Sword of Eternity

Blaque Phantom a.k.a. Pozest star

Chapter 1 of

Strange Happenings

Dark, ominous clouds billowed forward, spewing sharp lightning and angry thunder and in their midst a shady form stood ready for battle.

Link?”

With this odd sword in hand, he charged, ready to face the unknown foe.

Link?”

His attacks were useless against this... this being. He had never battled anything like it! Though this blade was by far stronger than the Master Sword, it only managed stun this enemy. It was like... like...

“Link!” Zelda elbowed his stomach impatiently.

This was the seventh time Link had this very dream, and the seventh time he'd been forced to leave it pre-maturely. “I... I'm sorry princess...” Link bowed low and stood up again, a faint blush appearing on his light cheeks. How was it possible to sleep so soundly while standing? The two, Link and Zelda, had been in the grand hall for almost three hours now. It was a large room; ghostly illuminated with an unnatural blue light in every corner. Every sound the two made, echoed eerily off of the dome shaped glass ceiling.

The sages had contacted them telepathically, with distressing news, and he'd fallen asleep... again.

“As I was saying...” Raruu, the Light sage, coughed, “Something must be done. If this attack should continue the outcome would be disastrous.”

“Yes, but as I said earlier it is impossible! How can we send a mortal to these places?! It is too dangerous.” Impa said in a commanding voice, “You should give us permission to leave. This has gone beyond--”

Raruu coughed again, “I have told you all before, I will not give any of you permission to leave this realm. If something were to happen, and you were gone--”

“Something HAS happened! I agree with Impa!!” Nabooru shouted. The entire spiritual realm, and Zelda, froze at these words. For Nabooru to actually 'agree' with Impa about anything...

“There must be a way! There has to be.” Saria protested. Her voice sounded almost foreign to Link, not that it wasn't pleasing to hear, but it sounded... odd... “Link? What do you think?”

“Yes, I am also curious as to what our hero has to say." A smirk could be heard in Ruto's sassy tone.

Link, being a naturally shy and quiet person, shuddered violently when their attention was turned to him.

“I... uh... er..., what was the question?”

Zelda shook her head in disbelief. “You didn't? You weren't sleep the entire time, were you Link?”

Link gave “terrified nod. “I... I told you... I haven't been able to sleep! Bad dreams princess! Awful!”

“Just a boy!” Nabooru scoffed, folding her arms. “Listen up! We don't have much time. Ganondorf has somehow managed to place evil demons in our temples and since you didn't kill him, he can manipulate time!!”

“But how is that possible?” Link asked, “He's in a gap between dimensions. He couldn't possibly-- “

“Listen to me!” Nabooru yelled, “Since he is there, natural time laws don't apply to him! Some how he's figured out a way to fu-- er... 'mess' with time." Nabooru placed a thumb to her chin and whispered to herself, "Even with a fragment of the Triforce... where would he get that type of power..?"

“She's right I'm afraid.” Raruu sighed. “And we can't all go off through out time to destroy these demons.”

“Why would you have to do that?” Link asked. Zelda shoved him roughly and said,

“Ganondorf has placed them in temples but in different time periods Link. The Demon in the Mountain temple is there only in pre-Hylian times!” Ruto interrupted, “My temple has been invaded also. But 100 years into the past.”

“Well my temple is being defiled now!” Nabooru shouted, “even as our 'hero' is sleeping, my temple guards are being slaughtered by whatever he has put inside of there!”

“I suppose this can't be all bad.” Zelda mumbled under her breath.

“My temple will be hit worst of the five." Impa said, almost boredly, "And will happen in the next five years.”

“I can't determine when my temple will be attacked,” Saria sighed, “and none of us know anything about Raruu and his temple.”

“Well, how can you stop all of those things?”

“We don't know Link!” Zelda scolded, “That's what we've been trying to discuss for the past three hours! All of these events are happening at once, wearing down each spiritual barrier!”

“But they're in different times.” Link said.

“Time isn't just one continuous line Link.” Raruu stated, “It is like a tapestry each year, week, hour second has a thread. We pass from thread to thread and pay it no heed. The sages here can see those threads and they're wearing thinner with each passing second of Ganondorfs evil.”

“Well, I managed to go back and forth in time using the Sword, can it help now?” Link asked.

Zelda shook her head, “no, I'm afraid. The Master Sword only allows you to move forward, then back into your original form, not the other way around.”

“Huh?”

“You can go forward, not back.” Zelda explained.

“Oh.”

“You two sleep on it, we've been in counseling for hours and I know you“re tired.” Raruu said. “Until we speak again, may Din, Nayru, and Farore watch over you.”

Their telepathic link was broken and instantly, the chilling blue candles dimmed then extinguished, and the normal torches burned brightly. The skylight brightened and a calm star lit sky could be seen above them.

“I wonder...” Zelda mused.

“Yes Princess?” Link asked, helping Zelda from her seat.

“Mmm? Nothing...” Zelda lied. If 'every' sage had his or her temple attacked, what would happen to hers. She was a sage as well but she had no temple to speak of. The Temple of time was 'considered' neutral ground, though she was the only sage to ever use its power. Perhaps all of Hyrule could be in danger. She just didn't know.

“Alright. Walk me to my room Link and stand guard at my door until morning.”

“Yes princess.” For nearly four years, she'd given him this command. Was it really necessary to repeat herself? He opened the halls doors for her and bowed as she passed by.

The night was oddly cool, and the wind carried a suspicious feeling of dread. “Odd.” Link said after “while. “It shouldn't be so cool on a summer's eve.”

Zelda stopped and looked “round to, but dismissed Links' behavior as paranoia. “Link? Let's go! I'm tired and I want to sleep! Come.”

“But--” Link stopped, “yes princess.”

The further they walked, to Link, the cooler it seemed to get, until finally he was shivering. “Z-Zelda. Do you f-feel it? Something isn't right.”

Zelda sighed but Link drew his sword and kept it in his hands as he walked on. Why was it so cold out tonight?

Link looked around, something had to be the cause of this unnatural chill. Nothing to his left, the same to his right, what was this--

“Link! Look up!! The sky!!” Zelda shrieked.

Link looked up and gasped. The sky itself had seemed to open. This tear in the night sky formed a large hole, from which no light could be seen.

“Inside princess!!” Link yelled. He scooped her into his arms and began to run down the dirt path that lead to the castle. But the winds soon over powered him, and they both fell into a heap on the grass.

“Princess!!” Link yelled, trying to grab hold to anything on the ground, and in the process dropping the Master Sword to the ground. “I'm being taken! Protect the sword!”

Link's body was slowly lifted into the air, closer and closer towards the black hole in the sky. “No!!”

“Link!!”

And in an instant, he was gone. The sky was peaceful again, and the only sign Link had been with Zelda before, was the lone sword she held to her breast.
