Henry was just putting breakfast on the table when Punky walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning Punky, how did you sleep?"

Punky shrugged, "Okay I guess."

Henry noticed that she seemed upset about something. "Punky, are you alright?

"Yeah… I'm just trying to figure out what to do for Cherie's birthday. It's in just a couple days and I have no idea what to do!" she said as she sat down and started eating.

Henry joined he at the table, "Didn't you make her that T-Shirt and buy that record she'd been wanting? You also made that wonderful card."

Punky sighed, "Yeah, but Henry, those are just gifts. I want to do something really special."

"That's very sweet. I know you and I know you will think of something wonderful."

Punky smiled as best she could, "Thanks Henry." She quietly finished her breakfast as she thought. There has to be something I can do! The only thing I can think of is a surprise party but I did that last year. No, this year it has to be better! A movie? Nah, we do that all the time. Oh there HAS to be SOMETHING!

As she was almost out the door for school she quickly turned around and yelled, "I got it!"

Henry jumped, "Got what?"

"I got what I can do for Cherie's birthday!"

"That's great! What?"

"I want spend the day do whatever she wants. Then have a special dinner! We could dress up and go to one of those fancy restaurants and everything! Oh wouldn't that be so much fun?"

Henry heard the word fancy and new that this wasn't going to be cheap. "How fancy did you have in mind?"

"I don't know… one of those places where they kick you out if you don't look fancy!"

Henry sighed, he did not want to spend the money but he knew that Punky desperately wanted to do something special for her best friend so he didn't argue it. "Alright… I'll let Mrs. Johnson know…"

Punky ran to hug Henry, "Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! This will be the best birthday she's ever had!" she quickly ran out the door so she wouldn't be late for school. It sure was going to be hard to keep this a secret from everyone, especially Cherie.

It was finally Cherie's birthday. Punky woke up extra early so she could help Mrs. Johnson make Cherie's favorite breakfast; sausage and hash browns. After Cherie ate her and Punky and Mrs. Johnson headed out. They went bowling, to the arcade, to a movie, then to the park. Then they went back home where they got dressed up to go to the restaurant.

After they got home, they were both tired from their big day. Cherie was sleeping over at Punky's. Before they went to sleep they talked a bit.

"Punky?" Cherie asked.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you!"

Punky giggled, "Aw you're welcome, you're real welcome!"

"This was definitely the best birthday I have ever had!"

"I'm so glad!"

Not much was said after that. They both went to sleep remembering all the fun they had that day.

The End.
