Peter POV
It had been a month since we'd come home. From Narnia; our real home.
And now we're back in England, acting as if it never happened around others.
But none of us were ever good actors. Mum and dad could definitely see through our act and see that something was bothering us.
I could tell that my best friend, Jack Powers, thought that I was going mad when he saw me sketching out Oreius in the back of one of my school books, trying to ignore the taunting from the school bullies Henry and Dennis.
All of mine and the other's teachers were getting a bit scared at how our marks had improved since coming back from the professor's. I used to get one of the lowest in English when we did Shakespeare but now I was one of the highest.
"Peter, sweetie, are you okay?"
"Huh?" my mum's voice snapped me out of my day dreaming and I looked up to see her hovering by my side, a concerned look on her face.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, mum."
"Are you sure? You're not ill are you?" she was getting even more overprotective since she realized that we weren't the children that she remembered.
She lifted the hair that swept into my eyes and placed a hand on my forehead. "No fever."
"I'm fine mum! Really."
She frowned but turned back into the kitchen to carry on making dinner. I sighed and looked down at my sketch pad to see that I'd drawn Aslan and his camp where we first met him behind him without thinking about it. I just shrugged and went upstairs to get my colouring pencils that I hadn't used in years before Narnia.
While I was looking for them I didn't hear my dad come home from work at his office, it was only when I heard him shout my name did I realize he was home.
"Peter!"
I grabbed my pencils and ran down the stairs; dad could get strict about laziness sometimes and didn't like it when people shouted down from upstairs.
When I re-entered the living room I saw dad holding my sketch pad and flicking through it.
"These are really good Peter. How come you never told us you could draw?"
He never gave me chance to answer; he had come to the page that I had drawn our Protector, Lilliana Knight. He chuckled, "Who's this then, son?"
"No-one, just some random made-up person I drew." I took the pad off him and sat back down on the sofa.
"Aren't you going to show them to your mother?"
I sighed and handed him the pad back. There wasn't anything in there that would give away the fact that Susan, Lucy, Edmund and I were kings and queens of a whole different world.
He smiled, taking the pad, and walked through the door leading to the kitchen.
"Who was it really Pete?" Ed looked up from the book that he got out of the library a few days ago and looked at me.
"Obviously it was Lils, Peter's had a crush on her every since she was made our Protector and her him, but both were too blind to see it." Susan had also put her book down and looked at me with a knowing look.
I heard Lucy giggled from her seat on the floor and I could feel my cheeks turn pink. "I don't know what you're talking about."
They laughed at my embarrassment and mum came through and started to set the plates out on the table.
I rolled my eyes and went to go help.
Dinner was served – horrid rationed stuff – and soon it was time for bed. Lucy had gone up an hour ago, Ed soon followed and now me and Susan.
We said goodnight to our parents and went upstairs to our rooms. Su and Lucy shared a room and so did Edmund and I.
I peeked into the girl's room before I went to my own room and bid them a goodnight which they returned.
Edmund was still awake when I came in from brushing my teeth.
We said goodnight but it seemed that neither of us could sleep.
"Pete?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think that we'll ever go back?"
I sighed and turned around to face him in the darkness. "I don't know Ed, but have faith in Aslan and one day we'll return and be reunited with everyone."
I know, I know, short but it's all that I have to go on at the moment.
What do you guys think? Should I continue or leave it?
