SPOILERS! THIS IS UPDATED TO THE LATEST MANGA CHAPTER! DON'T READ IF YOU'RE AFRAID YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND ((because I don't explain crap)) OR IF YOU BELIEVE IT WILL RUIN THE STORY EXPEIRENCE FOR YOU.

Chapter 10

It wasn't long before I was up and running again. I didn't like hospitals at all either. They were crazy boring and really, really white. I walked out of the hospital. Apparently Retsu hadn't told anyone that I'd be released from captivity today. I skipped along through the Soul Society. I was happy to have some kind of freedom. Before I even realized what was going on, I found myself standing before Renji's office. I stared at the door for the longest time.

"So, are you going in or not?" a voice asked me. I turned around and found myself staring straight at the person who I thought was within the office... I stared at him with my jaw dropped slightly.

"Hello dere," I tried, mustering up as much innocence as I could. Renji shook his head slightly.

"Why don't you just go in?" he asked. I blushed, feeling incredibly stupid.

"O... okay," I replied, confused as to why I was so flustered around him all of a sudden. Renji was my best friend for crying out loud! I shouldn't be so awkward. I marched into the office, greeted by the usual piled high with papers desk.

"Well, you haven't gotten much done today," I commented. I heard him sigh.

"This is from yesterday," he replied. My eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't done much work at all while I was in the hospital? But... I couldn't be worrying him that much! I whirled around on him, staring at him with big eyes.

"Are you okay, Renji?" I asked. He stared at me in disbelief.

"I'm fine," he sighed before beginning on his endless stack of papers. I sat in the seat of his office that I often occupied beside his desk. I glanced over the papers he was working on and saw the word "Quincy" written upon it.

"Renji...? What's a Quincy?" I asked. He seemed to jump in his seat. He turned and looked over at me.

"It's nothing you need to worry about right now," he replied. I raised a single eyebrow, but he had already looked away. What were these Quinsies? They really seemed to have Renji on edge. I decided to ignore it for a while, and placed my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes and let out a soft sigh. I was hoping that we could have a few weeks of peace within the Soul Society. I wanted to spend some time with Renji and maybe visit Karakura town. I wondered if Orihime knew I was okay. Then I face palmed, remembering that Ichigo was a substitute shinigami. She definitely knew.

I couldn't wait to go get ice cream with Renji again. I loved that cold treat. I lifted my head off of his shoulder and padded out of the office to his room. I yawned, feeling like having a nap.

"All captains and vices report for a captain's meeting!" the intercom called as I closed my eyes, curling up on Renji's bed. I felt like having a nice, little cat nap.

Renji sat outside of the captain's meeting with all of the other vice-captains. Everyone seemed on edge, but Renji sat in a chair calmly as they all began to discuss things. Rukia snapped at Renji because she couldn't calm down. New information about the quinsies was shared in that moment. Suddenly, several quinsies appeared within the Soul Society's barrier.

"They're within the barrier!" a shinigami cried. The vice-captains all prepared to fight. Remji stared in horror as an arrow killed a vice captain in one hit. Then he remembered.

"Echo!" he cried, but he couldn't make himself move. He was still going through shock.

"Kill them all," a quincy said, looking down at all of the shinigami. Renji felt his stomach flip. He couldn't run to Echo... maybe it was better they didn't know she was within the building. A quincy began to knock an arrow, and the buildings and even some of the shinigami were being absorbed by the quincy's arrow. Renji's stomach dropped. He had to protect Echo.

I awoke to the sounds of people screaming. That wasn't right... was it?

Sadly... I won't be able to update until the manga has more chappies uploaded to the website I'm reading it on. Anyways, the story line is becoming incredibly intense. I probably branched a bit off of the main story line, but YEAH.
