Epilogue
Elwood sat on the roof of his new apartment. He moved the box from the old building to the new one, still using it as a stool. After popping out a cigarette and lighting it, he said aloud:
"Well Jake, I hope you're proud somehow. I dunno how, but I hope you are," he laughed to himself a little, "I still miss you like crazy, but no one can ever replace my brother. I wanna know if somehow, you brought Jess back to me. It's a little far fetched but if you did, thanks man. Even up there, you're still helping out your little brother."
He sighed and took a puff of his cigarette and just looked out into the city. The new Blues Brothers Band was going on a summer tour around the North East and up to Canada a little bit. He needed to get Alex into Blues Brothers material before they even started playing on their tour.
"Jake, I'm pretty sure you'd disapprove of a girl being in the band, but she is incredible dude. I'm sure that you'd like her some how. She's funny, creative, has amazing musical skills and all and all a great girl. She's a lot like me some how," he laughed a little, "I wish you two could meet somehow. But that will never happen.
"I stopped cutting, for good. I threw the army knife away and will never look back to that ever again. I was reminded that if I ever did anything that stupid again, I'd get like seven rulers of discipline," he laughed again, "I still can't get over the fact I played my guitar in front of people. It felt good I think, I'm not to sure.
"The band won't change when we go on tour; we're going to keep it blues and R&B. That will never change no matter who comes in the band."
He took another puff of his cigarette and looked to the city once more. It was a different side of Chicago. Brighter than the other side.
"Elwood! Come on, dude! We got practice tonight!"
"Comin, Alex!" he called.
He finished up his cigarette and put it out.
"I said it before, and I say it again," he said aloud, "I love ya Jake."
(A/N: you guys have no idea how proud of myself I am. This is the very first actual long story I have ever written and finished! I started this back in like, April or May and here we are in December and I finished it.
Guess what? There's going to be a sequel! I've been working on it since like July. What I thought was going to be a one-shot became the first chapter to the sequel :) I'm going to take a short break and worry about my other stories before I post the first chapter to Are You Ready. Hope you enjoyed the story)
