Not entirely sure where I'm going with this story but here's the first chapter. Felt the need to start writing again! Enjoy! ~markaleen

Another weird day at court. Harry's old friend from school came to visit and her and Harry were caught by everyone in his office without their clothes. Then her husband came. After awhile everything worked out and was mostly back to normal.

Christine lay in bed trying to fall asleep with no luck. She couldn't get over how jealous she felt over Harry's friend. She hadn't felt that way in a long time. She just couldn't get him out of her mind. It was one of those things that anything and everything reminded her of him. Finally, she realized that she just couldn't deny her feelings for Harry any longer. She jumped out of bed, put on a jacket, and rush out the door. She had to tell him now no matter how late it was. She didn't even change out of her pajamas.

The elevator arrived at Harry's floor. She slowly started walking down the hallway, but gained speed as she kept thinking of him. She was practically running by the time she reached the door. She began knocking loudly nonstop. Meanwhile, Harry woke up startled by the knocking. Quickly, yet cautiously, he approached the door.

"Who is it?" she shouted over the noise.

"Harry, its Christine!"

Christine? What brings her here at this hour? He quickly opened the door. "Christine, what's wro-"

He was interrupted by Christine's kiss. He didn't know what had gotten into her but he kissed back anyway; he wasn't stupid.

Slowly they parted. Harry looked at Christine very confused. "What's this all about?" he couldn't help but giggle.

"I'm so sorry, Your Honor… or Harry. Or, I don't know what came over me. I just couldn't get you off of my mind. I was so jealous of Leslie, I don't know why, I just was. I don't know why I'm feeling what I'm feeling but I really needed to let you know that I think I still have some feelings for you. I know I've just made a big awkward mess but I couldn't help myself. I just found myself coming over here and I just needed to see you!" She was doing her best to hold back tears.

He hugged Christine, "You were really jealous of Leslie?"

"Yes… it's hard knowing who I want and not being able to be with them."

"I know what you mean…"

"You still upset that she's married?" she said hoping Harry wouldn't notice the tear that escaped her eye.

"No, I was over that a while ago."

She backed away from Harry a bit, "Then what do you mean?"

"You can't think I got over you that quickly do you?" he said with a smile.

"Then why were you with Leslie?"

"I was trying to get my mind off you silly."

Christine smiled as Harry kissed her reassuringly. He was wishing that would last forever, but to his disappointment she backed away… again. "What?"

"There is still the problem with work."

He sighed, that factor totally slipped his mind. "Oh… yeah."

Christine walked over to the sofa and sat down. "What are we going to do? We could lose our jobs!"

Harry sighed once again and sat down next to her and took her hand, "I know…"

She turned to him, "But I also know that I-" she stopped herself before she continued.

"You what?"

"I really don't want to give you up…" a few more tears fell from her eyes.

Harry wiped away her tears slowly, he didn't want to give her up either. He also didn't want to give up his job. Not yet anyway. What if it didn't work between him and Christine? If one of them gave up their jobs and it didn't work out then whoever gave up their job would have to start back at the beginning. Also what would happen to their friendship? Well, it wouldn't really matter either way know. The truth was out. It wasn't easy to ignore this time. He knew he wanted to take his chances with Christine but at the same time was worried. "Christine… what if for some reason we don't work out? I don't want either of us to be put in the position of finding a new job or being in a new place."

"I was just thinking the same thing…" They were both silent for a few minutes until Christine spoke again. "I have an idea… but now that I've said that it sounds really stupid."

"I'm sure it's not, what is it?"

She looked at him with a slightly guilty face, "Promise you won't laugh?"

"Promise."

She took a deep breath and began speaking, "I was just thinking that maybe… we both want to see how you and me as a couple would work out right?"

"Right."

"But we can't really do that with work right?"

"Yeah…"

"Well… maybe for awhile we could have… we could keep us a secret? I know it sounds kind of cliché but think about it. We would be able to see how we work without pressure from anyone else, we can see how our relationship interferes with our jobs or not, and if for some reason we don't work out we don't have to explain to anyone and it may be easier to go back to being just friend…" How much more pathetic could that get?

"I love it." He smiled.

She sighed with relief. "You really think so?"

"Of course!"

She smiled, "Oh thank goodness!"

He grinned, "You know, it's actually kind of romantic…"

"You mean a secret relationship?"

"Yeah…"

She smiled, "You're right, it is."

They both laughed. Then Christine put her arms around Harry, "Okay, now kiss me again and I promise I won't back away." She giggled. As did Harry and again they kissed. It seemed like each time they kissed it was better; more passionate. Eventually they were lying down of the couch. Christine was suddenly worried that this may be going too fast, but she didn't want to back away again. She knew what she had to say couldn't go unsaid though so she just began to talk and hoped Harry could back away first. "Harry…"

"Yes?"

"I have something important to say."

"What's that?"

"Well it's kind of… complicated."

"And you don't want to go back on your word…"

"Not really…"

Harry laughed as he backed away; he loved how she took little things so seriously. Most of the time anyway. "So what's on your mind?"

She sat up, "I know this seems sort of… old-fashioned but, I don't think he should rush into the really… physical part just yet… I mean no more than what we were just doing. I want to be sure about everything before that."

Harry was actually pretty happy that she was the one to say that, he felt the same way. "I have absolutely no problem with that."

"Really you don't?"

"I was afraid I was going to have to be the one to say that."

She laughed, "As long as we both agree."

They both smiled as they lay back down and picked up where they left off.
