Vacant Secrets

The interrogator walked back and forth from me, I looked down. I don't remember much, from what happened, but the questions would just give me flashbacks, but not clear ones either.

"So how did you get there," he asked.

"I- I don't quite remember how," I told him trying to remember.

"Are you sure, you're not lying," he said with a long stare.

"I'm trying my hardest to remember."

"Well then, take your time, you may go," he informed me letting me out of that suffocation.

The ride was silent, and I just stared out the window, I was trying to remember what led me there. I sat there, thinking, but I couldn't remember. I know for a fact that my boyfriend and I got into a fight and we went our separate ways, and never turned back. Why was this so difficult to remember?

"We're here," my mother said interrupting me from my thoughts.

I stepped out of the car, and walked up the front steps. Unlocking the door and entering, I walked in and breathed in the scent of home.

"Feels good to be home," I said inhaling the smell yet again.

"Glad you're back home, are you hungry," she asked.

"Um, no not really, I'm just going to go get some shut eye," I told her as I walked up the stairs to my room.

When I reached the bedroom, I entered it, seeing it hadn't been changed at all. It feels like forever since I've seen it. I sighed as I changed into my pajamas, and flopped onto my bed. I heard a knock on the door, and saw my mom peak in.

"Hey mom," I said.

"Someone's here to see you," she said unsure whether I would accept the visitor.

"Um, sure let them in."

"Okay."

The door creaked further and I saw Demi, and Nick walk in. Nick came to me and hugged me, and I could feel his tears running down. I couldn't help, but cry too.

"I'm so glad you're okay," he said wiping my tears away.

"Thanks," I turned to Demi and motioned for her to come over, "hey sis, I missed you."

"I missed you too Selly," she said as the tears came running down her face as well.

That night we just stayed talking, just Demi and I, obviously cause Nick had to go, but promised to visit me tomorrow. I felt like everything was perfect. Like nothing happened.

That night I slept peacefully, until mini flashbacks filled my mind. I was running away, from something, I can't see what's chasing me, but I wouldn't stop running. I tripped and fell then everything went blank. I woke up from the dream to see that it was already 7:46 in the morning. I sat there, trying to take it in. I grabbed a notebook from the nightstand and wrote down exactly what happened.

7.15.11

I had a strange dream. I was being chased by something unknown, and I just kept running, I tripped over something and then everything went black, I can't remember where I was, but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.

I put the book down, and headed downstairs, to see my mom getting ready for work. I walked over to the pantry, and grabbed some bread. Toast was going to be my breakfast.

"Hey, honey, I might be home late, but don't wait up, okay," my mother said.

"Alright mom, I'm just going to be in my room, anyway," I told her as I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Okay, be safe. I love you sweetie, and could you pick up Demi, from school?"

"Yeah, sure no problem," I told her.

"Okay then, be safe, I'll see you later," she said as she left out the door.

I sighed and grabbed my toast out of the toaster. I heard panting and I saw my dog, Buster, coming into the kitchen. I smiled at him and gave him a piece of my toast.

"How's my Buster," I cooed at him.

He responded by wagging his tail and laying on his back. I sighed, there is something about a dog stuck in my head. I can't remember what. I closed my eyes for a moment, when I saw a black Doberman viciously barking at me as I was being dragged into what looked like a building. I gasped and ran upstairs to my notebook.

7.15.11

I remember seeing a Doberman, barking at me viciously, as if it wanted to attack me, I don't know why, but I felt two strong arms, and it felt like I was being dragged into what seemed like a run down, building? I couldn't remember exactly.

I sighed knowing these visions were probably going to be popping up out of nowhere. I decided to go for a walk with Buster hoping it would clear my mind of things. He seemed stubborn about putting on his leash, and made me frustrated. I gave up and went upstairs. My room was bright due to the sun shining directly into my room. I just laid on my bed for what seemed hours before my phone rang.

"Hello," I answered.

"Is this miss Gomez," the person on the other line asked.

"Uhm yes, may I ask who's wondering," I said.

"Oh this is Mr. Walsh, I was wondering if you remembered anything."

I looked over to my notebook, and sighed, "Sorry, sir, nothing at the moment."

"Oh well get to me when, you find something out," he said.

"Alright I will, bye," I said and hung up the phone.

Why did I lie to him, I asked myself repeatedly after pacing my room for about ten minutes. I looked at the time and saw that it was time to pick up Demi, I sighed and grabbed my keys and drove to her school.

I sat there feeling kind of out of place, since I haven't been to school in quite a while. I didn't want to get pitied either, but it just didn't feel like the same atmosphere as before, it felt as if it were of fear, not the joyful typical high school atmosphere you feel when you walked in or drove by. Something had changed since I went missing.
