Us or them
The breath catches in my throat
As I handle the trigger on my gun
I force myself to step forward
Into the chaos and destruction of war.
My eyes sting and my hands shake
But I know I must go on.
The harshness of hatred hits me
As I witness the pain all around me
Engulfing me.
A million different choices flood my head.
Run or retreat.
Live or die.
Us or them.
