Sarah Beth's POV;
I wasn't some princess, and I sure wasn't going to take any charity. I was my own person, and I could handle myself. Unlike my sister, Makenna Grace, she couldn't handle herself. She was the gorgeous girl who couldn't fight her own battles. She had brown hair up to her shoulders, and bright blue eyes. She was the prettiest girl in school, not to mention the most popular.
I was just me. Sarah Grace. I had long blonde hair, which came past my shoulder blades. I had bright green eyes, they looked unreal to me. I hated looking unreal. I was as real as it could get. I would tell you what I thought of you without holding back, I was honest, and mean most of the time. I fought a lot too. I had quite a temper.
"Sarah," my sister called. "Sarbear," she smiled coming into my bedroom.
"What?" I demanded.
"Colt's here," she smiled.
"Send him up," I said, I couldn't help but smile. My sister was the only one who knew I was practically in love with my best friend. Colt Douglass was amazing. He was so built up with anger and frustration. He had a temper, and he was pretty mean at times. But, I guess that's why I loved him. He was like me in that way. I have quite a temper.
"Hey Sarbear," he laughed coming into my room.
"If you ever call me that again, I will injure you!" I said, trying not to laugh.
"I'm a ninja, remember? You couldn't hurt me," he smirked.
"Yes, but I'm your best friend, you'd let me hurt you," I laughed.
"In your dreams, Sarbear!" he laughed.
"You're gonna get it!" I laughed and jumped on him. We went tumbling to the ground.
I made me way on top of him, holding him down.
"Sarah, I didn't know you could fight like that," Colt began.
"Shut up!" I laughed, not letting him up.
"Sarbear got game," he laughed harder.
"Don't make me hurt you, Colt. You're too cute to get beat up by a girl!" I laughed, and then realized what I said.
"You think I'm cute?" he smirked.
"You wish…" I covered.
"You said it!" He laughed, catching me off guard; he rolled me over and was on top.
"You're the one who dreams about it!" I laughed.
"No, you dream about me dreaming about you calling me cute," he smiled.
"Nope, you dream about me dreaming about you dreaming about me dreaming about you dreaming about calling you cute!" I said, confused by my own words.
"Alright, too many words, let's just say you think I'm cute, and I dream about you calling me cute," he smiled. Did he say he wanted me to call him cute? I smiled at the thought.
"Earth to Sarah," he laughed.
"Oh, huh?" I asked.
"Let's just watch the movie?" he suggested. There was a DVD player in my room, and we were about to watch the newest scary movie; it was suppose to be the scariest ever. I was petrified.
"Alright…" I trailed off.
"Scared?" he smiled.
"You wish!" I said confidently.
"Alright, enough with the big bad talk, Sarah," he smiled. "Sarah Beth, I know you're scared," he called me by my full name. I liked it.
"How did you know?" I asked, blushing.
"You're you. I know you, and I know you get scared easily. Don't worry. I'm here," he smiled. Colt had a soft side, alright. That's the side that made me stay in love with him. I turned the movie on, and the lights off and sat beside him on my bed.
After I let Colt in the house, I decided to go for a walk; bad idea, by the way. It was dark, and I was getting scared. A man walked behind me, he was rather large.
"Hey, beautiful, where you going?" he asked, smirking at me. I turned to see his face. It had scares on it… it was beginning to scare me, so I walked faster. He began to run until he made it to my side.
"Did you hear me, broad?" he asked, looking angry. "I asked where you were going."
"Away from here," I said, starting to run, but he grabbed my wrist.
"Somebody help me!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.
"Shut up, will ya?" he yelled, shoving his hand over my mouth. I bit it, hard. I didn't let go until I tasted blood.
"Why, you little…"
"Someone!" I screamed. "Help!" I noticed I was right in front of the Douglass's house. Colt's older brother, Rocky would be there.
"ROCKY!" I screamed. He rushed outside.
"Kenna, is that you?" he asked, and then he noticed the man, shoving himself on me. "Hey! Get off of her!" he rushed over and grabbed the hand that crushed my wrist, and twisted it until I heard a pop. I think that was his goal. The stranger yelled with pain. Rocky wasn't finished. He jumped on the man until he fell to the ground, and punched him in the face. I saw blood everywhere. I was scared.
"Rocky! No! Get off of him!" I pulled Rocky off. Rocky looked furious. I've never seen Rocky lose control like that. I pulled rocky into the dark of night, and to the park. We sat on a bench in silence.
"Rocky… what happened to you? You lost control, didn't you?" I asked.
"I um, I didn't mean to hurt him…"
"Shh," I hushed him, smiling. "Thanks."
"Anytime, Makenna," he said, still not smiling. I hugged him, without thinking. He hugged back and before I knew it I crushed our lips together.
"Kenna?" he asked. "Did you just…"
"No…" I trailed off. "I have to go…"
Sarah Beth was so pretty. Why didn't have the guts to tell her that? Why couldn't I just tell her that every time I see her, my dull little angry world gets better? She makes me smile. She's my only reason not to beat the hell out of half the guys at school. She restrains me. She makes me happy. But I just couldn't tell her that. I was a chicken. I could take on 5 ninja's at once, but I couldn't tell Sarah she made my world go round? I was such a wuss.
"Colt!" she shrieked, flinging her arms around me waist, and burying her head in my chest. I laughed.
"Scared much, Sarbear?" I laughed. She looked up at me, and I smiled. I wanted to kiss her….wait did I want to kiss her? Wow… I never thought of it like that. But I did; I wanted to.
"Shut up and protect me!" she said, I saw the fear in her eyes. I normally would have joked with her, but she looked petrified.
"Are you okay, Sarah Beth?" I asked, concerned.
"I um, I think so," she paused. I then noticed our position. I was lying down on her bed, and she was lying in front of me, turned away from the TV. He arms around my waist, and head in my chest. Well, it was then she looked up at me. I wanted to feel her lips on mine. Wait, did I seriously just think that? Then it happened. The closet door flew open, and Sarah clung to me, and our lips met on accident.
