Chapter 1-Prologue

Summer vacation-two weeks before senior year starts

A smashing noise wakes Puck from a dreamless sleep. He jolts awake and sits straight up in bed. He sits very still, keeping his breathing light and shallow, listening for the noise again.

A few seconds later he hears another smash and a soft voice cursing. Puck balls his hands into fists and slides out of bed. He reaches under his pillow for his switch blade and tip toes to his bedroom door.

He peaks his head out into the hallway for a few seconds to listen once again. You can never be too sure. Puck doesn't want to run down stairs and scare the shit out of his grandmother if she's only making midnight tea or something.

There are three more smashing noises and Puck knows for a fact that his grandmother wouldn't be in the kitchen at this hour breaking shit. He tip toes to the top of the stairs and slowly creeps down them.

When he hits the last step he presses his back against the wall and breaths deeply. Even though Puck can hold his own and then some in a fight doesn't mean he's stupid enough to just bust in on someone trying to rob his house, or whatever they are trying to do.

Puck waits until he hears footsteps making their way towards him. He crouches a little and waits until the footsteps get right next to him before leaping out and presses the knife to the intruder's neck. "What the hell are you doing in my house?" he growls.

The intruder laughs lowly and flicks the knife out of Puck's hand. Puck gasps and takes a step back. The intruder follows him, forcing him to step back even more. He forces Puck to step back until his back hits the wall. The intruder keeps moving forward until they step fully into the light. You want to know the first thing he sees?

Fangs. White, gleaming, dripping disgusting spittle fangs.

"What the fuck is going on?" Puck demands.

The man or whatever smiles at him and breaths in deeply. Puck's skin prickles and he tries to sink even more into the wall. "Have you ever heard of vampire's boy?" the figure asks.

Puck nods his head.

The figure smiles even wider and leans closer to Puck. Closer to his neck.

Puck gulps. "What are you doing?" he asks.

The figure shushes him. "Don't worry my boy. I'm going to give you a gift." He says.

The figure grabs the side of Puck's head and tilts it to the side. Puck swallows the lump in his throat and tries not to shout out. If he shouts out his grandmother will get out of bed and come down here. He can't risk anything happening to her. He squeezes his eyes shut and waits for whatever's about to come.

The figure sniffs his neck for a few seconds before licking a strip along his pulse point. Puck tries not to flinch but he feels so dirty being in this position. Despite what people think and what he tells them Puck has never slept with any women older than him. Never. Not even when he cleans pools in the summer. Sleeping around really isn't his thing. He's never even had sex with Santana, he just lets her lie to people to get other guys.

Suddenly Puck feels a blinding pain in his neck that's spreading down his body. Paralyzing him. His entire body feels like it's going up in flames in seconds and he has no idea what's going on.

Just as he's slumping down the wall he's lifted into the air and he's moving. He can't tell where he's going or what's going on, all he can feel is the burning pain in his body and the cramps building in his stomach.

A few minutes later he's set on something soft and cool and realizes that the figure has carried him back to his room. He tries to turn his head and look at them one last time but he still can't move his body.

He can hear something being set down on the table beside his bed and holds his breath. The figure leans over him and puts their mouth right next to his ear. "I'm sorry I had to do this to you but I couldn't let you walk away after seeing my face. I will come to you when you are ready and I will tell you what I have done to you. I promise. I don't have time to explain it all now. Just know that I have made you a better person. An immortal being."

With those final words Puck hears the figure move away and towards the door. Puck wants so bad to fight the immobilization in his body. To warn the figure not to touch his grandmother.

The figure stops at the door but doesn't turn back to Puck. "Don't worry son. I will not lay a hand on your grandmother. She is safe. Sleep now. Your body will need the rest to reform itself." He says.

Instantly Puck feels tired and he can't fight sleep. As his eyes slip shut he's pretty sure he can hear the front door softly click shut two floors down.

One week later-a week before senior year starts

Puck groans when his stomach lurches for the tenth time in the last hour. He has no idea what's wrong with him but ever since that night a week ago his body has been different. Very different. He doubles over and takes deep breaths. This seems to work every time he does it. It never makes the pain go away completely but it helps a lot and that's all that Puck can ask for at this point.

There's movement behind him and Puck's up and whirling around at inhuman speeds. His fists are raised and his fangs elongate before he can stop them. A surprised gasp leaves his throat and he drops his fists.

The figure, which he can now see is a man, who changed him, is standing in front of him with a small smile on his face. "Hello son. How are you doing?" the man asks.

Puck shrugs. He can feel that this man is not a threat to him so he shoves his hands in the pockets on his jeans and waits for the man to stare why he's here.

The man sighs. "I am here to explain how everything works. As you can see you can obviously go out in the daytime without burning to death…" the man breaks off with a laugh and Puck gives him a dry stare. Again he sighs and continues. "Listen, I know you probably don't want this…"

"You got that right. Don't get me wrong, the strength is pretty damn cool considering I was already really strong before this but what else is there?" Puck demands.

The man smiles. "There is a lot more my boy." Puck gives him a doubtful look and the man smiles again. "You can now run fast then a jet at full speed. Your hearing can pick up conversations over three states away if you take the time to listen. You can now see things up to miles away, even if trees and buildings are in the way. It's kinda like e-ray vision. If you want to see something specific and there are things in the way they kinda just melt away so you have a clear vision of what you want to really see. You just have to make sure you looking in the right direction or you'll see things that you really really don't want to." The man shudders.

Puck is starting to perk up a bit. He hasn't really been trying to figure out what all being a vampire means he can do. He's be hiding in his room the entire time because of the sun rumors and the blood rumors.

"Anyway. Your smelling is also different. Things you liked before you may not hate. That goes for taste too. Your smelling is sharper now, more defined. For example, if you smell ranch dressing, if you actually try to, you can pick each and every ingredient out of the ranch dressing and be able to recreate it. Tasting is the same way. You will be able to taste more of the ingredients in the foods you know eat then before but it won't really affect your eating. If you liked something before but it secretly had an ingredient you hated it still won't bother you, the only thing that your taste enhances is the good things. Which is weird but it works all the same."

Puck gulps and swallows the lump in his throat. "What about drinking blood? Is that all true?" he asks.

The man nods. "Yes but…it's different too. It's not like you read in the books or watch in the movies. The truth is that the only blood you can drink is the blood of your mates. If you try and drink a regular human's blood it's like drinking instant poison and it will kill you. With that said, there are certain humans who are born with abilities. Some know they have them and some don't. These humans are the other halves to us. I know it sounds confusing but it's true. Their blood calls to us; it sings I guess is the right term. Every time we breathe in the scent of our mates blood our entire body lights up on the inside and we have the urge to drink their blood." The man explains.

Puck nods but furrows his brow. "If we can't drink human blood then how in the hell did you change me?" he asks.

"Oh, I didn't drink your blood I injected you with my venom which is what changed you. You were one of those humans with abilities. In order for you to find your mate, or soulmate would be a better word, one of you has to be a vampire. You cannot recognize each other if you are both humans. Only those humans with abilities can be changed and become vampires."

"Why?"

The man shrugs. "I honestly don't know but I do believe it has something to do with a person's mind set. There are certain people born with parts of their minds, souls, bodies, brains and sexes open to, I'm not sure what to call them. Uh…back in the last 1760s a gypsy witch's daughter who was arrogant wanted to try something new so she set up a holy circle and said a few incantations. She ended up killing herself but instead of dying she became a vampire. She had to learn everything on her own. She tried changing people but only some of them survived. She then figured out that humans who don't have any type of abilities inside of them end of going crazy and either killing themselves or getting killed before the change can fully take place. I don't know all of the details."

Puck is staring at the man with his mouth hanging open. "This shit is too weird. What kind of abilities did I have?" he asks.

The man shrugs. "That I do not have the answer to. You still have them you just have to discover them. If you want to of course. There are people who never discover their abilities and still live and happy and normal life. If you don't want the abilities then don't try and unlock them. If you do want to know, then do some tests with people you trust or people who won't ask questions. If you end up finding your mate your abilities with unfold on their own and will become stronger so you'll be able to explore them then."

Puck sighs and flops down in his seat. "Abilities and mates aside is there anything about being a vampire that I need to know about?" he asks.

The man thinks for a second before nodding. "The stomach pain you've been feeling means that your mate is near and your body wants them and their blood. Once you've had a taste of their blood your stomach pain will disappear and you'll be fine. The bad thing is that you're going to have to take the blood while your mate is sleeping and unaware so that your bond can form. And because when you drink blood from your mate when they are awake it's very erotic and sexual. You both with have climaxes and yes that means multiples. You have to do it the first time while they are asleep so that nether of their sexual urges can take over. You'll need a clear head in order to take just enough to form the bond. Once the bond is formed to can go about getting your mate any way you please. I'm sorry to say but if there's anything you have to learn it on your own or with your mate. That's how it goes. If I tell you everything then I can get in trouble and so could you and your mate. Do you understand what I have told you today?" the man asks.

Puck furrows his brow but nods. "Yes. But tell me at least two things." He says.

The man nods. "Of course."

"What is your name and how can I contact you in case something happens?" Puck asks.

The man smiles. "My name is Ryan and all you have to do is call me through your mind. If you truly do need me then I will come. If it's something that you can handle on your own then I'm afraid I may not be permitted to answer you. I will visit you I person every six months and send you a letter at least once a month. You are permitted to answer to that one letter but that is all. It doesn't have to be long or detailed you only have to answer the questions I ask. Is that all you need to know?" Ryan asks.

Puck nods. "I think I have everything. Oh! Do you know who my mate is?" he asks curiously.

Ryan smiles. "I do not know their name but I have a location. Sadly I cannot give it to you. Mates are for each other to find. You have to follow your heart and gut feeling when it comes to the matter of your mate. Goodbye Puck."

For the first time since that night last week Puck smiles. "See ya Ryan." He says to the empty spot where he used to be standing.
