I recently purchased the 2009 Wonder Woman movie. IT WAS FRIGGIN EPIC! I loved it. I haven't a thing against Greeks…its Roman's I can't stand. Anyway I have always been a big Amazon, Wonder Woman, and girls defending themselves fan so this movie just an obvious choice for me to love. I was watching it and when Diana mentioned how "brainwashed" women were in the "men's world" I was sitting there thinking "Hell all the guys I know EXPECT me to be tough as they are."
BAM! Idea, so here is the idea I was given.
Steve came home one evening to a battered Diana fixing herself up on the kitchen counter, her tiara on the table while she held a mirror in one hand trying to apply rubbing alcohol to the scrape on her forehead. Her cerulean eyes were crossed in concentration as she applied her bandage.
"Need a hand with that, Angel?" he asked.
"I've got it," she said. Steve knew to let it go at that and give Diana her liberties. He shrugged and flopped down on the couch watching her finish her patching up. As fast as she healed she would probably remove them in an hour's time and there wouldn't even be a scar.
"So…you're home early," Diana said perching on the edge of the love seat.
"Yeah. I wanted to talk to you about that. I got a new assignment further south than here," he said.
"Okay."
"It's in Huntsville, Alabama at the NASA center, I am sure they have some rude criminals there that could use some manners," he grinned at her.
"I am sure I could find something to do," she said. "What is the date of our departure?" she asked.
"My departure is a week from today. You will have to take your jet as the Government really doesn't know what to think about you going. They can't stop you of course but they aren't going to fund it," Steve explained.
"That's fine," she agreed, mostly because she was grateful they treated her more as an equal than many of the men. Just what every Amazonian wanted. "Then we shall prepare for departure," Diana said, standing. Steve grabbed her wrist.
"Maybe later, Angel," he said, kissing her his hands running over her waist. "You're still wearing your Amazon armor aren't you?"
"Of course," she replied pulling back, "We really do need to start preparing for our trip." Steve sighed and agreed.

The next week Diana said good-bye to Steve at the airport with a smile, before departing to her own waiting jet. With a strong leap she was in the cockpit and piloting her jet behind Steve's and they were off to Huntsville. The flight was made short as the wind was in their favor and before long they had landed in the bustling city of Birmingham Alabama. They met up at the airport and rented a car to get them to Huntsville. After a rather tedious hour and a half drive they made it to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center and the NASA headquarters in Alabama.
"Oh! Hey! Look, Angel, they got a rodeo in town this weekend," Steve said pointing to a billboard of a cowboy on a bronc.
"A rodeo?"
"Yeah cowboys and cowgirls celebrating a long tradition of attempting to best each other in dangerous sports involving livestock…kinda like that Amazon contest you guys had but with horses and cows involved," he explained as best he could.
"I am intrigued," Diana said, getting out of the car. One of the scientists, whom had overheard the conversation, stepped in.
"Some of the cowboys and cowgirls arrived early," she explained. "One of 'em is Miss Lidia MacIntosh. She is in the running for All Around Title, I hear." Then seeing Diana's confused expression, "she competes in more than one event."
"Oh. Steve, I am going to meet this Lidia. I'll meet you back at the hotel," Diana said, always one to meet a strong woman in this "man's world"
"Sure but you don't even know the way," he said.
"We could get someone to drive you, Ma'am," the lady said.
"Yeah that's a good idea," Steve said reviving a glare from Diana. "I am just saying that as someone who doesn't know the area," he raised his hands in defense. She agreed under those pretenses and she and her driver were soon on their way to the Huntsville Agribition Center.
Twenty-five miles and thirty minutes later they pulled up at the agribition center to total chaos. Cowboys mounted with ropes in hand chased after a bull with a lasso already around his horns. Diana got out of the car much to the Drivers protest and had her own unbreakable lasso out and ready. Suddenly a blonde woman rode by leaned far over in her saddle.
"MindifIborrowthisthanks!" she shouted forming a loop as she dashed off. Diana stared in awe as she swung the loop and roped the bull around his horns dallying off to the saddle horn and backing her horse up.
"What you waiting for boys? An invite! GET 'IM!" The other cowboys tossed their lassos and drug the bull into submission.
"You got somethin' of mine you ornery cuss," she muttered, leading the entourage back to the stables behind the center. Diana followed somewhat in awe, as the cowgirl led her fellow cowfolk and the enraged bull back.
When they finally got him back in the barn the cowboys dispersed to unsaddle their mounts and the girl followed them to the stalls.
"Lidia MacIntosh?" Diana spoke up.
"Yes'm?" she said turning. "Oh! You're the lady I borrowed the rope from. Here ya go miss. Dandy of a lasso didn't even threaten to snap!" Lidia tossed her braid over her shoulder and smiled as Diana looked over her horse.
"Ya like her?" Lidia asked in a thick cracking southern drawl.
"She is beautiful. And strong, too."
"Best mare I have ever owned. Her name is Sophia," she said patting her sorrel neck.
"She reminds me of my horses back home. Strong, loyal, feisty, and the best friend a girl could have," Diana said.
"I hear ya there. I didn't catch your name," Lidia said, loosening the girth around her horse's stomach. With a heave she put her saddle on the saddle rack just outside the stall and took off the mares bridle so she could munch at the hay in the hay bag.
"Diana."
Lidia turned and looked at Diana, "Pretty name. Greek?"
"Yes," she said smiling at the cowgirl, "I am from a…city where women were counted as equals of the men. Always."
"Nice, I always wanted to be like that. That's why I am so much stronger than most cowgirls. Cowboys and cowgirls are a dying breed. At least the true ones are. We used to be a proud nation. We used to take on Indian Warriors, wild animals, and smart ass train engineers. Now we just perform for audiences who hope the animal wins and we have to be carried out on stretchers," she explained.
Diana watched as she glared and the anger built in her. The wonder woman placed her hand on Lidia's shoulder.
"But you never gave up."
"And now I'm one of the best," she said, "with hard work and determination you can accomplish anything. Raw talent alone isn't enough," Lidia said looking up. "My father used to tell me that whenever I was training."
"He was very wise," Diana said, rubbing Sophia's nose.
"Yeah…" she said. Diana smiled and placed a re-assuring hand on the girl's shoulder. Lidia smiled. "Well whenever you wanna come visit your welcome to," Lidia said. Dina nodded her thanks and returned to her car to return home.
