Chapter 1
Dean knew it was time. His Dad, John, was snoring fast asleep on the sofa with empty beer bottles scattered around him. Dean knew it was his only chance of escape from his abusing hands. With one broken rib, scars about his arms and his face and a black eye, Dean packed his belongings as quite as he could with his favourite gun stashed at the back of his jeans, and walked out the dirty hotel room.
Sam was at Bobby's because he refused to go on this hunt because he knew what Dean was going to do. John wasn't allowed near Bobby's anymore because last time, Bobby nearly shot him, so Dean knew his brother would be safe there without him. Sam was going to start collage soon anyway so that would also keep him safe and after that he said he will go to university.
Dean said goodbye to Sam on the phone, promising to ring every Wednesday night. Dean made Sam promise to look after his car which was still at Bobby's because John wanted to go in the pick up truck. After that, Dean threw his phone into the outside bin, memorising Bobby's number which he knew anyway. He catched several rides and finally arrived at a place he found… pretty awesome. It was a little place called Santa Cruz. Dean went to a shop, brought lots of hair dye, found a sign posting for rent, got a motel room nearby and then cut and dyed his own hair to make him have a dark green mohawk. He looked in the mirror.
This was the Day Priestly was born.
The next day, the brought his own apartment, it was cheap, small and dirty, nut when he finished with it, it was just right. He called Sam to say that he was okay and then went outside.
That was the day he got his tattoos, the one on his neck and the anti-possession tattoo on the left of his chest.
The next day he got the piecing on his chin, lip and eyebrow. That was also the day he got his job at the Beach City Grill.
He was home, but he was never, in fact, safe.
"Come on, Priestly! Just tell us!" Tish cried next to him with pout, fluttering her eyelashes as he folded the sandwiches he was making into the wrappers and handed them over the a girl at the other side of the counter who looked at his hair and walked away. He rolled his eyes as Jen and Piper joined in with the questioning.
"Is it Gerald?" Jen asked.
"No."
"Scott?" Piper asked.
"No."
"Tiffany?" Tucker chuckled, sat at a booth nearby.
"Hell no!" Priestly laughed and wiped down the counter he had just been working on. He was styled in his famous mohawk, which was red today; piercing's in and eye liner with a pair of blue jeans and a shirt saying 'CityMorgue.Youkill 'em,Wechill 'em' which made the girls laugh the first time they saw it.
"Give us a clue, Priestly." Piper said with puppy dog eyes. Priestly looked away before his could cave with a smirk on his lips.
"No." He answered, rolling his eyes when they all started complaining at the same time, "Does it really matter? Really?"
"Yes!" They all answered together, including the regulars. Priestly rolled his eyes again and went back to stirring the meatballs in the pan on the stove.
Priestly sighed, "I can't tell you, okay?"
Jen chuckled nervously, "What is it? Witness protection?" She joked.
"Something like that." He answered, surprising everyone in the Grill to silence.
"You are a mystery, Priestly." Tucker said with a shake of his head as Priestly moved his hands and head like a 'TAAADDDAAA' movement and smirked.
"You love it."
"What do we actually know about you?" Piper questioned, making a lot of people think about it.
"Your 26." Tish blurted out, smiling she had won a million pound.
"Actually, I'm 27 as of…" Priestly looked at the black watch on his wrist with the rest of the bracelets on there. "… 2 days ago."
"Why didn't you tell us?" Jen asked him as he shrugged.
"I haven't celebrated my birthday since I was 4, Jen. I don't think starting now is going to change anything.
"Really? Wow."
"It's no big deal."
"It's no big deal? It's no big deal? Are you fricking kidding me? It's your 27th! You're supposed to get drunk and hook up, not chill in a sandwich shop until you go home just to watch the new episode of Jerry Springer." Tish exclaimed.
"Hey! He has very important arguments and… there's a pole, and some fit chick always ends up with their top off." Priestly winked which made Piper and Jen chuckle at Tish's outrageous look, "Anyway, you need me to go on a run, Tucker?"
Tucker nodded, sensing that the poor kid just wanted out of the questioning, "We need toilet paper. And more cans of coke. Take the Cos-mobile to get them if you want. I was supposed to go and pick them up in an hour, but…"
"Okay, Tucker. I got it." Priestly grabbed the keys off the hook and took of his apron before picking up his jacket and walking out the door.
"Is it me or has Priestly suddenly become more dangerous and secretive?" Tish asked the others. They all nodded quickly.
Everyone was cautious around Dean now, and he hated it. They gave him cautious looks, looked at the scars on his arm closely as well as the faint ones on this face which was supposed to be hidden by the piercing's and facial hair, but they noticed anyway.
They watched how well he handled the knife whist cutting the bread. They watched him stare out the window as if someone or something was gonna be there to take him away. They watched as he tensed when Zo came into the shop like she knew who he was and her giving him knowing looks like she knew what he was thinking.
They didn't know how long this had been going on, but now they noticed these little things Priestly would try and hide.
Then it happened…
