PREFACE:

Long, long ago, there lived a boy named, Edward Anthony Masen Cullen.

He once was an orphan who lived among the streets, until he was rescued by the King and Queen of England, Carlisle and Esme Cullen.

They took him in as if they were his own son, since they were not able to produce any children of their own.

And soon he became a prince.

They gave him anything his heart desired.

And his first wish, was to have two brothers, and two sisters.

The King and Queen granted his wish, and they ran to the village orphanage.

They were able to retrieve two boys and two girls.

The two girls were named Alice Brandon, and Rosalie Hale. And the two boys were named Emmett McCarthy and Jasper Whitlock.

Edward had loved them very dearly and they had returned that very same kindness back.

But over time, Edward became...distant.

He grew cruel and unkind and selfish to his servants, and to his family.

They were appalled in his change of behavior.

When Edward turned seventeen summers old, an elderly woman had visited them.

It was a dark stormy night, and it was raining very hard. She had begged him for shelter, a hot meal, and some newly dry clothes.

But he had turned her away.

She had warned him to not be fooled by mere looks, for there is more on the inside than there is to the outside.

But he had turned her away, yet again.

Then, as if by magic, the elder woman had transformed into a beautiful sorceress.

Edward was stunned by her beauty, and desperately tried to apologize to the wise sorceress-but she did not accept it.

For it was too late.

The sorceress had casted a spell on his entire family, his servants, and his castle.

They had turned into glorious creatures-so beautiful and graceful-but they were ruled by a bloodlust and a never ending immortality that had consumed them from the very moment that had opened their eyes after three days of facing burning pain.

Vampires.

The once beautiful snow white castle, so grand and elegant, had turned to an ugly pitch black, the stone angels had turned to gargoyles and hideous beasts that could not be looked upon.

But there was still hope to be found.

If young Edward could find love in his stone cold heart and if she could return that same love in return before his one hundred and tenth birthday, he would return human.

But if he could not find it-then he and his family were doomed to live the existence of bloodsucking demons that took human form.
