AN: This is written for CandyKiller's "Shut up! I was drunk!" challenge.
"So," James started, "There was this one, very amusing time. Lily and I were about to apparate home from the Leaky Cauldron, but she decided that she would rather walk at least part of the way, to clear her head…"
"Come on, Lils, it's time to go," James Potter said gently to the girl next to him.
"Don' wanna'" Lily muttered, tears beginning to stream down her face.
Alarmed, James knelt next to her. "Lily-flower, what's wrong?" he asked gently.
"Don't wanna' apparate. Walk?"
James was slightly worried by the very, very drunk Lily. When first drunk, she was really…randy. Later in the evening, however, she became very moody, a pessimist, as it was."
He took her hand and slowly led her outside of the Leaky Cauldron into Muggle London, and led her to another apparation point just slightly farther away. He didn't want to have to walk all the way back to Godric's Hollow, and he didn't think Lily-or he-would be able to make it.
Of course, him being the wonderful and brilliant James Potter, he got lost. Now, if it was an ordinary night, it would be fine. Lily could get him out of anything.
But he couldn't apparate away in plain sight, and he was worried about Lily. He had never seen her so drunk and, frankly, it frightened him.
"Lily, dear, I have to ask for directions," he whispered in her ear.
"I'll ask," she announced, walking away.
"Lily!" he cried in a panic, starting to chase her.
"It's fine," she informed him, when he'd finally found her, "This man was nice enough to give me directions."
James turned around, thanking the man profusely, and found that he was talking to a lamppost. Strangely, Lily still knew the exact route to get them home, even though she struck up another conversation with the lamppost while he was still standing there, naming in 'Harry'.
"She asked a lamppost for directions and then had a whole conversation with it, naming it Har-"
"Shut up!" Lily yelled, face as red as her hair, "I was drunk!"
Wouldn't Harry just love to know who-or what-he was names after.
AN: Yes, wouldn't he just love that. Review!
