War isn't about whether you think you'll win or lose. It's about dying for something you believe is worth dying for. –From the show, True Blood on HBO.

A/N: So I read The Mortal Instrument first book and I decided to do something sort of like it sort of not but using my two favorite characters instead… And just a little heads up. After this, I may want to do some True Blood fanfiction. I love Twilight but you know, I love True Blood too… especially Eric. :D That is all. Lol.

I spun in a little circle and felt Jasper at my waist. He did that sometimes. He liked to disappear and reappear between Alice and me. We didn't mind. He smelled a little like blood and death and it made my stomach lurch, just a little. Sure, we were demons, but that didn't require we drink blood. It was an option, something that made us stronger, not something we needed to survive. I spun in a small circle, pulling Alice flush against me. She was my baby sister in a way. We only had each other. We were both orphaned, raised by Jasper, who was 80 going on 18. He liked to switch bodies every ten years, or so he'd told us. Alice and I were on our first cycle, our first life. I liked being a year older than her though. I learned faster. I was stronger. She looked up to me.

The strobe lights seemed to be going faster than before. The smoke lessened. I could feel all of our sweat we were so close together. I was getting dizzy, the good kind of dizzy where the world was yours for the taking and nothing seemed to matter. I could hear Jasper yelling something but I just kept spinning. He was between me and Alice now, his back facing me, his hands clasped at her waist. My tight black dress was clinging to me a little. When I felt hands pulling me in, I knew it wasn't Jasper this time. I could sense the change. It was Edward, my best friend, my big brother. I leaned back in to him and we moved together. We didn't need words. We just connected together in a way that didn't need to be belittled by being verbalized.

My eyes flew open and Edward and I paused at the same time. The entire aura of the room had changed. There were demon hunters here. I slid through the cloud with ease and when I made it to the corner by the exit Jasper and Alice were already there.

"How many of them are there?" Jasper asked.

I closed my eyes and opened them. I knew they were a bright red. I looked in to the crowd. All the humans were green. I saw some demons who reflected blue and three red globs in the crowd.

"Three," I let my eyes dim.

We all had powers. I could sense auras and blow things to pieces with a flip of my wrist. Alice was a shape shifter. Edward had a range of powers that even I didn't know all about and Jasper, well, he was known for erasing minds and his disappearing act.

"Let's get out of here. We split up and meet back home," Jasper decided.

I nodded and Alice turned in to a little orange cat. Jasper vanished in front of me and the door open. Alice bound out and the door pushed shut behind her. I spun around looking for Edward. Where the hell had he went? I couldn't worry about that now. I pushed the door open and slipped out. The club was only two stories, an easy jump. I jumped on to the roof. I could still make out Alice. If I could see her, I knew they could… if they were looking that is.

"Oh, we're looking,"

I didn't bother turning around. I knew he was behind me the second he'd landed.

"Stay out of my head, demon hunter."

He chuckled and I glanced over my shoulder. Alice had made it. That was my job.

He was tall and broad with shaggy blonde hair that made it look like he'd just rolled out of the bed and came over. I could see all the marks along his body, the ones that healed him and the ones that made him stronger. I kicked my heels off.

"Where are the rest of you?" I yanked a clip from my wrist and put my hair up.

"Getting rid of your friends," he smirked.

"I doubt that."

He was fast. He aimed at my right and I dodged back. He was much faster than he looked, to say he was so big. I could feel the air from his missed hits. If he got me in the right place, I was gone. I knew that. I ducked to the ground and pulled myself up behind him. He spun around instantly. I didn't swing back. I just dodged. I wasn't going to kill someone. I was waiting for Edward. I could have been gone in a matter of seconds. I just had to make sure my family got out first. I wasn't leaving anyone behind.

I ducked beneath him again and grabbed one of his arms, tossing him to the ground. He was cute but his concentration was off. Even I could tell this wasn't his full potential. I flipped him and pinned myself above him. I could feel Edward's energy now. He was fighting. I looked down at my opponent. He glared back. He could have tossed me if he wanted to. Why didn't he?

"Do you always ask these many questions?" he asked out loud.

"What do you care?"

I felt Edwards energy shift and hopped up. He dove at me instantly and this time I did hit back. We went back and forth until I could feel Edward's energy lower. I grabbed my attacker by his shirt and pulled him close.

"This was fun. We should do it again, but your friends are coming."

They appeared on cue and he looked over his shoulder just briefly enough for me to jump gracefully from the roof and meet Edward on the next one. They didn't chase us though. He didn't chase us… but I could feel his eyes bearing in to me and it bothered me… not for my life but for my thoughts.

A/N: Do me a favor like my facebook page. I literally JUST made it.. PLEASE? Two likes and I'll do a chapter TODAY. /timelessmiahale
