A/n: Skyclan live where firestar left them. If you read skyclan's destiny, then you will know where the rats built their trash pile. That's where nightclan live. The story takes place before dove knows that tiger goes to the darkforest. Sky and night cats also go to the dark forest. Also briarlight was never injured, but longtail is dead.
Disclaimer: I don't own Skyclan or warriors. I only own skyclan's cats minus dove, tiger, and Echowind. Kittyninja owns nightclan, and its cats plus Echowind.
"Lets go!" firestar yowled from beside the thorn tunnel. Tonight was the full moon and time for the gathering.
"Are you excited?" bumblestripe brushed up against my flank, purring.
"Yeah, I guess." I'd noticed him moving closer to me every day and the other young she-cats look at me with jealousy. Especially his sisters. They thought I was stealing bumblestripe from them. But I knew better, tigerheart and I were going to meet up at the gathering tonight. "It's cold as a fox's heart out here." I meowed suddenly shivering.
"I know." Bumblestripe nudged closer. "I don't know why windclan likes the moor. It's windy and cold even in greenleaf." We had crossed the moor and were now heading for the tree bridge. "Careful on the tree, the wind is strong." Bumblestripe jumped up ahead of me.
"Thanks for the warning." I jumped up and as soon as my paws touched bark, I was almost blown off. I quickly scooted across the trunk and leapt down. I scented the air and knew that shadowclan had arrived. I could hear tigerheart in the middle of his clanmates sitting next to flametail.
"Want to find a spot together?" bumblestripe looked over at me as we emerged into the clearing.
"Maybe in a little bit." I left bumblestripe looking disappointed sitting next to his sisters. I felt sorry for him, he really did like me, but I'd rather be with tigerheart. Making a beeline for him I noticed that he was still talking to flametail. "Hi tigerheart, flametail." I sat down and curled my tail over my paws.
"Uh, dovewing," tigerhearts pelt was pricked with guilt. "I told flametail. You know, about us.
"What?" I hissed, my ears flat back against my head. "Why?"
"You told ivypool." As if saying her name summoned her, ivypool walked up behind me.
"Oh. You're talking to him. You know I still don't approve of this."
"And why should you?" I began, and then leaned in to whisper in her ear. "I am breaking the warrior code." So are you. I added silently. Tigerheart and flametail need'nt know about the dark forest.
"So you wanna go now, or when the meeting's over?" tigerheart purred questioningly. We had decided to sneak off so I could tell him my plan alone.
"Now!" I jumped to my paws eagerly. "See you two later, cover for us." I bounced away in one direction, tigerheart in the other complaining of finding a sheltered spot. We didn't want anyone seeing us sneaking off together. I brushed through the undergrowth tracking him with my special power. He was almost to the meeting place so I hurried up. By the time tigerheart got to me, I was laying in the brush with my tail over my flank.
"So this idea of yours?" tigerheart lay facing me. "You sounded so excited."
"A few sunrises ago I heard sandstorm and firestar's story of their journey to restore Skyclan." I recounted to tigerheart how firestar had brought back Skyclan moons ago.
"And your idea is to run away and find them?" tigerheart looked nervous. He was a loyal shadowclan cat, and I knew how hard of a decision it was to make. I would have to leave whitewing, birchfall, and ivypool. Not to mention the omen of the stars.
"If you don't like the idea, forget I ever said it." I was disappointed I thought tigerheart liked me. I looked down at the ground dejected.
"I never said that. It's just," tigerheart brushed my cheek with his tail. "I don't know if it's right to run away from our problems." It just wasn't fair to tigerheart. He was so sweet, how could I ask him to abandon his loyalty and everything he knows and loves?
"But after this gathering we wont be able to see each other again. Lately I've been too tired to hunt after our night meetings. We'll never start a family." I yowled getting louder.
"Hush," he lightly slapped his tail across my mouth. Paw steps were heard just outside of our hiding place. "Ow!" tigerheart snatched his tail back as I bit it.
"It's only ivypool, mouse-brain," I hissed. "Is something up ivy?"
"No, I just wondered where you went. Didn't you hear the call? Meeting's almost over."
"Oh, well we- ow!" a stab of pain in my belly made me drop into a crouch. "Ivypool, get jayfeather."
"What should I do?" tigerheart paced back and forth as ivypool ran off.
"Do and say nothing." I hissed as my belly hurt again less than last time. The pain was beginning to go away. Soon ivypool came rushing back with jayfeather on her heels.
"What's wrong? Is it the three stars?"
"No." I managed to hiss as the pain got worse then suddenly stopped. "The pains gone now." I panted.
"Really?" he turned his sightless gaze on me. "I've heard about that before. Recently in fact, while you were freeing the river from the beavers." Jayfeather flicked his ears. "So it's tigerheart?"
"What?" tigerheart's shackles rose as he hid his surprise. "What are you asking? I heard dovewing yowling and came to see what was wrong. Don't forget, she and I are friends since we traveled together. Wait what was the question again?" he finished lamely.
"Dovewing should know what I'm talking about, the question wasn't for you. But I think you just answered it." Jayfeather was running his paws through the fluff on my belly. "So is it?" he asked without looking up.
"No." he was right I understood what he was saying. I'd known for a while, and the Skyclan plan was my last hope. "Bumblestripe." It was the first name that came to mind and everyone already knew we were close.
"Ok." Jayfeather started to walk off, "I'll find him and you can tell him. But don't forget about the three stars." He hissed the word three over his shoulder as he left.
"What's going on?" tigerheart moved closer and ivypool looked puzzled.
"I'll tell you the whole story later, and tigerheart, please consider my suggestion. Now more than ever." I knew that if tigerheart and I left now everyone would know our secret and never let us come back.
"The gathering is over. Why are we here?" bumblestripe saw me and came rushing over. "Are you ok?"
"Yes." I meowed out loud. Then I whispered in his ear, "help me." Everyone else backed off to give us space.
"You said you were fine." His pelt spiked with worry.
"Help me. I'm having kits." My eyes were filled with desperation. "And you are not the father."
"What?" bumblestripe's ears went up in surprise. "I'm not? Then who is?"
"I cant." My eyes flicked over to tigerheart.
"Him?" bumblestripe hadn't missed my subtle movement.
"Thunderclan is leaving. What are you all doing here with a shadowclan cat?" firestar walked into the clearing.
"I heard dovewing in the bushes and she asked me to get help." Tigerheart spoke up. "I don't know what was wrong."
"Dovewing? Are you ok?" firestar looked worried, but of course since he is my kin.
"Pretend you're the father, please!" I hissed into bumblestripe's ear.
"I'd be honored to." He whispered back. He stood up straight and looked straight at tigerheart. "Dovewing is having kits." He meowed clearly.
