The Warmth Within
Disclaimer: I don't own Flashpoint.
:: After the last 2 stories I did, I felt like I needed to do something really light to balance it out. And it's been a while since I did drabbles, so I have to start again before I forget how to do that.
:: This takes place after PE, obviously. It doesn't have a specific time-line, just after that AWESOME episode.
Jules shivered when the breeze caressed her bare back. Groaning, she buried her face in the pillow and breathed in the musky scent of Sam's aftershave. Her hand automatically reached for him, but the spot next to her was empty.
Almost cold, she absently thought. The idea of him deserting her was enough to seize her heart and shake off the last of the sleepiness.
It was when she caught the sight of a still steaming blue mug on the nightstand.
Of course Sam would never do that. Not like she had left him, all broken hearted, once upon a time. She grimaced at the bitter memory.
Jules threw the covers away and walked to his closet, grabbing the first shirt met her eyes. The hem of the top barely reached her sun-kissed thighs, just the way she knew he loved it. Her body was pleasantly sore from certain activities they'd engaged until wee hours of the morning, but it was something that she could definitely get used to. Decently dressed, she padded to the nightstand.
It was a cup of milk, with a heart shaped garnish made of chocolate syrup.
Her laughter broke free and she cupped the warm mug between her hands. Nevertheless, it delighted her that he still remembered when her internal clock was supposed to rouse her from sleep.
Where is he, anyway?
She was standing in front of the window, watching the world slowly coming to life when the lock rattled. The next second, her sniper walked in.
She ran her fingers through her hair self-consciously, grinning. "Morning."
Sam deposited the plastic bags on the counter before meeting her halfway.
"I hate waking up alone." Jules tugged at his shirt, shifting her weight from one foot to another. It'd felt terribly lonely, especially after knowing how it felt to fall asleep and wake up in the circle of his arms.
Sam pecked her brow. "I'm sorry, but my fridge was empty so I figured I'd grab some stuff to feed you," he paused, then leered. "Gotta make sure that you're properly fed because we have a hectic schedule planned for the weekend."
He laughed when she swatted him; her blush amused him a great deal.
"You know what? You still snore." Jules quipped, attempting to change the topic.
"You're still mumbling in your sleep."
"You're still taking ¾ of the bed."
"You're still every bit as beautiful as you were the day I met you."
They were staring at each other for a whole ten seconds before Jules burst out laughing. She was trying to squirm away from him, but he didn't let her; would never let her ago again.
"And you're still as corny as ever!" She chuckled, feeling the warmth that didn't come from the hot milk spread through her system.
"Works every time, doesn't it?"
They fell into another comfortable silence; her hand looped behind his neck and his wrapped loosely about her hips.
"Thanks for this," Jules gestured at the empty mug. She debated whether or not she's going to push the envelope further, and it only took one look at those eyes to make her decision. "Does this mean I have your heart now?"
Sam brushed the gentlest of kisses over her lips. "You've always had it, Jules. Always."
Just in case it's not clear enough, I freakin' love Sam and Jules.
