Spoilers: Not really, just minor spoilers for volume 6 when Gon fights Guido (the top-man). =D
Disclaimer: Is the slashy factor between Gon and Killua really really high? Er.. don't answer that. ^^; Either way, this series belongs to Mr. Togashi.
Author's Note: It's stupid, short fluff. But I felt the need to put up some HxH stuff since there's a new category for them! =D Snippet originally premiered in my diary.
PS: It's short. I hate short fics. Why do I always write them? ::SIGH::
A distant past, a distant future
If you are out there somewhere,
Cold and alone, I know you would still be overflowing with kindness

Killua entered his friend's room without knocking, easily balancing the large tray filled with Gon's breakfast: toast, strawberry jam, sliced oranges, soft-boiled eggs, and a frothy glass of milk.
It had been a few days after Gon's fateful encounter with the spinning tops, and the young boy was now stuck in bed due to the many fractures he received. Killua felt the childish urge to stop playing maid to his friend--if nothing else, to teach him a lesson--but how can one resist Gon's adorable expression when his stomach growled loudly in hunger?
He better appreciate all the trouble I went through to get this, the child assassin thought, as he shut the door. Gon was sitting upright in his bed, eyes shut, and an unmistakable aura filled the room.
Practicing Ten... again... Killua smiled.
Setting down the tray by the bedside, he waited patiently for Gon to notice him.
Story of my life. Waiting patiently for him to notice me... The boy frowned. Where did that thought come from?
After a moment, Gon's nose twitched and his large, dark eyes popped open. "You're back!" He grinned widely, twisting his head to stare at the tray stuffed full of steaming goodies.
"Yuuuu~p," Killua replied with a patient expression, brow raising as Gon reached around with a wince of pain to pull the tray into his lap.
"Itadakimassssuu*! "Gon, don't speak with your mouth full." The statement was ignored as the food continued to disappear.
Killua sighed--in a little fondness--and set his chin in his palm, watching his friend eat with unblinking, cat-like eyes.
Gon was so... ... so different. Killua couldn't put his finger on it. The innocent charm, the naivete, the continued wonder about the world... normally, Killua found these traits to be easily exploited--something that could be turned against the person. But Gon...
Gon was not afraid of him.
Killua smiled faintly as Gon wiped a milk moustache off his lip with a napkin. Yes, Gon was not afraid of him. And that was what Killua loved most about this short, backwater boy.
Loved? Killers don't like or love anything. But then, killers don't have friends either, and he sure proved his brother wrong on that. With his father's blessing no less.
So maybe it wouldn't be too far a thing for him to... Killua's cheeks grew warm.
Gon blinked at the light-haired boy. "Killua? What's wrong? Are you hot?"
"N-not at all!" The other slapped his hands over his cheeks in an attempt to hide them.
"Are you sure?" Gon pressed a palm to Killua's forehead. "You feel a little warm."
"N-no way!!"
"Okay..." And back to breakfast Gon went, biting into a piece of toast slathered with jam. Killua breathed a sigh of relief.
And continued to watch him.
The impulse was sudden then. Killua had never done it before, but had seen it happen in movies and TV. He was curious.
He kissed him.
It was quick, shy, and clumsy--not exactly the way Killua would have imagined sweeping Gon off his feet, but it was done. The assassin jerked back, licking his lips--Gon tasted like strawberries and cream. And that damn blush returned.
Silence.
Gon stared at his friend wide-eyed and curious. "What was that for?"
Scratching his ear in embarrassment, Killua looked away, his pale cheeks even more red. "Cause.. um.. I like you."
"Oh." Gon considered a moment, then leaned over and pecked Killua on the cheek. "I like you, too!" And smiled.
Killua sweatdropped. He doesn't get it. But he smiled back. Maybe it was better if Gon didn't know.
In case... in case... Irumi was right..
No!! Gon is my friend... I'll never hurt him... and I'll kill anyone that tries.
Irumi was not right.
And Killua could believe that, gazing into Gon's smile.
*when the snippet was originally in my diary, it had a lot of Japanese words (namely cause I love the way Killua speaks in Japanese--it's so .. so.. o.O; strange). I took them out for the version, but the word 'itadakimasu' is hard to translate into a comfortable way (in this case, it means 'thank you for the food'... 'itadaki' is 'to get something'), so I left it in its original form. I normally frown on Japanese text being used in 'serious' fiction (except in the case of honorifics, especially when they're used heavily from one character to another: ie: in Mankin, Manta calls Yoh "Yoh-kun"), but.. well.. o.X YAH.
