Dream Dance

As I held you in my dream

and slowly led you in the dance,

now we meet, not in a dream,

touch, and dance once more.

Not a sad waltz this time.

But even now, as in the dream, 

our time is fleeting.

We must enjoy the dance

even as time fades.

The sad waltz, the perfect dance,

Only in a dream.

As we danced around each other,

advancing and retreating

but never touching or connecting,

In our dreams we danced together,

not apart, not afraid.

Why can we touch and dance

only in our dreams?
