LucyMaxine here with an attempt at an Outcasts fic. I hated the fact that the show was cancelled and decided to write a fic to see if it would help with the pain. It has a bit. Sorry if some of the characters don't seem true to the show, I have tried to get them as close to the characters as possible. The only exception is Hattie, who I hope you will like. I have a few parts typed up and she will change, but for now, it's a slightly rebellious Hattie.

Enjoy,

Through The Storm: part One:

"Hattie! Stop lagging!"

Fleur called to her younger sister Harriet, who went by the name Hattie.

"Well I'm not the one who decided to stay out late."

Fleur smiled as she remembered dancing with Hattie like normal when Cass appeared from nowhere.

"It's the Curly Top sisters. How's the heads?"

Hattie suddenly burst out laughing,

"Fine thanks, not sure about Jack though."

Cass's eyes widened,

"Why? What happened?"

Fleur looked at Hattie before answering,

"Got drunk and threw himself at me."

Before Cass could construct a comment, Fleur and Hattie were on the way to PAS.

Stella was already in her office and making a note to check something out when Richard walked in,

"Good morning Stella. Ready for another day?"

Stella put her pen down,

"Yeah I am. Karina's recovering well."

"That's good to hear."

Stella went to say something else but couldn't as Richard had spotted Fleur and Hattie walking past and was soon off. Stella saw Cass and called after him.

"How are Fleur and Hattie doing?" she asked.

"Hattie still feels guilty and Fleur's just glad Karina's ok."

Stella nodded,

"I've tried talking to Hattie about it but she just doesn't want to talk about it. Has Fleur managed to get anything out of her?"

"A bit, but not a lot. You have to remember they grew up with only each other." Stella nodded, "Just keep an eye on Hattie."

Cass nodded before leaving.

"Hattie!" Richard shouted down the corridor causing both girls to turn around. Richard caught them up,

"How are you?"

"Fine thanks. Why all the questions? I'm starting to get fed up with them."

Fleur could see that Hattie was starting to get annoyed and tried to distract Richard from Hattie.

"How's Karina doing?" Richard looked at some notes,

"Recovering well. Better than we thought." Hattie looked down at the floor before walking towards the PAS office.

Richard then turned to Fleur,

"She still feels guilty?"

Fleur nodded,

"She wishes it had been her and not Karina. She loves Karina just as much as she loves me." Richard nodded,

"We need to get this out of her. She'll crack up soon. She's keeping it bottled up."

"How do you know all this?"

"Because I've seen it in someone else."

"Who?"

"Her sister."

Fleur smiled,

"I should have seen that coming. Anyway I need to go and find her." They said goodbye and then Fleur went off to search for Hattie.

Hattie had arrived as PAS and sat down and started to cry. She pulled out a photo of her, Fleur, Cass and Karina taken the day before the incident and she held it close. Cass walked into the office and could hear someone crying. He looked around and couldn't see at first who was crying and then he looked around.

"Hattie!" He raced to her side and held her close.

"It should have been me, not Karina. Why did I have to run after Fleur?" Cass just rocked Hattie and whispered,

"Where are you Fleur?"

Fleur herself was just walking into PAS and she heard crying and then she looked towards her desk and then she saw Cass holding Hattie and she hurried over and looked at Cass, knowing what the problem was.

"Hattie. It's not your fault."

"Yeah it is. I was the one who came running after you."

"Yeah I know but Karina's getting better and everything will be ok." Hattie's head started to turn around and Fleur grabbed a tissue and started to wipe Hattie's tears away. Fleur then looked at Cass and then towards Hattie,

"We got you. Promise."

"Good morning. This is Radio Carpathia and it's another sunny day and it's time for Tipper to play some good old Earth tunes." Tipper then cut the mick as the music started. He smiled as he saw Lily walking into the room. "Heard the morning radio did we?"

"How could I not?" Lily said, "it's now becoming my morning alarm clock." Tipper smiled as the music the stopped and then he said, I would just like to say hello to my lovely housemate Lily, who has just walked out the door. Nice."

Lily had walked down to the sycamore tree and she saw Julius and walked up to him.

"Hey Lily," he said, "how are you today?"

"Fine thank you, just enjoying the sun." Julius smiled before heading off.

Back at PAS Hattie was all calm and she, Cass and Fleur were getting ready to go out on patrol when Hattie stopped,

"I want to go and see Karina." Cass and Fleur looked at each other,

"You can't Hattie. We need to get on patrol," Cass said.

"Well I want to go and see Karina first. You can't stop me!"

Fleur looked at Hattie,

"Please sis. We can go and see Karina later."

"No we won't! We'll end up at the bar as usual!"

Hattie threw her belt on the floor before running off. Fleur looked at Cass,

"What do I do with her Cass? Tell me." Cass looked at Fleur,

"Just talk to her."

Hattie had arrived at the medicentre and one of the nurses looked at her,

"Go on in. She's awake."

Hattie nodded before walking in and sitting down next to Karina's bed.

"Hattie?"

Karina asked.

"I needed to escape. I didn't know where else to go."

Karina looked at Hattie,

"It's OK. I understand."

"Do you though? Do you know the guilt I feel? How I wish it had been me?"

Karina nodded,

"I do actually. Believe it or not I have been in the same situation."

"But I… I can't stand the thought of you being in here. It breaks my heart. I want you back out with us, where you belong."

Karina was moved by Hattie's words and was about to say something when she saw Fleur out of the corner of her eye.

"What else are you feeling?"

"Betrayed, hurt and like Fleur doesn't really care about me now Cass is around more."

"Have you told her about this?"

"No don't really see what the point is."

Fleur came out from the shadows,

"Hattie you should have spoken to me about this. There is every point to tell me this stuff."

Hattie jumped as she heard Fleur's voice.

"Hattie with me now please."

Hattie followed Fleur and took one last look at Karina.

Fleur and Hattie made their way outside and joined Cass before heading out on patrol. Cass looked at Fleur,

"Just talk to her. You need to clear the air. I will make myself unavailable."

"No I want you there. I think it's you she has the issue with."

"Me? Why?"

"She's just been so used to me and her and she's finding it hard to deal with you being around a lot."

Cass suddenly had a brainwave,

"Hattie, why don't the three of us have a drink later?"

"At the bar?"

"No at yours and Fleur's."

"Oh ok then. Yeah OK then," she smiled.

Fleur smiled as she saw Cass and Hattie talking and wondered why Hattie suddenly felt the way she did. Then she realised why and she made a mental note to talk about it later.

She caught them up and they were walking around keeping an eye on things when they came across Lily.

"Hi Lily. How are you?" Cass asked.

"Fine thank you."

Fleur smiled,

"That's good. Just try and stay out of trouble yeah?"

"You know me Fleur. I hate getting into trouble."

"Well make sure it stays that way," Hattie said.

"Oh yeah," Lily said, "because you're so perfect and golden aren't you Hattie?"

Hattie looked at Lily,

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

Then she walked off with Cass and Fleur running to catch up with her.

They were walking around when Fleur's radio bleeped.

"Fleur."

"Trouble at Can91!"

"OK. We're on it. Trouble at the bar."

"What's the betting the XPs are involved?" Cass said before running after Fleur and Hattie.
