Summary: slightly AU. Clark is still in college and Brainiac is working with Lex. During Spring Break, Lois and Chloe witness a crash on the outskirts of Smallville. They rescue a victim of the crash and (not sure do with him) take him to the Kent farm. But who is this stranger, why are Brainiac and Lex so desperate to get their hands on him, and even more confusing, why is h trying to avoid Clark.

Prologue: The crash

The crash had shaken him up far more than it should have. He was dizzy and slightly disoriented, and there was the throbbing pain in his right hand. He looked down at the hand in question. And saw that the veins in the hand had turned black.

"The virus is spreading more rapidly than I had anticipated." He thought, "I had better work fast."

He tried to stand up too quickly and get his bearings and mentally berated himself as the pain in his side made it difficult to stand up straight. But he knew he couldn't stay here…wherever here was. He saw that he was in the middle of some kind of field. He moved in a northern direction until he reached a road. That's when he saw a road sign. He groaned, realized how just how much trouble he was in.
