Forever

Chapter 1: Alone Again

She layed heavily on her bed, pillow stained with tears, and thought of that horrible day. It had happened exactly three weeks and five days ago. She found out she was pregnant, and that very day, she wanted to lay down and die. That day, part of herself died, because the man of her dreams, her one true love, destroyed everything they had. He broke her heart and spirit. She had no spirit left. Her soul was dead. It was just as well if she really did die.

She wanted to commit suicide, she had tried. Luckily, Sabin saw her with the knife and stopped her just in time. She hadn't stopped crying since Locke broke up with her. She couldn't feel anything. She was numb. She was still suffering from shock. She had completely lost her appetite. She couldn't eat. Any food she looked at made her sick. She would rarely speak to anyone. She didn't have the will to live. From her point of view, she had nothing to live for.

Her room was always dark. The curtains were never open. The light was never on. She couldn't stand sunlight anymore. It felt to happy and cheerful in sunlight. She wasn't happy or cheerful. She was hurt and depressed. The sunlight just reminded her of Locke. He was always cheery like the sunlight. She didn't want to remember. It hurt her too much. She figured that if she stayed in her room, she wouldn't see or hear anything that would remind her of him. But it wasn't working.

There was nothing else she could do but lay down and waste away slowly. She couldn't make him love her. And if she could, she wouldn't make him stay with her against his will. She didn't want to keep him from happiness. That was the reason why she never told him she was pregnant. She couldn't help but replay that day over and over in her mind. It hurt her so much to hear him say those words. She thought she was going to have a miscarriage.

"I can't believe I'm pregnant!" she shrieked with joy, as she laughed and twirled around in her bedroom. "Locke is going to be ecstatic!" All she had to do was find Locke and tell him.

Just then, Locke came into the room, and he didn't look to happy. She spun around in glee, "Locke!"

"Yeah," Locke said as he scratched his head.

As soon as she seen the look on his face, she knew there was something wrong. She was starting to worry. She walked over to him, "What's wrong?" She asked in a nervous and shakey voice.

"Well, I... This isn't easy for me to say. I mean, we shared something very deep and sacred. Something that only a couple who are truly in love share. But, I have to be honest with you."

She knew it was somethnig serious. He couldn't even say her name. She began to worry even more. Her body filled with panic. What if he knew about the baby and was angry with her? What if he didn't want it? What if he wanted her to get rid of it? What would happen to them? To their baby? "What about?" She finally managed to whisper.

Locke look to the floor. Now she absolutely knew it was going to be something that she wouldn't like. She felt like fainting, but she had to listen to what he had to say. "Well, I don't think this relationship is gonna work," he said glancing up at her and then to the floor again.

The words struck her harder, than any kind of harmful magic, could ever strike her. She felt as if she was going to fall. Her knees buckled. Locke noticed and quickly lifted her up, and layed her on the bed. All she could do was stare at him. She couldn't say anything. Her eyes swelled with tears. Locke noticed and turned away from her.

"I really think we should break up."

She gasped and put her hand over her mouth. She closed her eyes as tears ran down her cheeks. She looked at him in disbelief. He wouldn't turn to look at her. She didn't want to believe it, but by his actions, she knew it was true. He wanted to end their relationship. She felt as if all of the memories flooded her mind. All of her hopes and dreams for the future, crashed to the ground. Her stomach began to feel queasy. She felt dizzy. Everything spun around. The last thing she remembered was feeling weak and fainting onto her bed.

She opened her eyes to see Locke sitting beside her. "Are you alright? I didn't expect for you to take it so hard. I'm sorry." She looked at him blankly, then she remembered what had happened. He had broken up with her. It was over.

"I'm ok," she managed to say and tried to smile. "It's up to you what you do with your life. I only fainted because of the heat. It had nothing to do with you. I swear. I was too hot and I couldn't hold on anymore."

He smiled back. "I'm glad."

He stayed with her another little while and took care of her until she regained her strength. "Well, I'd better be going. I've got a lot of things to do. Ya know, treasure hunting, travelling, that stuff."

She nodded. He turned to leave as her heart ached for him. It broke her heart, just watching walk out of her life like that. But what could she do? It was his choice. She couldn't make him stay. She felt like she meant absolutely nothing to him now. Just another acquaintance. Just like it was after he met Celes. She didn't even get to tell him she was pregnant. Now he would never know.

She didn't want him to take her back because she was pregnant. He wouldn't be coming back for her, to love her, he'd only be coming back for the baby, to love the baby. She didn't want that. She wanted, no, she needed to be loved. Locke couldn't give her that anymore. She knew that if she told him she was pregnant, he would take responsibility. That was the kind of man he was. He was always so loving, trusting, reliable, and so very committed. That's why she loved him so much. He was what she wanted. The perfect man for her. He would put his whole life on hold, just to take care of her and the baby. She didn't want him to do that. She didn't want him to be unhappy because of her.

There were plenty of other men who asked her out. But her heart belonged to the treasure hunter who found it. Her wall was so thick during the war. But the children of Mobliz broke it down. After that, the more time she spent with Locke, the more her feelings grew for him. She ended up falling in love with him. She would have to go back to Mobliz soon. She had to get away from Figaro. If she didn't, she would never be happy again. She had to go back and take care of the children anyway. She couldn't leave Katarin and Duane with all of the work. They had Terra to take care of. That was enough for them. If she could take care of a few dozen children by herself, with a bit of help from Katarin and Duane, one more child wouldn't make a difference. Locke would never have to know.
