I'm about to lose my mind
You've been gone for so long
I'm running out of time
I need a doctor

To bring me back to life...

I was dying. I knew it. My heartbeat was so slow and weak that I almost
couldn't tell it was there. Maybe it wasn't there...maybe I was gone already.
At times I couldn't tell. I was still breathing, though that too was
painfully slow. My eyes were closed, but I didn't have the strength to open
them. It didn't matter anyway; this painful world was not where I existed. I
was with my baby. The baby that had been lost, so lost I didn't even give him
a name.

What kind of mother does that make me? Not even being able to give my child a
name?'

Muffled screams of agony came through from the ceiling above me, joined with the sounds of shuffled footsteps, murmurs...

Then i felt it, the tearing. Something digging into my neck, rending the flesh. I stilled in shock, as confusion and terror overwhelmed me, dragging me down.
Then pain. Pain which had only begun to spread outward through my body, taking hold of me, claiming my muscles as their own.

My mouth opened in a silent scream, my back arching off the bed slightly.
Throwing myself off the cliff hadn't been this bad, not nearly this bad. There was a little self doubt when I was falling and when I hit the bottom there was a brief slam of pain, but not like this. Not the burning inferno I felt blazing through my veins.

The pain was everywhere, encircling me, drawing me closer to its clutches.

I'm about to lose my mind...
