Here's another To the Unknown. It took me a while to finally find out what was going to happen next in this story. Like it's going to take a while before everyone starts dueling again. In other words, we're having a break from dueling for a while. Review please!
Solomon Moto had been taken to the hospital suddenly several minutes ago. Uka stood near her father-in-law, hoping that he would wake up, but there seemed to be no hope. He was one of the only family members in her life, besides Yugi and he always appeared and disappeared. Speaking of disappearing, Yugi and Jaden haven't been back from their tournament since yesterday. Where could they have gone?
Tea stormed into the hospital room, where Uka was located, crying her eyes out. She was so heartbroken, it wasn't funny. The mother didn't know what to say about this outburst of crying. She held the brokenhearted woman in her arms like she once did with Yugi when he'd come back from school all beaten up from the bullying.
"What's wrong, sweety?" Uka asked, still trying to be strong from all the emotional drama.
"Tristan, he... he... he just collapsed! I don't know what's going on!" Tea cried, weeping on the woman's shoulder. "I was asking him about Yugi, since I heard he was here and... and... oh Mrs. Moto!"
"Shhhh, I'm sure he's okay."
"The doctors say they don't know what's going on with him! I'm afraid I'm gonna lose him!"
"I'm sure everything's gonna be alright. Tristan's a strong man. He'll be fine."
Another girl came into the room. This one had light red hair and she seemed to have a hint of sadness in her heart. She curled her lips in her mouth while slowly walking toward the older woman. She also eyed Solomon's unconscious body while tapping her fingers together.
"Serenity?" Tea wept, while trying to wipe off the tears.
"I... have you seen Joey?" Serenity asked.
"I thought he was with you."
"He went to the tournament yesterday and never came back."
"That happened with Yugi too!" Uka said.
"WHAT?" Tea cried with worry in her heart. "Don't tell me he's gone too!"
"Calm down, sweetheart. I'm sure there's some coincidence," Uka explained.
"I'm avrade not, Mizez Moto," a familiar voice replied. The gang turned and found an older man with short curly gray hair, a white trench coat over a light purple outfit, and glasses. He seemed to hold a French accent, despite being a born American. He seemed very concerned about something. "Vone of Miztar Pegaziz assizancez iz alzo in a coma. I'm avrade it might be connected with Miztar Pegaziz and hiz boyz dizappearencez."
"What do you mean Pegasus and... boys?" Uka questioned.
"Yako and Gekko, I know those two! They're Pegasus's adopted sons. He raised them. How long have they been gone?" Tea asked.
"About a veek or zo. We've been tryinz to find zem, zen I got a call zaying zat zeveral dueliz have dizappeared yesterday. Zese are alzo ze onez zat have entared ze tournament, Triple T."
"Joey entered that tournament too!" Serenity said.
"And so has Yugi and Jaden!" Uka added.
"Who's Jaden?" Tea asked.
"Jaden'z in zis too? Oh my!" The man said with a shake of the head.
"Who are you, by the way?" Uka asked.
"Franz, I'm Miztar Pegaziz assizant, card dezigner," Franz introduced himself. "I normally zon't go to conclutionz, but he waz a zpecial guez in ze tournament. My boss zoes not run ov unless ve are told."
"You think Yugi might be in grave danger?" Tea asked.
"It might be zo. Ve muz invezigate zis matter," Franz decided.
"If my little boy's in trouble, then I'm gonna get to the bottom of this!" Uka decided. She looked at Serenity and Tea with a serious look in her eyes. "You girls coming?"
"Of course!" Serenity replied.
"I'm not losing Yugi!" Tea promised with two serious eyes.
"Then, looks like you've got three costumers," Uka told Franz, who nodded.
"Vollow me!" Franz said.
The girls followed Franz to the limo, riding on their way to where the Triple T Tournament was to be taking place. Uka had never been scared in her life! To think that her little boy was possibly kidnapped. She always feared this when he would just take off without saying 'goodbye' or bringing a cell phone, but never when he stayed in Domino City. She wished she could cry.
Tea and Serenity were determined to find their loved ones and possibly get them out of whatever trouble they were in. Tea still worried about Tristan, but the doctors were taking care of him, not Yugi or Joey. Something has happened to them and she was going to figure out what!
Franz had a strong bond with his boss. Pegasus was one of the most generous bosses he's ever worked with. He had worked for the guy for many years, ever since he was a young adult. In fact, Franz remembered babysitting Yako and Gekko. They were such sweet boys, though they had their issues. Franz had never been closer with anyone else, seeing that his wife divorced him and took his two daughters, who don't even know of his existence. Of course, he also became close with Chumley after getting over his jealousy, which was very temporary. Franz hoped and prayed that the boy would wake up soon. It seemed strange that he would just be comatosed all of a sudden after he took off for Domino City to search for Pegasus.
The limo finally made it to the stadium where the Triple T Tournament was located. The four stepped out of the limo and walked toward the stadium. It seemed quiet in there... too quiet. Uka ran up to the door and tried to open it, but the door was locked. Franz narrowed his eyes with folded arms. Figures the doors would be locked!
Tea took two hair pins and stuck them into the top lock keyhole, making clicking sounds. Uka rose two eyebrows as Tea slowly, but carefully, twisted the top lock, unlocking the door. She then took her credit card and slid it between the door and the wall next to the knob before opening the door. Franz showed an impressive smile.
"Vere have you learn to do zat?" Franz asked.
"You learn a few things from hanging out with Yugi," Tea replied with a slight smirk.
Franz, Tea, Uka, and Serenity entered the stadium, walking through the hallway. They soon came to the middle of the stadium where the duels were to be held at. To their horror, there was not just several, but hundreds of unconscious people piling around the floor both young and old. They were all connected by their Double-Duel Disks with their partners. Uka also happened to find her son in the midst of the pile.
"YUGI!" Uka screamed as she ran to her son and cradled him in her arms. "PLEASE! WAKE UP!"
"Itz no uze, Madam," Franz said, then noticed Jaden lying unconsciously beside Yugi, connected by the Double-Duel Disk. "Jaden."
"JOEY!" Serenity screamed with tears pouring down her cheeks. She jiggled him to wake him up. "PLEASE! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"
"I'm afraid he can't be woken up, girl," a man said from the midst of the crowd. Franz glared deeply at the older man.
"You're ze one who kidnapped Pegazuz! Vere iz he?" Franz yelled.
"Franz, run while you can! This man is dangerous!" A familiar voice cried out. Franz gasped and ran to the room behind the stranger, along with the three girls.
They entered into a smaller room with a portal on the wall across the room showing a strange world filled with a bunch of people that looked like the ones that were unconscious. Pegasus was chained to a chair with no way to escape. Uka was frozen in horror at this point, both at the fact that Pegasus was in chains and the portal revealing the unconscious people. She also happened to find her son in the midst of the crowd sitting with Yako and Gekko at a round table.
"MOM! GET OUT OF HERE!" A voice screamed, which sounded too familiar. Uka turned around and saw what looked to be her son, but he was tan and wore some sort of strange pharaoh garment.
"Yugi?" Uka responded.
"No, I'm not Yugi and you're not safe here!"
"ATEM? HE'S GOT YOU TOO?" Tea gasped as everyone heard a laughter from the stranger as he entered the room. "WHAT KIND OF SICK TWISTED GAME IS THIS?"
"A brilliant one. For years, I have studied the Shadow Games and how they work. I knew they existed ever since my colleagues joined Mr. Solomon Moto in going inside the Pharaoh's tomb, of course they never made it back alive. I thought, at first, that Solomon would solve the puzzle to bring out the Shadow Games, but it was his grandson, to my surprise. I also never expected them to be mistaken for twins. I can see why his precious pharaoh would choose him," Rath explained with a sickly smirk.
"I chose Yugi, because compared to you, he's not interested in killing innocents for power!" Atem spat.
"I thought you already got the point, Pharaoh," Rath replied while walking to him, before cupping his chin. "I can feel the terror in your eyes. So much for being the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt."
"Leave him alone, you monster!" Serenity yelled with anger.
"I doubt you want to mess with me, sweetheart," Rath glared in reply.
"I demand you to releaze everyone or I'm callinz ze polize!" Franz threatened.
"Oh really?" Rath smirked before he let out a dark magical blast, levitating Franz's cell phone, then breaking it into pieces. "So much for that, Monsieur." Franz glared darkly at Rath, who made a mocking chuckle.
"It doesn't matter what you do to us, just let our friends go! They have nothing to do with this!" Atem pleaded, sounding brave.
"That's not gonna be happening anytime soon, Pharaoh! These friends of yours know too much, but I might find some use to them."
"What are you gonna do to us?" Serenity asked fearfully.
"Well, I can't let you participate in the tournament, since everyone's made the top 10 and I doubt if your skills meet with theirs. Though... you might be better use than that. I do need some kind of motivation for Yugi, the twins, and Joey to duel against each other. You all just might fit the bill. After all, I already have Pegasus and the Pharaoh, I just need more reasons for them to win," Rath plotted.
"Yugi will find a way out of this! He's done it before and he'll do it again!" Tea replied bravely.
"Oh, I'm so greatly afraid. You know, Yugi was this close to losing both of you just like he lost his grandfather and his friend."
"YOU MEAN YOU WERE THE REASON DAD IS IN THE HOSPITAL?" Uka yelled angrily.
"Anz my guess iz zat you put Chumley in ze hozpital, are you not?" Franz asked rhetorically, not seeming surprised.
"You're a smart one," Rath replied as a dark glow appeared around the group. They couldn't move a muscle.
"I can't move!" Serenity screamed.
"Non of you can! I'll be glad to inform your loved ones that I have you in my grasp. Have fun watching the show!" Rath smirked before leaving the room. The group tried to find a way to escape from the dark magic placed on them, but it seemed hopeless. Atem looked at the four with guilt in his eyes.
"I'm sorry for bringing you guys into this mess," Atem apologized.
"It's not you fault, Atem! How did you get here anyways?" Tea asked.
"I think Rath found some sort of spell to rip me out of the Underworld. From what I gathered, he's been studying me and the inside of my tomb ever since Yugi transported me into the Underworld. For one second, I was with my cousin Seth by the fountain and next thing you know, I feel this horrible pain and found myself in this giant thing."
"What I want to know is who are you and what did you have with my son?" Uka asked with demand.
"Yugi was my temporary vessle, whom I looked to as a close friend. He set me free when my soul was trapped inside the millennium puzzle with no memory of my past or where I came from. He helped me gain my memories and my name. I'm forever in his debt," Atem replied as Uka looked at the mighty king in awe. "I also met you before... when I dueled several times while you were watching me, thinking I was Yugi. I also saw you when your boss tried taking advantage of you."
"Uh-huh," Uka said in amazement. She remembered that memory. Her boss was in the hospital for a week after her son came to visit one day and her boss threatened to fire her while she was in debt if she didn't agree to his lustful desires. Did this guy send him to the hospital? Did he save her life?
"Though, I have little memory of my real mother, I look to you as if you really were my mother. I suppose it's because Yugi once let me share his life and in the process, I have developed a mother and son connection with you. I hope you don't mind me calling you..."
"It's fine. It's just weird to think that you're not really Yugi. You look so much like him!"
Atem made a slight chuckle and replied, "except I'm not on staroids."
Tea burst out laughing, then said, "Yugi sure has grown since the last you've seen him huh? You know, you really haven't changed a bit."
"You think? Yugi's freakin' taller than me! I can't get over the fact I'm still 4 foot 5 while he catches up on his full growth by two feet! See, this is what you get for dying at age 16!"
"Is this really a good time to be joking around?" Pegasus asked.
"I'm bored and so far, you haven't been much help, no offense," Atem replied.
"Non taken."
