The Definition of "I love You

A/N: I would like to repeat two things: This is fiction and NCIS does not belong to me!

. . .

When Ray had left for his 'top-secret' mission, this past May, I was devastated. He had left me with an empty ring box. It apparently meant he would eventually come back and we would marry. For the next few weeks after he left, at work I was apparently giddy and flushed, according to Tony.

"Have we been kissing behind the stairwell, Zee-Vah?" he askes as he stares me down of these days.

"We?" I ask, kind of surprised.

"We, as in you guys, as in you and CI-Ray," he says like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"No, we have not been 'kissing behind the stairwell,' but if we HAD, it would have been none of YOUR business," I say, annoyed with my partner.

"What has gotten into you?" He asks.

"You did!" I exclaim, pushing myself away from myself and getting up.

"No, you were mad when you walked in this morning," he says before he realized I was walking away. "Wait, where are you going?"

"Bathroom," I say as I turn the corner. I push on the door to the bathroom and walk to the sink. I began to attempt to tame my wild curs when Tony walks in and locks the door.

"Somethin's up," he says simply. "I want to know."

"Nothing is 'up,' Tony," I say, once again annoyed.

"Sure there is, you got mad when I mentioned CI-Ray," Tony countered, looking hard into my eyes.

"Nothing is wrong!" I insist.

"Last time you said nothing was wrong, you started to sleep with some random guy from a bar!" he exclaims, recalling what occurred with Michael all those years ago. He wasn't talking about Rivkin but the other one.

"And that bothers you why?" I snap, not realizing how much infliction was in my voice.

"You deserve better, Ziva," he responds with a hurt look. "Don't you think so?"

I was furious, "What do I deserve then, Tony? I mean you have all these 'one-night-stands' and I can't have anybody. I don't think that is fair. It makes no sense! Explain yourself, please!"

"Never mind," he says softly. He then turns and walks out of the door after he unlocks it.

'Great' I think to myself. I had just made the one person who would understand, mad at me, or at least upset Tony was a very hard man to make mad, but very east to upset. I had not even had a good reason to burst out at him. He had just been hinting…at what, though? I was over-reacting, and thinking too hard about this. I take a deep breath and head to the bull pen.

. . .

A/N: How was it? Any good? Please Review and I might post another chapter! Thank you!
