A/N: Hi everyone! This is my first Nevermore fanfiction (round of applause). For those of you who don't know about Nevermore or have never read the book, shame on you! No, I'm totally kidding. It's an amazing book written by Kelly Creagh and has an Edgar Allan Poe theme. It's the story about cheerleader, Isobel Lanley, who finds herself partnered up for an English project with "the king of the Goths", Varen Nethers. Soon she finds herself falling for Varen. As their romance begins to develop, strange things begin to happen and Isobel soon learns that Varen has created a world based upon Edgar Allan Poe's works. My fanfic takes place after Nevermore and during the second book, Enshadowed. Just so you know, Enshadowed hasn't been released yet so this is just what I think will happen next. Ok, enough with this A/N, enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Nevermore. Kelly Creagh does (ugh, she's so lucky…).
The bitter winter air stung Reynolds' skin. He pulled his coat against his body as he made his way through the graveyard. It was January 19th, the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's death. Reynolds sighed. Poe. His ally. His mentor. His friend.
Towards the back of the cemetery was Poe's grave. Reynolds stood before it, dropping the bouquet of flowers he had been carrying. They soundlessly landed on the ground. Slowly, Reynolds kneeled down and rested his forehead against the icy grave.
"Mr. Poe," he muttered softly. "I have failed you. I have failed the girl. I have failed myself. What am I to do?"
The sound of crunching snow caught his attention. Quick as a cat, he jumped and spun around. A girl with long, straight brown hair stood before him, her arms crossed over her chest. She wore an oversized black coat, a long floral skirt, and lace-up black leather boots.
Reynolds turned to run but stopped dead in his tracks. Not ten feet away from him was Isobel Lanley, the girl he'd been trying so hard to forget. His heart quickened. Isobel narrowed her blue eyes. "It's time we had a little talk, Reynolds."
Reynolds felt something metal hit him on the back of the head. The world went black.
Read and review! I'll try to have Chapter 1 up sometime this week.
