Chapter 6
Disclaimer: I don't own the Vampire Diaries. I'm just borrowing. If I did own it, Damon and Elena would be together now.
Note: Ugh, sorry for the delay, guys, but my other writings needed my attention, as well as stuff in my real life. But, since I'm here now, I might as well update "Love on the Force." I appreciate all the reviews you've given me so far. You guys are the best! When we last left everyone, Elena fills Damon in on what she did in the interrogation room, and then they have a quickie in the hospital bed. No spoilers, except the action takes place several days later.
Damon & Elena's Apartment – 3 Days Later...
"Here's another one."
Rebekah handed Elena yet another bridal magazine. Wedding plans had officially begun now that Damon was out of the hospital, and that meant finding the ideal dress. Elena had found a few that she liked, but it was going to be hard to pick the one she really wanted.
"Thanks, Rebekah," she said. "I don't know what I would've done without you."
"Don't mention it," the other woman replied. "It's been insane down at the office and I was lucky that Nik even agreed to give me some time off." She gently rubbed her belly. "Oh, and I told him about the baby."
"You did?" said Elena. "How did he respond to it?"
"Well, at first, he wondered just what the hell took me so long to tell him, but then, he was ecstatic," said Rebekah. "I tell you, Elena, I could never quite figure that man out, no matter how long I've known him." She cleared her throat. "How's Damon?"
"A little stronger every day," said Elena. "And sexy as ever." She smiled. "After you left, we had a little fun in his bed."
Rebekah's eyes went wide. "You didn't!"
Elena nodded. "We did, and you know what, it felt really good. I didn't give a shit if we were in a public place. I just wanted to relieve my stress and be in the arms of the man I love."
"Elena, you are a bad girl, aren't you?" said Rebekah. "Then again, I suppose that's just the way Damon likes you, given his reputation."
"And what reputation would that be?"
Damon's voice startled the women as he walked into the kitchen. He saw the bridal magazines on the table and knew what was going on: Elena was trying to find the perfect dress. Why would she want to do that when she was already perfect in his eyes?
"The reputation that you have for being a bad boy," said Elena. "And, from the way things have been between us after we started dating, I'd say that reputation hasn't changed, since you're a really bad boy in bed."
Damon raised an eyebrow. "You told her what happened in the hospital, didn't you?"
Elena was about to reply when Klaus walked in, a pile of letters in his hand. He had taken the day off to help with the wedding preparations. When he came in, Rebekah noticed that he looked a little distressed, especially by one of the letters in the pile.
"Nik, what is it?"
Klaus handed his sister the envelope containing the letter in question. "You wouldn't believe what I found in the mail. It's from that Strauss woman. She's not playing around, she's determined to make sure that her client gets away with killing his wife. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that she has the hots for him."
"That's ridiculous," said Rebekah. "That man is a misogynistic bastard. If she thinks that's sexy, she's further off her rocker than I thought." She carefully opened the envelope. "That sneaky little cunt!"
Elena took the envelope from Rebekah. "Let me see." She snarled at the contents. "I can't believe this! She's issued me a summons! I have to appear in court and explain why I did what I did? This is bullshit!"
"Oh, now she's gone too far," said Damon. "How could she possibly think Elena was in the wrong here? She was doing her job, for crying out loud. This is a direct insult to all police officers, including myself, and I wasn't there."
Elena looked at Klaus. "Isn't there something you can do about this? I mean, you must hate this Strauss bitch as much as Damon and I do."
"Oh, I more than hate her, I want her to burn in the pits of hell of the rest of eternity," said Klaus. "I'll even send her there myself!" He saw Rebekah looking at him as well. "Oh, don't give me that look, you want to see that happen."
"Yes, but I don't want you to be sent to jail because you murdered someone out of revenge," said Rebekah. "Nik, how about instead of killing her, how about we contest this? We both know Elena did nothing wrong. All she did was what any other cop would do, and that is no reason to make her the bad guy when the real bad guy is the man she was interrogating."
"She's right, you know," said Damon. "Captain Forbes can even testify on Elena's behalf. She was there when the whole thing went down."
Elena smiled at this, loving Damon all the more for his suggestion. It made her look forward to marrying him even more.
