For corlando, who prompted more Castle/Beckett (and last I checked, had her PMs turned off, so I can't reply to your reviews btw, thanks for those). Here's the first prompt. Hope you like it.
Stay in bed a little while longer
"Stay in bed a little while longer," Castle pleaded desperately.
"No," Kate snuffled, grabbing a Kleenex and sitting up. "I'm fine. I can go in to work."
He sighed. "Beckett, I've already called Gates and told her you're not coming in for the rest of the day."
Castle paused, determined not to yell, reminding himself that he really was quite fond of the woman in front of him, and that part of her frustration had to do with her current condition. "You were running a hundred degree fever at the precinct," he reminded her firmly. "Ryan, Esposito and I thought you were going to actually collapse at one point."
"I was not going to collapse!" she insisted stubbornly, wrapping her arms around herself for warmth. When had it gotten so damn cold in her apartment anyway?
Castle noticed. He placed a hand gently on her back and guiding her towards her bed. "Do you even remember the three of us getting you into your car?" he asked her.
"Of course I do!" she snapped. She did. Parts of the journey may have been a bit hazy, it's possible she fell asleep for a few minutes once she was sitting down in the passenger seat, but she remembered the general process at least.
"Okay," he said soothingly.
"And now that I've had a bit of arrest, I'm fine to go back to work," she told him.
"Beckett, you're shivering," Castle pointed out.
"I just need a warmer sweater," she said weakly.
He shook his head. "You need to cuddle up under the blankets and drink some tea. Maybe even with a little something extra to help you sleep."
"Shhh…" he said, flipping the blankets in her bed back for her. "Just lie down for a minute and get warm," he told her. "I'll go make you that tea. You really do need that sleep."
"Just for another hour," she conceded, climbing back in bed.
Castle sighed in relief, well aware that there was a distinct possibility they'd be having this argument in an hour's time, but willing to take what he could get.
He made sure she was tucked in and warm before turning towards her kitchen.
Her voice stopped him. "Castle?"
"Yeah?" he asked, turning back.
"Why are you still here?" she murmured sleepily.
He frowned. "What do you mean?"
Beckett yawned. "You didn't have to stay. You could have just dropped me off in my apartment, but you stayed."
"You weren't feeling well," he explained gently.
"I'm a big girl," she reminded him. "I would have been fine."
He decided to keep it light, knowing that telling her that he'd just wanted to take care of her wouldn't go over well. "Yeah, but I know you Kate. You also would have been back at work this afternoon. Clearly you need more rest. I stayed to make sure you got it."
"Shhh. Kate. I need you to rest today so that you'll be good as new and ready to chase down bad guys tomorrow. I find that whole process much less fun if you look like you're ready to fall over."
"Hmmm…." She hummed sleepily. "One more hour," she muttered again.
"Okay," he whispered with a smile before ducking into the kitchen.
When he returned a few minutes later with her tea (complete with a healthy dollop of whiskey), Castle found his partner already fast asleep. Smiling, he tiptoed over to the bed, and placed the tea next to her, in case she woke. He smiled affectionately at the woman burrowed in her blankets. Then he brushed her hair back out of her face, amused when she barely stirred.
"Just stay in bed a little while, Kate," he murmured, unable to resist placing a kiss just below her temple.
As he turned off the light and tiptoed out of her room, he nearly missed the sleepy sigh and pleased smile on her face.
