Sweet dreams
I hopped on Chloe's roof suspicious of the closed window and drapes.
She always kept them open during the day and closed them when she went to sleep.
Thankfully the window was unlocked so I pulled it open and slid in.
The room was dark, Casablanca was playing on the tv, and Chloe sat under her covers surrounded by tissues and loads of junk food.
I crinkled my eyebrows and walked over hesitantly.
"Uh...Chloe?" I inquired and her eyes shot to me surprised.
She looked as if she didn't even hear me come in.
"Oh, hey Alec," she said quietly going back to the tv and grabbing another licorice.
I sat on her bed.
"Are you ok? What's wrong?" I said with genuine concerned.
Her eyes were puffy and red.
"Nothing. Isn't that obvious by the depressing romance movies and heart attack ridden foods surrounding me," Chloe said not looking up.
I just stared at her waiting for her to say something.
I figured she talk when she was ready.
I layed against her headboard and grabbed a piece of chocolate.
As I bit a piece she spoke.
"I ended things with Brian," was all she said.
I mentally beat myself for the small feeling of hope and relief I got.
"I'm sorry," I said and she rolled her eyes at me.
"No you're not," she said hatefully.
I deserved that.
I'd been against the human since the beginning but, I was just trying to keep her from getting hurt.
"Fine I'm not sorry you ended things," I said honestly as she looked at me in disbelief.
It killed me how she already knew how I felt about something but, got mad when I was honest about it.
"But, I am sorry you're hurting," I said taking a risk and looking at her directly.
Her eyes started to tear up immediately and she buried her face in her knees.
"Hey, hey, it's ok, come here," I said wrapping my arms around her.
She sobbed as I pulled her close.
"I should of listened to you. I'm such a horrible person. I was selfish to think I could be with him. It's was unfair to him and now I've ruined everything," she said in between cries.
"No...you were just being...human...we might be mai but, we still have feelings. You made a mistake. It happens all the time and you'll get past it," I said as she wiped her eyes and dragged her face from my chest.
She smiled a small smile.
"Thanks Alec," she said lightly.
"Plus look on the bright side. You get to cry on my shoulder and cuddle as we watch Casablanca," I said swugly knowing it would make her laugh, which she did.
She shoved me in the shoulder playfully before lying her head back down.
We stayed there just holding each other until she fell asleep.
I tucked her in and hovered over her as she slept.
I kissed her on the forehead whispering, "Sweet dreams."
I slipped out the way I slipped in, taking my place on her roof, smiling at the recent memory of having her in my arms.
