Title: Cruel

Summary: Love is indeed cruel. Hikaru Hitachiin, Kaoru Hitachiin and Kyoya Otori—all victims of love, Kaoru, the one in love with his twin, Hikaru, unaware of his twin's feelings and Kyoya, the one who hoped for Kaoru's love. What will happen if one falls out of love, one falls in love and one suffers?

Chapter 1

Introduction

Kaoru Hitachiin, the one who falls out of love. Love's cruelty drives him crazy. Who, in his right mind, would fall in love with his own brother, his twin, his other half?

Hikaru Hitachiin, the one who falls in love. Love's cruelty is immune to him. He is the person who is unaware of his brother's feelings, currently dating Haruhi Fujioka to hide and prevent his growing feelings for his twin, Kaoru Hitachiin.

Kyoya Otori, the one who suffers. Love's cruelty kills him. He watches Kaoru Hitachiin every time, hoping Kaoru would know his feelings and return them, yet, sees the reality that Kaoru never looks at him. Kaoru's eyes were directed to his twin, Hikaru Hitachiin.

Three boys. Three hearts. Three persons longing for love. Who would gain love's reward in the end? Will two be happy together, leaving one behind? Will all of them be happy? Will one remain tortured by love's cruelty?

One pleasant day, the host club is now ending. Everyone worked hard that day, now was the time to rest. Kyoya, currently counting the club's earnings that day, directed his look to Kaoru, hoping Kaoru would look back at him. But to his dismay, he found Kaoru looking at his twin, Hikaru. Hikaru, enjoying his time with his girlfriend, Haruhi, never noticed the way his brother looks at him. Oh love. How cruel are can you be, leaving three hearts in agony and pain? Why must one pretend to love another?

As Hikaru escorted Haruhi outside, Kyoya took his chance. "Kaoru," Kyoya called gently. "Yes, Kyoya-senpai?" Kaoru replied. "Can I talk to you? It's quite important," Kyoya asked nervously. "Sure," Kaoru answered. Kyoya practically dragged Kaoru away from Hikaru, who was all lovey-dovey with Haruhi, which Kaoru hated seeing. Kyoya halted by a large window, revealing the moon and it's reflection by the fountain. "Uaaah. So beautiful," Kaoru replied, astonished by the scene before him. While Kaoru admired the scene, Kyoya gently pulled Kaoru into a warm embrace. "Kaoru, you're so beautiful," Kyoya said. There was a certain ring in his voice which makes him irresistible. "K-Kyoya-senpai?" asked Kaoru, confused by the events happening. "I know you only look at Hikaru but, he is not worthy of your love," Kyoya pushed Kaoru gently and raised Kaoru's chin, making an inseparable eye contact. "I, I love you Kaoru. I know it's hard to believe but, I really do. I'd do what it takes for you to love me back,"

Kaoru was dumbfounded. He didn't know what to say. It was the first time that a guy confessed to him. No, he didn't expect the shadow king would fall for him.

"You don't have to answer now. I can wait. I just hope that you realize how much I love and care for you. I also hope that you realize that your love for Hikaru may be a mistake. Please, think about it. You can tell me your answer anytime," Kyoya smiled at Kaoru gently.

"KAORU! Where are yooooou?" Hikaru's voice reached Kyoya's ears. Kyoya chuckled, gesturing Kaoru to respond to Hikaru. "I'm by the fountain with Kyoya-senpai!" Kaoru replied. In less than a minute, Hikaru appeared by the bushes. "Kaoru, let's go. Ah, Kyoya-senpai. Thanks for your hard work," Hikaru grinned. "Yeah, you too," Kyoya replied, coolly. Hikaru grabbed Kaoru and walked away from Kyoya.

When Kaoru and Hikaru reached their limo, Hikaru started blabbering about Haruhi. Kaoru felt a sharp pang in his chest as Hikaru said Haruhi's name with love. He hated this. He want to get away. He pondered over Kyoya's confession. Kaoru faced Hikaru. Hikaru stopped talking.

"Hika. I have something to tell you," Kaoru said on a monotonous voice.

"Yeah?" Hikaru replied.

"I'm dating Kyoya-senpai."
