As morning broke, Thomas felt himself eager to start the day. Since he couldn't get any sleep, might as well do something productive while he's awake. As he ventured through the forest, down to the river to gather water, Thomas's thoughts ran to last night's events. Teresa. Had she actually been able to get through to him again? No, that's impossible. Unlike Thomas, Teresa had actually gone through with the operation WICKED had said would bring all their memories back. That also meant their telepathic connection was gone.

A million thoughts raced through Thomas's mind. He scratched the back of his neck, and plopped himself on the ground. Lying on the soft green grass, he slowly felt himself relax as the gentle wind passed through his hair and the soothing sound of the rushing water consumed his mind. Everything around him was at peace. When all of the sudden, he heard her again.

Tom. Tom where are you?

Thomas froze. It was her. This time he was absolutely sure of it.

Teresa? Teresa, I'm here!

Tom! Please listen, we don't have much time. You need to-

"There you are! I've been looking all over for your shuck face."

Thomas jumped, and turned around to find Minho standing behind him.

"Minho, I –"

"Honestly, how long does it take to gather a bloody pail of water, eh?"

"Sorry, it's just. It's weird, I keep hearing…..ah, nevermind."

Thomas got up and brushed the dirt off his hands as he stared at the ground deep in thought. Minho caught the troubled expression on Thomas's face.

"Well come on, what is it? You can tell me, you know that."

Thomas let out a frustrated sigh.

"I keep hearing her."

"Hearing who?" Minho furrowed his brows in confusion.

Thomas kicked a stone into the river. It had been months since their escape and Thomas hadn't once uttered her name; the word felt foreign on his tongue.

"Teresa."

Minho looked at Thomas wide-eyed as he was taken aback by the sudden mention of her name. He put a hand on Thomas's shoulder.

"Thomas, you know she's -"

"Dead! I know…..I know, but I also know what I heard, and it was her. "

Thomas turned to look Minho in the eye.

"I'm sure of it."

Minho stared at Thomas's face and frowned.

"Look, Thomas. I know what she meant to you, even after everything. But you saw it yourself! You saw what happened to her, didn't you?"

"I can't explain it, but she's alive. I know she is." Thomas brushed off Minho's hand. "And she needs my help."

Minho shook his head. Thomas couldn't be serious…could he?
