A paddle in your hand,

I see now your plan,

"Mr. Frodo!" I demand.

You didn't turn around,

"No Sam." You said.

So I waded slowly in,

Till water was over my head,

I looked up to the light,

As it slowly slipped away,

Till a shadow blocked the light,

And I cringed in dismay.

Then your hand took mine,

And with one final grasp,

I was pulled into the boat,

With a heave and a gasp.

"Sam, Sam, Why?"

You asked through your tears,

The ones I'd see plenty,

Through the fallowing years.
