Hmm, well, this has got to be one of the weirdest and most specific requests I have gotten so far. XP
I've really only seen bits and pieces of the Hoodwinked movies, so forgive me if anyone is extremely out of character or anything.
Wolf stood in the shadows of the trees away from the cheerful circle of firelight. It was Red's birthday, and all the HEA agents had thrown her a humongous party that was just now beginning to wind down with bonfire. As the sky began to darken, Wolf shifted uneasily, tossing a small box from hand to hand and wondering how to get Red away from the others without arousing suspicion. Then the supposedly cursed goatpulled out his banjo instrument thing and burst into song, earning death-glares and yawns and muttered threats directed to whoever had invited him as everyone reluctantly turned in his direction. Wolf used the opportunity to sneak closer and scan the crowd for a certain red hood. To his relief, he quickly spotted Red sitting a little to the side, her eyes glazed in what Wolf assumed was boredom.
"Red," he hissed. She spun around, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him. Or maybe it was just a reflection of the firelight.
"Wolf! Where have you been all day?" Wolf glanced nervously towards the fire and moved slightly deeper into the woods, pushing the box into the pocket of his hoodie.
"...I have something for you." Red tilted her head.
"You want me to come with you? Right now?" She asked curiously.
"...Uh...Yeah, I...um, if you don't mind..." Wolf stuttered, hoping he didn't sound too disturbing or anything when Red grinned and jumped up, tiptoeing cautiously in his general direction.
"I thought you had forgotten all about-" apparently her eyes had not yet adjusted to the darkness because she tripped over something and stumbled against his chest, knocking him over and landing on top of him. There was a moment of awkward silence as she looked down at him briefly before pushing herself off of his chest, giving an embarrassed chuckle. "Sorry." Wolf cleared his throat and stood up.
"...And that is why you never walk alone through the woods at night. It's when the tree roots tend to go hunting, and a delicious looking thing like out wouldn't stand a chance on your own." He said in a light tone. Uncharacteristically, Red giggled, a surprisingly cute sound, and started following him through the trees without hesitation.
"Suuuure." She scoffed playfully. "There are much more dangerous things in the woods than roots."
"Like wolves?" Wolf forced himself to concentrate on the conversation and not on how her curvaceous body had felt, writhing against his moments ago. His thoughts wandered...
...until a soft sigh made him turn his head. They had made their way out of the forest and were now heading towards his trailer, and Red was looking up at the sky which was no longer tree obscured.
"The stars are so beautiful tonight." She murmured.
Not as beautiful as you. He thought.
"It's cold out here." Wolf said aloud and left her side, walking up to the front door and holding it open. A few seconds later, Red followed him inside, sitting on the edge of the fold out couch as Wolf closed the door behind them before turning to the brown-haired girl. "Uh, close your eyes," he suggested, unexperienced when it came to gift giving.
"Why, are you going to eat me?" Red joked, but closed her eyes all the same, much to his relief. He gingerly sat down beside her and opened the box, placing it in her hands and resisting the urge to inch closer. Her eyes flew open and widened as she slowly lifted the contents into the air. A tear formed and was held, suspended in the lush lashes at the corner of her eyes. She was silent.
"Well good thing I kept the receipt," Wolf began but stopped when Red turned to him. Her glossy eyes made his heart pound. All that time, the years spent with her at HEA and he had just now began to realize how stunningly beautiful her eyes were.
"It's..it's perfect Wolf," she whispered and held the locket out in front of her. "Will...will you put it on for me?" Wolf took the necklace from her as she turned her back and lowered her hood, exposing her pale neck. he leaned closer and slipped the necklace over her head, fastening the clasp and shivering slightly as he was assaulted by the sweet vanilla and rose petal scent that floated around her.
"Happy birthday Red," he murmured, reaching downwards and entwining his fingers with hers before he knew what he was doing. He held his breath and tensed slightly, half-expecting a few broken bones as Red turned, her eyes flickering down to their hands, so very different from each other. Her gaze met his and Wolf immediately felt lost in the depths of her big blue eyes. His vision blurred. What he wanted more than anything in the world was to gather her into his arms, pull her against his chest and just hold her, keep her safe from the many dangers that they faced on various missions.
Naw...she would most definitely do a better job of taking care of herself than he would. And open a serious can of whoopass if he actually ever did anything like hug her...Or would she?
As Red blinked, bringing him back into the world, he realized that he was caressing her hand and seemed to have moved a few inches closer to her face.
"W-Wolf..?" Red stuttered, either to shocked or distracted to inflict pain upon him. possessed by some strong and unfamiliar emotion, Wolf brought his other hand up to the side of her face.
Then the door flew open.
