Helping a friend

(Jo is lying down on her stomach on her bed studying, Blair walks in the room)

Blair – hi Jo

Jo – hey

Blair – I am beat… I'm telling you Jo school is really killing me

(Blair walks up the stairs near Jo's bed; Jo's looking at her books not listening)

Blair - Jo!

Jo – what!

Blair – weren't you listening?

(Jo sits up then looks at Blair)

Jo – I'm sorry Blair but I have a big economic exam tomorrow… unless it's really important I don't have time to listen!

Blair – Yes it is important I have three 10 page papers to write due tomorrow and I haven't even started on it yet… what am I going to do… I need these classes to graduate!

(Jo's looking down at her books not listening)

Blair - Jo!

(Jo rolls her eyes)

Jo – I'm sorry Blair but I'm really up against it here… I need at least a B in this class

(Jo closes her books and puts them in her hand then gets off her bed then starts walking down the stairs Blair follows; Jo turns around to look at Blair sad face)

Jo – look I'll help ya as soon as I get done studying… okay

(Jo says in the nicest voice has possible then walks out of the door… Blair shakes her head then picks up the phone but then puts the phone down then picks it up again then starts dialing)

Blair – hi its Blair…. Yeah… umm… what did you say these speed pills do again…. Give you more energy…..well… how much do they cost… okay well can I come pick them up today from you…. Okay I'll be there in a few minutes… bye

(Blair hangs up the phone slowly just realizing what she just did, then walks out the door. The next day in the living room Tootie is sitting on the couch reading; Natalie is sitting at the desk by the couch typing, Beverly Ann sitting on the coach next to Tootie sewing. Jo walks in with Andy)

Jo - No Andy I am not gonna give you one of my bras!

Andy – come on Jo I just need one

(Andy closes the door)

Jo – No!

(Jo walks over to the big chair and sits down next to the dinner table; Andy walks over to Natalie who looks up at Andy)

Natalie – What do you need a bra for? … to wear

(Natalie and Tootie start laughing)

Andy – no I just need it to impress the guys… so Natalie, Tootie

(Natalie and Tootie look at each other then look at Andy and both say at the same time)

(Beverly Ann gets up and walks over to Andy and puts her arm around his shoulder)

Beverly Ann – I think we need to talk about who you're hanging out with

(Andy rolls his eyes, as they walk in the kitchen)

Tootie - how did your test go Jo?

Jo – I think it went well… where's Blair I haven't seen her since last night?

Natalie – I don't know… why

Jo – she was kinda freaking out over her classes… I just hope everything went okay

Tootie – you know Blair she always figures something out

Natalie – yeah that… our she flirt her way out of it

(Tootie and Jo smile at that comment, Blair walks in the door)

Blair – Hello all!

(Jo gets up from the chair and walks over to Blair)

Jo – hey

(Jo says smiling at her)

Jo - Did you get your homework done I haven't seen ya since last night

Blair – yeah I got all of it done… infracted it didn't take me that long to finish it!

(Blair said ginning, Jo just look at her weird)

Jo- wow… well that's good… you really sounded stressed last night… ya know

Blair – I know but I'm fine now… I have so much energy…

(Blair looks at Natalie and Tootie)

Blair – do you girls want me to clean your room I need to get rid of some of this energy?

(Blair says shaking)

(Tootie and Natalie look at each other and smile)

Natalie – Well…

(Jo gives Natalie a dirty look)

Natalie – no…

(Natalie starts back typing, Tootie smiles at her)

Blair – if you guys change your mind I'll be in the store doing some inventory

(Blair smiles at them; then walks in the store)

Jo- what the hell was that

Tootie – I know… she's really hyper

(They all look at each other, later on that day Blair walks in the room, she walks to her bed then sits down and opens up her bag then takes out the speed pills and stares at them for a while then opens them and takes 3 as Jo walks in)

Jo- hey

Blair – uh… hi

(Jo walks up the stairs and sits on her bed)

Jo- got a headache?

Blair – huh?

(Jo points to the pills in Blair hand)

Blair – oh yeah… a bad one

(Blair rubs her head then puts the pill bottle back in her bag)

Jo – uh… Blair can we talk

Blair – Jo if it's about something I did wrong can we talk about it later I have three exams tomorrow then I have to shower then I have to meet up with Adam for a date then meet up with my friend Katie

Jo – wait you have three exam tomorrow but your still gonna meet up with Adam and Katie

(Jo says while walking down the stairs and over to Blair, Blair stands up)

Blair – yeah it won't take me that long to study for them

(Blair starts walking toward the desk Jo follows)

Jo – it's just that you were really hyper earlier

(Blair turns around to look at Jo)

Blair – so what's wrong with that?

(Blair sits down at the desk then opens her book)

Jo – nothing…. I…

Blair – Jo I'm really busy so can we talk about this later please

(Blair says irritated then looks back down at her books, Jo just stares at Blair)

Jo – Fine!

(Jo says equally irritated then walks outside of the room; Blair puts her hands on her face then start back studying; later on that night Jo's asleep in her bed, Blair walks in the room then turns on the desk light then opens her book then stand up and starts doing jumping jacks)

Jo- Blair…

(Jo says while sitting up)

Blair – oh hey Jo glad you're up care to join me

(Blair says while still doing jumping Jacks)

Jo – no I care to sleep… its 3 in the morning Blair!

(Jo says irritated, Blair rolls her eyes and stop doing jumping jacks and looks at Jo)

Blair – well I need to study and jumping jacks helps me study

(Blair says while pacing)

Jo – since when!

Blair – since forever

Jo – Blair I have been living with ya for 8 years and I've yet to see you do that!

(Jo says annoyed, Blair still pacing back and forth while biting her nails, Jo gets out of her bed and walks down the stairs over to Blair and puts her hands on each side of Blair's shoulders to stop her from pacing)

Jo – Blair what's wrong… you've been acting so weird

Blair – Weird I haven't been acting weird… what does weird mean anyway… weird….

(Jo looks at Blair crazy)

Jo – I'm worry about ya

Blair – There's no need to worry

(Blair says while biting her nails, Jo just stares at Blair)

Jo – yeah I can see that

(Jo says sarcastically taking her hands off Blair shoulders then walks up the stairs and sits on her bed then looks at her alarm clock)

Jo – its 3:15 can we get some sleep now?

Blair - you get some sleep I'm going to go jagging…

(Blair walks out of the room; Jo shakes her head then lays back down. Four days later in the living room Jo, Tootie, Natalie and Andy are sitting around the table eating breakfast. Beverly Ann walks in from the kitchen with tea in her hands…Jo's yawning)

Beverly Ann – Jo you look exhausted… you know you really should get more sleep

(Beverly Ann puts the tea on the table then stands between Jo and Natalie)

Jo – I wish I could but Blair has been the energizer bunny these last 4 days…. she never sleeps any more its weird… she's either running in place or doing jumping jacks just last night she wanted to rearrange the furniture

Tootie – she has been really hyper lately huh? You know the another day I accidently walked in on her in the bathroom and she was taking some pills maybe she's sick or something

Natalie – come to think of it… I saw her taking some pills this morning she said she had a headache

(Jo looks weird)

Jo – were they in a white container?

(Tootie and Natalie both say in unison)

Yeah

(Then look at each other)

Jo – yeah I saw her take those pills too

Beverly Ann – Not like it is any of my business or anything… But…you don't think Blair is taking drugs do you?

Tootie – Beverly Ann you don't know Blair as well as we do… she would never do drugs?

(Tootie says smiling at her)

Beverly Ann - well good… I'm glad to hear that… Andy, help me clean up the kitchen

Andy – if I tried to make up some excuse it wouldn't work right?

Beverly Ann – well Andy let me put it this way… no

Andy – ok I'll go quietly then

(The girls laugh… Beverly Ann grabs Andy by the arm and leads him in the kitchen. Natalie looks at Tootie who is sitting across from her)

Natalie – Tootie do you really believe Blair isn't taking drug… I mean she has been acting really weird

Tootie - yeah I really believe she's not taking drugs

Natalie – come on Tootie… I mean she's been really shaky and hyper… something has to be making her act this way...

(Natalie turns to look at Jo whose head is now on the table)

Natalie – well Jo what do you think?

(Jo lifts her head up)

Jo – honesty Nat I don't know

(Jo says annoyed then puts her head back on the table, Blair walks in the house)

Blair – hello all!

Tootie – let's just ask her

Natalie – Tootie!

(Natalie says in a don't voice)

Blair – ask me what

(Blair says smiling walking over to the table between Jo and Tootie. Blair looks at Jo)

Blair – what's with her?

(Blair says grabbing a roll; Jo looks up at Blair and gives her a dirty look then puts her head back down. Tootie stands up to look Blair in the eyes)

Tootie – ask you if…

(Natalie gets up and runs over to Tootie)

Natalie – if… you're doing well in your classes

(Natalie says smiling)

Blair – there going well

Tootie – Nat that's not what I was gonna ask her

(Tootie says looking at Natalie)

Blair – well ask me

Tootie – are you…

Natalie – it's really not that important

Blair – Natalie!

Natalie – okay but don't say I didn't warn you

(She backs away from Blair and Tootie… Blair smile at Tootie)

Tootie – Blair are you…. on drugs?

(Blair smile drops and she walks over to the other side of Jo)

Blair – of course not… where did you get an idiotic idea like that

(Blair says irritated)

Tootie – from Natalie

(Blair looks at Natalie)

Natalie – well it wasn't exactly my idea

Blair – well whose idea was it… exactly

(Blair says annoyed)

Natalie – okay… it was my idea

(Blair walks over to Natalie)

Blair – where did you get such an idiotic, ridiculous idea like that?

Natalie – well Blair you've been acting weird… you been shaky, jumpy and hyper… I mean it seems like your taking speed or something… I know I read all about it in health class

(Natalie says smiling)

Blair – you know Natalie maybe you should stay out of my life and worry about your own pathetic excuse for one!

Tootie – Blair

(Tootie say softly, Jo lifts up her head)

Jo – Hey…!

(Jo says angrily)

Natalie – then why are you getting so damn mad if it's not true?

(Blair looks at the girls who are staring at her then she runs upstairs. Jo walks in the room to see Blair doing homework on her bed then slams the door, Blair looks up at Jo then rolls her eyes)

Jo – what the hell was that Blair!

Blair – here comes the speech!

(Blair says annoyed)

Jo – damn right

(Jo walks over to Blair's bed, Blair looks up at Jo)

Blair – Jo I'm not a child I don't need a lecture

Jo – Blair I want you to stand up look in my eyes and answer this question true fully

(Blair laughs)

Blair – Jo please I don't have to do anything you say

Jo – oh is Blair Warner a scared

Blair – Jo I know what you're doing and it's not going to work

(Blair looks back down at her books)

Jo – oh okay I just thought you Warner's were taught to confront people… guess I was wrong

Blair – it's not going to work Jo

(Jo starts walking toward her bed)

Jo – yup just as I thought your doing speed

(Blair slammed her pencil down and walks over to Jo)

Blair – okay fine I'll do it

(Jo smiles then turn around with a straight face)

Jo – okay… look me straight in my eyes and answer this question true fully… are you doing speed?

(Blair looks Jo in her eyes and takes a deep breath)

Blair – I'm… not… I'm not doing… speed

(Jo stares at Blair)

Blair - see… I told you I wasn't doing it

(Blair says softly, Jo closes her eyes then opens them)

Jo – Blair… give me the pills

(Jo says in the softest voice)

Blair – I need them Jo… I need them to graduate

(Blair says pleasing)

Jo - give me the pills

Blair – these classes are killing me

Jo - give me the pills

Blair – I need them… I'm just so tired without them

Jo – Blair!

Blair – No! I'm not giving you the pills!

Jo – Blair!

Blair – I've just started improving in my classes… you know those papers that I had… I got A's on them and plus I have time to hang out with people

Jo – Blair my friend took speed and she got addicted and over dose on them… she died

Blair – I'm not addicted Jo… I just need them to pass this semester then I'll stop I promise

(Jo stares at Blair)

Jo – if you're not gonna give them to me I'll get them myself

(Jo walks over to Blair's bag on Blair's bed, Blair follows; Jo start going through her bag)

Blair - Jo stop! I need them!

(Blair starts inferring by pulling the bag away for Jo but Jo keeps a tight hold on the bag)

Jo – Blair let go!

Blair – no Jo I need them!

(Their both pulling the bag back and forth)

Jo – Blair let go you don't need them

Blair – yes I do Jo! I need them!

Jo – no you don't!

Blair – yes I do! Give it to me!

Jo – Fine!

(Jo lets go of the bag. Blair raps her arms around it)

Blair – I'm not addicted to it… I'm not

(Jo stares at Blair)

Jo – look at yourself… you are

(Jo says in the softest voice, Blair drops her bag on the floor)

Blair – you right Jo I am… I'm just so tired without them

(Blair says quietly then starts walking to the middle of the room not facing Jo, Jo follows behind her)

Jo – I bet you are you haven't slept in 4 days

Blair – I mean really tired

(Bair's eyes roll back in her head then she falls back, Jo catches her then shakes her head then smiles)

Jo – good night Blair

(The next day Tootie and Natalie are sitting on the couch playing cards and Jo is sitting on the big chair next to the fire place reading)

Tootie – I still can't believe Blair was taking drugs

Natalie – draw Tootie

(Tootie looks at Jo not listening to Natalie)

Tootie – Jo are you sure she's okay… she been sleeping for a long time… its 6 o'clock

(Jo looks at Tootie)

Jo – trust me… my friend was on speed when you crash you crash hard

Tootie – sorry about your friend Jo

(Tootie says in a soft voice, Jo nods her head then starts back reading)

Natalie – Tootie draw before I break your hand!

(Natalie says angrily)

Tootie – okay Natalie

(Tootie draws)

Tootie – are you happy now

(Tootie says sarcastically)

Natalie - very

(Natalie smiles)

Tootie – oh no… Natalie I forgot all about the movie its starts in 30 minutes

Tootie - we gotta go

(Tootie gets off the coach and walks over to the closet)

Natalie – oh I'm so excited

(Natalie says sarcastically, Tootie puts on her jacket while rolling her eyes then grabs Natalie jacket)

Tootie – you promise Nat

Natalie – I know

(Tootie throws Natalie her jacket, Natalie stands up and puts it on; Blair walks down the stairs, Jo looks up)

Jo – evening sleepy head

(Blair finishes walking down the stairs and smiles at Jo)

Tootie – Blair!

(Tootie says excited and hugs her)

Tootie – girl you scared me… don't you ever do that again

Blair – sorry

(Blair looks at Natalie then walks over to her)

Blair – hey

Natalie – hey

Blair - look Natalie I'm sorry for what I said… I…

Natalie – Blair it's cool but if you ever do drugs again I'll kill you

(Blair smiles and hugs her)

Tootie – let's go Natalie!

Natalie – although you could do me one favor

Blair – what's that?

(Blair says ginning)

Natalie – you could go to this dumb movie with Tootie

(Tootie shake her head)

Tootie – No Nat you promised me

(Tootie opened the door)

Blair - sorry

Natalie – no it's okay I'll just sit through the ache

(Natalie says while walking through the door, Tootie rolls her eye then smiles)

Tootie – see ya guys

(Jo and Blair say at the same time)

Bye

(Jo walks over to Blair by the stair way)

Jo – so how ya feeling?

Blair – Better…. Jo thanks for helping me out… I guess graduation was just getting to me… and I'm taking way too many classes this semester

Jo – I told you not to take that many

Blair – I know… I guess I just caught up in the excitement of graduation… I wanted to go out with a bang you know… I'll never do drugs again it was scary feeling that way

Jo – It was even scarier seeing you acting that way

(Blair looks at Jo's worry eyes)

Blair – Sorry

(Jo nods her head)

Blair – and I'm also sorry about your friend

(Jo nods her head)

Blair – well… I guess I could stand to drop 2 classes

Jo – you can stand to drop 3

(Blair smiles)

Blair – then its settle I'll drop them tomorrow

(Jo smiles back)

Blair – you are truly a great friend Jo

Jo – nawww

(Jo waves her hand)

Blair – no you are really

(Blair puts her hand on Jo's shoulder)

Jo – you're right you're lucky to have a friend like me

(Blair nods her head smiling and takes her hand off Jo's shoulder)

Jo – I mean really lucky… infracted you're lucky to have a friend period how bad you look today

(Blair smile drops while Jo gets a big one on her face)

Blair – you're so funny

(Blair says sarcastically, Jo laugh)

Jo – I know

(Blair shakes her head then pulls Jo in for a hug, Jo hugs her back then Blair gives Jo a big kiss on her cheek, Jo gets a disgusted look on her face then rugs her cheek)

Jo – ugh….

(Jo gives Blair a dirty look)

Blair – that was for the remark you said and that lipstick on your cheek doesn't come off for another 24 hours

(Blair says ginning while Jo looks disgusted at Blair then smile back at her)
