Hey there guys, Solarking here with yet another new story, but first some update news. Chapter 9 of Alternate Lives is nearly done, and should be up by Wednesday. Chapter 2 of Past, Present and Future is halfway done and should be up around the same time. Now onto this story, I was disappointed by the lack of Sacred Blacksmith stories, and all of them are one-shots. So I decided to write a multi-chapter one. Please note that this story takes place after the anime ended, so it won't necessarily reflect the manga version. The ball, the one from the most recent manga volume will be the opening in this story, just under a different context, since Siegfried already attacked and fled. Please enjoy and don't forget to review. I don't own Sacred Blacksmith which sucks.
Ch. 1: A Date with the Inevitable
It had been a few months since Siegfried's attack on Housman, and the city was still being repaired. That wasn't the first thing on people's minds though, because there was a ball coming up, being hosted in honor of the Knight-guards who risked their lives in order to defend the city. Everyone was excited, except Cecily Cambell. She was required to attend, but she wasn't looking forward to it. First off, she hated getting dressed up and wearing fancy dresses since her knight-guard armor was easier to deal with, and plus that's what she preferred to where, whether she was on duty or off, the other reason was since she had no date for it. There was one person she would love to go with though, and that was Luke Ainsworth. But who was she kidding, he'd never go with her, he probably wouldn't go period. But here she was walking towards the cottage where Luke and Lisa ran their blacksmithing business. She neared the cottage, and Lisa greeted her cheerfully.
"Hi Cecily, where's Aria today?" the young blonde girl asked after seeing that the demon sword of wind wasn't there with her.
"She said she had other things to do today, so it's just me. Um, where's Luke anyway?" Cecily responded slightly nervously. She had planned to ask him to the ball, because he probably wouldn't ask her anyway.
"Luke's in the house right now, why don't you go say hi to him." Lisa responded with a big smile. She had a sneaking suspicion about what this visit was about, and she was hoping that something good would come of it.
Cecily walked inside the house slowly, composing her thoughts about what she was going to say to Luke. As she stepped into the main room she saw Luke sitting by the window, staring out into the horizon.
"Um, hello Luke." Cecily greeted rather nervously.
"Hey there Cecily." He replied, and then it was complete silence, a rather awkward silence.
Cecily decided to break it first. "I wanted to ask you something, Luke, are you going to the ball this week?"
"Maybe, it depends on certain factors though." Luke replied rather mysteriously.
"What kind of factors are you talking about Luke?" Cecily asked not really knowing what kind of answer to expect.
"It depends on if I have someone to go with." He answered as he got up from the chair and approached her.
"Luke, are you asking me to the ball?" Cecily asked with a surprised tone. She didn't actually expect Luke to ask her to the ball, or at least she was hoping that's what he was trying to say.
"Yes, Cecily Cambell," he held out his hand," will you go to the ball with me?"
Cecily was dumbstruck; she couldn't believe he actually asked her, she was thrilled beyond belief. Tears started to swell up in her ruby red eyes from pure happiness.
"Of course I'll go to the ball with you Luke; I'd love to go with you." Cecily replied as she took Luke's hand. He pulled her close to him in a tight embrace, and his lips slowly approached hers. But before their lips could meet, Lisa shouted out from outside.
"Luke, Cecily, lunch is ready!" Lisa shouted out, not realizing she interrupted their would be first kiss.
"Uh, come on, we'd better head outside." Luke said slightly disappointed that there moment had been ruined.
"Yeah, let's go Luke." Cecily agreed, also slightly disappointed about the fact that their moment was ruined.
Lisa had already set up the table for lunch with lots of food. Lisa had secretly listened in on their conversation, so she knew what happened, except for the almost kiss though.
"So, what were you two talking about in there?" Lisa asked trying to make it sound like she hadn't eavesdropped earlier.
"Let's just say that I found a reason to go to the ball after all." Luke answered, smiling at Cecily who smiled back at him.
"Oh, wow, that's great guys, so when's the wedding?" Lisa asked in a teasing manner. The question froze Cecily and Luke in place out of pure shock from Lisa's teasing.
"Lisa," Luke started still caught off guard," I just asked her to the ball, that doesn't mean we're getting married."
"I know your not getting married yet, the question was when, not if you're getting married." Lisa responded happily. Luke just stood there not believing that she outsmarted him, while Cecily just stood there with her face the color of a bright red tomato.
The rest of the visit was pretty uneventful, aside from Lisa's constant teasing that is. Cecily still couldn't believe that Luke had asked to the ball, and that they almost kissed, if it hadn't been for Lisa's interruption. Cecily couldn't wait to tell Aria later, she would be thrilled for her. Aria had constantly been reassuring Cecily that Luke liked her, and it turned out that she was right. It surprised Cecily that a sword seemed to know more about romance and stuff than she did. Then there was her mother of course. She had been complaining about the fact that Cecily still hadn't managed to get a boyfriend, especially since many boys would kill to be with a girl with a huge chest, which still embarrassed her that everyone talked about her breasts like that.
A few hours later, night began to fall over the city, and Cecily was exhausted. Aria had taken the news exactly how she had predicted, bouncing off the walls with pure excitement while constantly yelling,"I told you so!" Her mother while equally as excited, showed a lot more self-control than Aria had, which was a great relief to Cecily. So as Cecily drifted off to sleep, she was able to peacefully dream of the upcoming ball, and for once in her life, she was actually looking forward to wearing a dress.
That's all for now, hope it turned out okay, because I think it did. The next chapter will be the ball itself, if this feels rushed, it's because I want to start to introduce the main plot as early as possible. I hope you enjoyed it, and remember to review, thanks!
