Series One, Episode Six
He watched Tom Ryan get murdered and it scared Nick. The future predators…they were loose in the past and they could've changed anything. Never mind the constant begging from Helen to go with her, to change the future, to find the future, he didn't want to. He knew where he belonged and it was with Connor, Abby, Stephen, Claudia, and sadly even James Lester. Though he cursed that name and he wanted to send a future predator after him, if it came to it, he'd defend him. Not that he would let anyone here him say those words.
They had seen their own camp weeks ago, they had made their own future. Tom and him. The man was bloody and well dead, any other person probably would've just left him there, but Nick had to be decent. He had to bury him, it was only proper.
"Nick, come on, we could explore Anomalies together."
"I don't want to see the future. I know where I belong Helen, and it's in the present day."
Walking out of that Anomaly was the worst thing he'd ever done. He wished he could just go back in, and claim he didn't know a thing. Let the future predator maul him to death. What had even happened back there?
"Where's Claudia? Where's Claudia Brown?"
And everyone asked the same question. Who? Who was Claudia Brown. And everyone claimed the same thing. That they'd never known her, that they left the Home Office ages ago, that they worked in the ARC. And finally Nick caught on.
"Something that we've done has changed the past and she's not here with us anymore…"
They all gave him that crazy look, even Connor. They didn't understand. Claudia was wiped off the face of the planet, not a trace and no one knew who the hell she was and that broke his heart. Claudia was supposed to be there…
"Cutter, Cutter are you okay? Come on, we'll take you back to the ARC." Abby offered, handing him a water bottle. "Take a sip, I don't mind. You need it, you are overheated."
"Cutter, are you having a nervous breakdown?" Connor asked, but he could hardly hear. There was a ringing in his ear and he had blurred vision and Stephen was holding him back from going back through the Anomaly.
Nothing but Claudia mattered to him at this moment. Nothing.
