A/N: Hey readers. This is my very first Planet of the Apes story so please go easy on me. I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes today and I loved every moment of it and as I was watching it a thought came to mind. A kind of sequel popped into my head and as I was coming home I started writing it on my iPod Touch. This is only the prologue. I'm trying to get the first official chapter up tonight but I don't think I'll be able to. This story takes place about 11 or so months after the events of the movie so I hope you like it.

The Way Things Are

Prologue

Every story has a beginning and for Will Rodman, his had just started. After everything that had happened with his adopted 'son' Caesar, Will had learnt to let go of everything that had happened in the last 7 years. He had already lost his father and had almost lost Caesar due to his rebellion against the humans that had brought him and his new ape friends harm. Letting Caesar go was one of the hardest things Will had ever done. After reuniting with his girlfriend Caroline, he had proposed marriage and she had accepted but what worried them was Caesar.
