Growing Up Phantom
In this story Danny and Sam are 34. Please R&R! Enjoy!
Danny couldn't believe it had been ten years since he and Sam Manson (His best friend now wife), had gotten married. He also couldn't believe their oldest son, James was almost eight! Ethan, Elizabeth, and Elliot were four going on five!
Sam had went to college to become the counselor at Casper Grade School where she and Danny's children attended classes. Danny didn't have a chance to go to college. As soon as his secret was out, the white house called and offered him a job. A job he LITERALLY could not say no to. The night he graduated from high school, he officially became in charge of the "Men In White." The government agency that was in charge of taking care of any quote-unquote paranormal happenings.
Danny had to leave his family and go to Washington, D.C. every month for two weeks. Danny hated being away from his family, but, it was this job or be forced to go live in the ghost zone and be separated from his young family forever. Danny had to leave this week and he knew his son, James wouldn't like his Dad leaving the week before his birthday again...
"I'll get back two hours before your party even starts, James." Danny reassured his son.
"But, what if you don't?" James insisted.
"I'll get here even if I have to fly all the way home. Now, I've gotta go. I have a plane to catch. And you have school to get ready for." And with that, Danny opened the door.
"Danny!" Sam motioned for him to come over.
"What, honey? Afraid you wouldn't get your goodbye kiss?" Danny teased.
"That and there's something I need to tell you...privately." Danny closed the door and followed his wife to a small walk-in closet full of government approved ghost hunting gear.
"Danny," Sam started as she closed the door. "I'm pregnant." She blurted it out.
"Well, that's great honey! Wait...how far along?" Sam didn't want to tell him...
"Maybe 31/2 months..."
"What?" Now Danny was confused. Why would she wait that long to tell him?
"Let me explain..." She began. "I knew about six weeks ago. But, I didn't want to tell you because of work. I was afraid it would stress you out. The reason I told you today is because by the time you got back, you would figure it out. So, I thought I'd save all the stress and worry and tell you now."
"Couldn't you have done it six weeks ago?" Danny was frustrated. Sam did this to him every time!
"Danny... I would have, but..." Sam noticed Danny's ghost sense go off. They forced open the closet door. Sam ran to the triplet's room. Everything was fine. Danny flew through the rest of the house.
"Find anything?" Sam asked.
"Nope...wait! Just wait. James come in here!" James walked in the room.
"Yeah, Daddy?" James asked curiously as Danny felt of his arm.
"Oh, boy... I'll be back." Danny flew up to his home office and was back down again in a couple of minutes.
"I'm not going to work at Washington D.C. this month and you're not going to school." Danny stated.
"Why?" James asked curiously.
"Because, James. You're not just James Fenton anymore. You're now James Phantom."
