Chapter Fourteen

The Cursed vs. the Student Counsel

As Cesco attempts the ninth slash on his opponent, the werewolf Kanna, is able to take hold of the weapon, flipping him onto his back. Shortly after he lands on his back she takes her foot and stomps his throat with it. Cesco eyes bulge in pain, as he makes a breathless grunting noise.

"I told you" she continued "you're not winning." her voice slightly playful, though this is much to the dismay of her opponent.

Cesco manages to break away; his throat was still agonizing after the last blow as he instinctively grabs the inflicted area. He also gave a rather throaty cough, spitting up a bit during the act. "Damn" was the first word that came to mind as he said it.

"So" she began, lying with her chest on the ground, kicking her feet and staring at Cesco. "Do you want to give up yet?"

"Shut up!" Cesco snarls, swinging his sword at his opponent with no avail. The attack misses Kanna, hitting the air as Kanna moves to another position; one where she continued the same acts. She would have successfully accomplished her mission if that mission was to annoy Cesco to no end.

"Soooo" Kanna begins "when well you start taking this fight seriously?"

"Grrr. Damn you!" Cesco shouts, beginning another barrage of constants slashes with the two slashing and evading respectively for about fifteen seconds before Kanna ducks and slugs him right in the stomach with him spitting a small about of blood in the process.

"Well that was a good warm up, but now it's time to get serious. Don't you think so?" says Kanna, keeping her jokative tone through the entirety of the sentence while dashing back a few feet.

"So what is your relationship to the Cursed?" asks Michie to Amaya

"W- What do you mean?" shouts the flustered Amaya as she starts to look franticly around the room. "I don't know what you are talking about!" her face a bright shade of red.

This makes Michie chuckle to herself. "Hehehe. Whatever you say" she says sarcastically.

Amaya noticed the hint of sarcasm, or rather the excessive amount used in the sentence. In accordance she responds by bringing her weapon to hand and shouting "Be quite!" while shooting an electrical projectile towards her opponent.

"Oh" Michie begins, whom of which was able to nullify the attack by having one of her bats that are under her control absorb the attack. She then began in a jokative tone "So you do have feelings. What's the word for that? Someone who acts coldly towards there lover? A Tsundere?"

"Shut up!" exclaims Amaya, and then she realized the likes of whom she was up against. "A Vampire?"

"Why yes; that is correct" states Michie, showing off her gleaming, sharpened teeth.

The demon king Akuto Sai, was standing in the presence of the President of the student council, Lily.

"So what are you waiting for?" questioned the President, speaking to Akuto. "Are you not strong enough to protect your friends Demon king?"

"Shut up" Akuto whispered under his breath.

"That was that?" Lily asked, knowing what he had said.

"I SAID SHUT UP!" After the declaration, Akuto started rapidly and with vigor firing projectiles, which caused the president to jump into the air. The now airborne Lily than delivered a debilitating punch to Akuto, knocking him a few meters back.

"Geez" responded the President "Could not even lay a scratch on me. Pathetic; simply pathetic. Are you sure that you are really the demon king?"

"I never wanted to be him." Akuto told the president. "I am not the demon king. All I want to do is help others; not destroy them. Please, can't we end this?"

"I am sorry, but my mind is made up. Now, fight back or die!"

"So that explains it. You're a vampire" Amaya began, seeing the glimmering teeth of her opponent. Vampires are a rather powerful race of humans found within the nation of Britannia, and show their prowess through their powerful spells and strength.

"Now don't you see? This is all hopeless. Give it up, weakling." Michie said with superbia apparent within her voice.

"I can't just give up. After all, I am not about to lose to a punk like yourself." Amaya said, before pointing her sword at her opponent, and attempting to stab her with such as if a raptor assault in fencing. The opponent is able to stop her blade using a rather powerful ward spell, preventing the blade and bouncing it back as if the ward was made of rubber.

"Tch. Take this!" Amaya then fired an energy projectile at her opponent, which she did the same. This time, the energy projectile was sent right towards Amaya. She gets hit, and instantly screams in pain.

She falls to her knees due to the reversal done by Michie's ward, and finds it hard to move.

"I think we have a winner" Michie says, beginning to walk away. "Now, if you don't mind me, I have to go help my team. You are welcome to sit right there" Michie says, shouting behind her.

"I… can't… lose" Amaya says before falling to the floor from her 'on knees' position.

"I'll have the med-squad come looking for you later. After all, don't want anything bad to happen to you. Now, let me go help out Kanna, though she probably is done already"

Cesco began to charge at Kanna once more. This strategy of his had not worked in the past, so as such Kanna was able to dodge the blows with ease. Stepping to the opposite side of the swing and moving backwards to avoid the blade, Kanna presumed she had the fight in the bag. That was until she had bumped into a solid structure. Due to parrying backwards, Kanna had hit a wall, and due to this she was unable to dodge the method she had shown to be orthodox for herself.

With a swing of his [wooden] sword, Cesco hit the cornered opponent. The attack was powerful enough to cause massive pain to Kanna, however not enough to completely defeat the wolfgirl. Only shortly after the swing had made contact with Kanna, she used a powerful strait-kick to force Cesco away from her location; approximately 10 meters away.

"First hit on you, eh?" Cesco chuckled, hitting his opponent with the first attack.

"Luck" she blatantly says, having a slight dribble of blood leaking from her mouth. Kanna felt that the only reason the attack was able to hit was due to her running, literally, into a wall. "Besides, one attack is not going to do anything against me"

"One attack can go a long way" Cesco mused, getting back into a fighting stance. "I must say however you have been a challenging opponent, but you have lost"

"How so?" The wolfgirl questioned, looking slightly irritated, though still slightly in pain from the attack dealt by Cesco.

Cesco just flashed a smile, and began to charge at his opponent.

"That is not any different from before. I thought he had something planned" Kanna thought, ready to parry Cesco's swings. She then realized that she was still against the wall. In accordance to this, Kanna was struck again by Cesco; a powerful, yet quick slash from his [wooden] sword led to Kanna's pain, and a spray of blood to be ejected from her mouth. She pushes Cesco away from her location, and as such Cesco is flung a few meters backwards.

"I need to make sure that that doesn't happen again. I cannot be in a corner" Kanna thought, running towards a side of Cesco to ensure she would no longer be pressed against a wall.

"Looks like your plan failed" Kanna spoke. "I will not fall for that one again!"

"Good. Maybe then you can defeat me!" Cesco began his assault once more, with Kanna evading most of his blows. It was then that she felt the pain from one of Cesco's earlier attacks, and in accordance failed to dodge a stab from Cesco. As such, she was once again met with pain.

"Damn…" said Kanna, shaking in anger. "How could you be beating me?"

"It's it obvious. After your first hit, you could not move as fast as you could before due to the pain of the injury. Using that, I was able to out maneuver you, and now you are in such a state where you cannot dodge my attacks. Face it, you lost." Cesco said, taking his sword up once more.

"You asked for it!" Akuto shouts, firing another projectile at his opponent.

The president was easily able to dodge such, and as such Akuto's attack did little more than nothing. After all, the president was a rather powerful person, hence her cadency.

"Yawn. When are you going to truly use your powers?" The president asks, rather unamused at what she perceived to be weakness within the demon king. "When are you going to go all out? I mean, this is kinda boring considering"

"Shut up you!" Akuto shouted, charging at the president. He receives a rather powerful punch to his chest due to her elastic-like arms.

"Damn you!" he gasps out, continuing his charge as if the attack did not faze him. He got close enough to Lily, and when he did such, he attempted a punch at the girl's stomach; the one that had just caused much pain to both Akuto and his friends.

There was an explosion, and the two were pushed back. Akuto began to breathe heavily, and as the smoke cleared away, one could see the president. Akuto could make out from the smoke slight tatters in uniform, and the bruising which seemed to show on her body.

"That was impressive. Not many people could land a hit on the president that direct. You show potential" She said in a condescending tone.

That was until she was contacted by Kanna. "It looks like I shall be cutting this meeting short." Mily uttered out quickly, changing her mood to one of slight concern. As she stated such, she began to move away from Akuto and towards the area where Kanna and Michie left to pursue Cesco and Amaya. "Come Arnoul" as she said this, the giant Liridan mech began to follow the president.

"Where are you going?" shouted Akuto in his annoyance. After all, this girl had just fought Akuto and his friends, and just seemed to leave without much trace.

"Damn you!" Kanna shouted. She had been bested by this man and more than once as well. It seemed that she would lose the fight if things were to continue as they stood. However, Kanna would not just give up that easily. She had her mission, and she was going to see it through. "I didn't want to have to use this, but you seem to give me no cho-"

Kanna was not able to finish her sentence due to a nearby explosion derailing her train of thought. Running from such was both Koa and Albert, leaving the trail of fire behind them, and making haste while doing so. Cesco took just a small gander and knew who these people were.

"Is that… Koa and Albert?" He asked himself in a confused tone, feeling it strange that they were no longer in the basement. "They must of found a way out, but why are they run-"

Cesco had figured out the cause for their hasty retreat as his eyes glanced over to the explosion. Two men, whom of which were dressed in strange clothing that Cesco did not seem to recognize. They seemed like real professional soldier due to the aura felt by them, though they did seem a bit too young; slightly older than Cesco, if that.

"Get back here!" one of the two men shouted, as he took his revolver and shot it towards Albert, the bullet barely missing its mark. "You can't run forever!"

Kanna looked at the two with fright. She knew who they where, but seemed confused at their presence. "What are they doing here?"

"You know these people?" Cesco asked to the person who had just but only recently been his opponent.

"I have to tell the president" Kanna said, before taking out a phone-like item which most students carry upon their person.

"What is going one here!" Michie asks Kanna, arriving from her fight with Amaya. "I heard the explosion, and came as fast as I could." Michie then notices Cesco, whom of which was not defeated by Kanna yet. "And what are you doing? You should be on the floor by now."

Cesco did not retort. He just began to run towards the two attacking his friends, wishing to save them from harm's way. "Albert!" He shouted, who of which saw his friend and began to run towards him, signaling Koa to jeer towards Cesco's position. The two stop at Cesco, though a round from one of the two chasing them.

"Y'all though you could run from me?" The man said, taking his weapon and pointing it towards Cesco and his group, whom of which took weapons in their defense against the man. The man grinned at their actions, and chuckled slightly to go along with it. "Do ya really think y'all could best me? I am one of the Landon brothers!"

"That is enough, brother" Said the other brother, approaching his brother from behind and wading his out of his way. "They are not worth your time. Do you want to finish the mission or not?"

"Yes brother" Responded the brother with the guns, though not sounding too happy about such.

"Now that we have what we need, we should make our way out of here. Those thugs made great distractions for thi-"

"So you are here now aren't you, Landon?" Lily asked, though more as if rhetoric than else. "And you haven't changed, though I am going to have to ask you to hand over what you have stolen." Behind her was Akuto, whom of which followed the president for answers. After all, he had been ill-informed during this fiasco.

"So, have you come to fight me? I will gladly fight. I have a score to settle after all with you."

"If it is a fight you want, than it is a fight you shall get" Lily barked right back, getting prepared to battle this person she referred to as 'Landon'.

"Get out of their Landon" said a female voice; one sounding about in her late 20 in a rather seductive sounding speech pattern. Such the voice appeared to have come from the man's electronical-looking wristband.

"Tch. Looks like I will have to cut this mission short. Consider yourself lucky kid" Landon states, before signaling him and his brother to leave. His brother takes his gun and shoots towards the floor, which creates a blanket of smoke. Cesco begins to cough and shield his eyes from the smoke just as the rest of those exposed to the smoke do. A rather powerful wind current than displace the air and Cesco sees through the smoke the two escape aboard a helicopter flying away from the area. "Next time you won't be so lucky" Landon says to himself, looking towards the ever growing smaller school as the helicopter retreats.

"They got away" Lily says, starting to walk away from the area. "Looks like we are going to have to cut our test short. Next time I won't go that easy Akuto. Come Kanna, Michie" the two followed after the saying of their names, and began to follow the president back to the student council room.

Just as Lily walks away, an announcement is heard through the loudspeakers of the school. "Attention students. This is nurse Tori speaking. The test is officially over. It appears we have a tie between two groups; a first time this has happened in this school's history."

"I assume we are the ones who tied" Cesco says to Akuto, a bit out of breath from his battle with Kanna.

"I guess so" Akuto said, sounding relieved that it was over. After all, this test had taken such a strain on him.

"I wish I got to fight you, but I guess that will be for another time." Cesco added, to which Akuto deadpanned "Is that really all you are thinking about right now."

Cesco then fell to the floor due to the fatigue of the day, and Akuto fell right beside him. After all, this had to have been one of the most exhausting days in their lives. "We did well though" Cesco told Akuto, whom of which nods in agreement.

"But I can't help but wonder why the student council went after us." Akuto asked, concerned at the act. "And what did she mean by the test being cut short?"

"Could it have been this test? As in the one we just took?" Cesco asked

"I don't think so" Akuto responded. 'Could this have just been to test the demon king's power? And why was Cesco brought into this?'

"Akuto~!" shouted Kenna, jumping onto Akuto and clinging to him. "Kenna was worried sick about you"

"Get off of me!" Akuto shouted right back, attempting to remove Kenna from his body, however such proved difficult. He succeeded after a short time though. Standing over him was the rest of his team Junko and Fujiko.

"Are you alright, Akuto?" Asked Fujiko, seeing Akuto hurt. Junko, though concerned set her emotions aside and said "You shouldn't do something so reckless, idiot." In a rather cold manner of speech.

Albert assists Cesco up, and he meets with the rest of his team. Or rather, the teammates that was closest to him. He noticed that a single member was not with him. "Where is Amaya?" He asked his group.

The two looked a bit grim and Koa said "She was taken into the nurse. She is alright, though she is just resting." Those where the exact words which Michie had told the two before she walked away with the president. Although she was in the infirmary, Cesco was glad she was alright.

Cesco later found himself in his room, attempting to go to sleep, though it seems that his restlessness could not be quenched by his constant tossing and turning in his bed. Albert, however was sleeping perfectly.

"I just hope she is alright" Cesco told himself, turning to his sides and closing his eyes.
