London's Burning - EzBoard Fic #1

Summary: The first fic story from the EzBoard, lots of goings ons.

Gemma:

Adam was never the subtle one when it came to letting a girl down gently and the bruise from the slap in the face proved it.

"Dumped what's 'er name then?" Hi - Ho asked, noticing the bruise on Adam's face and chuckled slightly.

"Her name was Isobel and yes I dumped her," Adam grumbled and he touched his cheek and winced slightly from the pain.

"I always knew she was too good for you," Recall said as he joined the others around the locker area.

"Too good for me?" Adam questioned.

"Yeah... well she's a university graduate and you're..."

"A fire figher Recall, the same as you!" Adam shouted.

Recall didn't reply, just shook his head, then walked out of the locker room and the others followed.

Adam hit his locker hard, then afterwards, wished he hadn't.

*Damn it hurt*

He thought about what Elaine had said earlier...

"You never could keep a good girl for more than two weeks."

And she was so true...

"Ah he appears!" Hi - Ho said grinning as Adam appeared in the mess.

"Shut it Hi - Ho," He grumbled as he sat down.

Just then the bells went off, they all stood up and made their way down to the applicances.

"Fire... on the Buckingham industrial estate..." Hyper called out over the noise as they all lept into the appliances...

Nat:

They all jumped into both appliance (PL and Pump i think if thats wrong sorry). They spend though the street of London and passed Buckingham Palace "Everyone wave to the queen" Adam joked as they passed the rest of the appliance members where not impressed.

As they arrived at the scene, they could see that the fire had been going for some time as was out of control and they need more back-up. "George get on to control make pumps 4 query persons reported" They all piled out of the appliance "Rob, Sally, Adam BA, HiHo BA control the rest get those people back and get some jets ready.

Gemma:

"Yes Geoff," They all chanted as they set off in their directions to do what they were ordered to do.

George jumped in the cab of the appliance and was onto control, "M2FS from echo 441..."

Hyper, Sally and Adam got kitted up in their BA gear and entered the fire...

Recall and George, after finishing his call to control, sprayed jets of water on the outside of the building, along with some of the guys from Shadbrook and the flames began to die away...

Nat:

"Oh look you lot arrive and it dies down must know you lot hate hard work" George and Recall laughed " Very funny" Melissa said "Whats going on then Geoff" He turned to face Melissa "Rob, Sally and Adam are inside looking for casualties, so if you can get some of your lot in there it may help, and need some jets on the otherside" Melissa nodded "Blackwall Pump Ladder 3, to BA Control over" Geoff and Melissa listend as HiHo replied "Go ahead Sally" " We have found 2 caualities, they are both in a bad way, better get an ambulance, we are bringing them out now" "I will get onto control Geoff" Melissa ran to the appliance and ordered her team. She was standing in as watch commader as Steve was on holiday, she got onto control just as Sally and the others were bringing the causalites out.

Sally and Adam laid he caualties on the floor, and checked for pulses they were both badly burnt, but were still alive. "Well done you lot" Melissa said "I am sending two more teams in, were abouts did you get to" "We did the whole building, found these two at the office at the end" "oh" Melissa went to withdraw her BA team as the ambulance arrived.

Jets still battled the fire, but slowly with help from Shadbrook the flames extingused.

Gemma:

The paramedics arrived and the casualties were taken away to the nearest A&E, which could deal with severe burns.

The watch, along with Shadbrook slowly cleared the scene, then made their way back to the station.

Sally sat silently at the table in the mess as Hyper and Recall were sitting at the DreamCast. She couldn't help but think of the day. Entering that fire, pulling out them people who's burns were so bad that they were probably already dead and to think she enters fires for a living.

"Sal?... Sal?"

Sally suddenly clicked to reality and realised someone was calling her name.

"Sal..." Hyper said for the tenth time.

"Hhmmm?" Sally murmured, gazing up at Hyper, who was standing over her.

"Are you ok?" He asked, "You seem... uh... kinda dazed."

"Spaced out..." Adam added.

"Thanks!" Sally said loudly, "No I'm fine."

Nat:

The watch weren't so sure. "Guys i am fine honestly, just a tough day thats all" Rob put his hand on her shoulder, she put her on top "Honestly, i am fine" She tried to make a light joke to convince the watch that she was fine."Who's winning on that thing, not you Rob surely you have enough trouble working a computer" She knew herslef that she was fine, just was a little more emotional then the lads and found pulling burnt people out of a fire more hard hitting then they did, it was a part of the job that she never got used to. The mess door swung open and the guv walked in. "good work today everyone" They all nodded. They all continued with the normal activites as the guv joined Sally at the mess table.

Kaz:

Lunch was a noisy affair as usual. Coleman decided to take his plate up to his office, where he thought he would get some peace. However, he didn't bank on Pearce thinking exactly the same thing!

"I think it's good for the officers to keep some distance from the troops," Pearce was saying.

"Really?" Coleman wasn't particularly interested in Pearce's old fashioned views of management.

"Yes sir."

"Actually, Geoff, I do have a lot of work to do."

"Oh," Pearce paused. "Well I'll leave you to it then."

Coleman breathed a sigh of relief as Pearce left the office. He would admit to anyone that Pearce was a good firefighter, even a good Watch Commander, but too much of him was not good for anyone who wanted to remain sane.

Under the mountain of unfinished, or unstarted, paperwork, he came across an official looking letter. He picked it up to read, wondering how he could have missed it. Or rather, more how Geoff Pearce could have missed it!

The letter notifyed him of some imminent changes at Blackwall.

"Dear Mr Coleman..."

He knew what it was straight away.

"You are required to attend a medical..."

He knew what that meant.

Nat:

Coleman what this meant. He knew this day would come and although he was not yet at retirement age, he was near to it. He couldn't think of life outside the briagde, or didnt want to. He hoped that it didnt come to that.

He carried on reading

"Required to attend a medical at Leyton Fitness Centre......"

A knock at the door disrupted his thought, he put the letter down.

"come in" he said without looking at the door to see who it was.

Gemma:

"Cup of tea sir?" Geoff asked as he entered the office.

"No thank you Geoff," Coleman said, casually placing the letter on the table.

"Everything ok sir?" Geoff asked, noticing Coleman trying to be as discrete as possible with the letter.

Coleman nodded, "Everything is fine, why shouldn't it be?" He questioned Geoff.

Geoff shrugged and turned to leave the office, "Oh yes sir... I almost forgot... DO Griggs was on the phone before you came in this morning, he said he's coming to make a visit in about," Geoff paused to look at his watch, "An hours time."

Nat:

"Oh thanks alot Geoff, dont you think it would have been nice to tell me this morning when you got the call, rather than i hour before he is due, sometimes i wonder if you actually think about anything"

Geoff tried to butt into the Guv speech

"Suppose i had better go and break the news to the watch.

In the mess
Coleman entered the mess where the watch had just finished lunch and were relaxing. Sally still seemed down, her and Rob were having a quiet chat, Adam and HiHo were playing pool, Recall and George were playing on the dream cast. There activites seemed to be interupted by the arrival or there station commander and Watch commander
"Sorry, to bring this on you, but due to the information not being passed on to me until just now, i am afraid you have little notice"
The watch looked confused.
"DO Griggs will be here in one hour for an inspection and to speak to me, sorry this is delayed, but could you please do your best to get this station looking like a fire station and yourselves prepared"

They all got up and went to start there duties.

"Ummm Sally could i please have a quick word in my office before you begin duties"
Sally looked shocked
"Yea ok"
Sally followed Coleman to his office whilst the others, went to get there duties done before Griggs arrived. The all walked pass Geoff with a look of annoynence on there faces, at only being told about the visit an hour before he was due to arrive

Sally and Coleman walked into his
"Take a seat Sally" Sally looked slightly worried about her summons to the office.

Kaz:

"HQ have been talking about you," he started.

He grinned at the worried look which spread across her face.

"Don't worry," he assured her. "It's nothing to worry about! In fact," he reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a pile of papers. "You've been selected to attend a Crew Commanders development course, well done Sally!"

Gemma:

"I... wow..." Sally said astonished.

Coleman smiled, "It'll be a great career move."

"Yes," Sally replied as a smile grew across her face, "Thank you 'Guv... I'm... wow," She said grinning widely, "I won't let you down," She promised.

"I'm sure you won't," He replied smiling, he was so happy to see her look happy. She looked down since coming onto shift and now she'd seemed to cheer up.

Nat:

"What" Sally was shocked, i didnt think i would be accepted. He handed her the letter which she read "I have to attent the course which will be at the LFB HQ in three weeks time, the course is one week and then additional training at current employment" She continued reading down the page. "Well done Sal, you derserve some good news" "Thanks guv" She got up and left the office to go and tell the others.

She arrived in the appliance bay were we met up with Rob and Adam "Whats up, you got a smile the size of the North Down's" Adam joked She handed them the letter which the both read "Congratulation's Sal" Rob gave her a huge hug "Thanks mate" The celebrations were intereputed by Geoff shouting at them "GET ON WITH IT!" he yelled so loud it made Sally drop the letter "Sorry sub, but Sally just got...." "I dont care what Firefighter Fields has got, if it is stopping you working then she can save it till break" Sally looked hurt by his remarks and walked off in the direction of the watch room. Rob and Adam continued cleaning the appliance, wondering why he was in such a foul mood. Pearce walked off in the direction of the watch room.

Gemma:

Pearce walked out of the watch room, thinking of something he needed to do in his office. He walked past the lads, who were cleaning the appliances, then stomped up the stairs.

"What d'ya reckon Hyper?" Adam asked, "Think he found out Fiona's been having an affair or something?" Adam joked.

"Adam, that's not funny!" Sally said listening in on their conversation.

"I wasn't asking for your opinion," Adam answered her.

Sally sighed lightly, shaking her head, "It's still not nice, making up wild stories like that."

Geoff picked up the phone in his office, dialing a number and waiting for the call to be answered.

"Fiona..." He began.

"I've got nothing to say to you Geoff," She replied quickly.

"Fiona... please..." He said as he heard the phone line go dead.
