Mike never gets to sleep at night, or any other time really. It started in middle school when he stayed up at night thinking about his parents. In high school, it was Trevor and Jenny keeping him up. During that one year of college, fruitless studying required all his time. Now, it's Harvey and the job occupying his nights. Mike's always tired. He's always been always tired. He's not an insomniac; he could easily lay down right now and sleep for at least a day. But there's so much more to do than sleep that he just doesn't, even if he really wants to. So, this behavior pretty much ends in Mike falling asleep just about anywhere he gets a break. One time he fell asleep in Harvey's private elevator. Another on Trevor's front stoop and only for a minute in Louis's office. Mike loved sleep. He really did, but their relationship was fleeting if nothing else. He'd catch a few minutes when he put his head down at lunch, a few more in Rachel's office while she pretended to need his help, and a little more than a few minutes on the nights he didn't spend at Harvey's. Donna kept telling him to get more sleep. She even tried pushing some sleeping pills on him, but Mike had kindly rejected. He liked his sleep relationship just fine, even if it was barely there. Eventually though, Donna told him, he would crash and need to get some sleep regardless of the amount of red bull he could buy. It didn't take long for Mike to flicker out. After Mike had fallen asleep during two client meetings (even if it was only for a minute), in his cubicle, and on Harvey's office couch, Harvey ordered Mike to go home and sleep. He even offered Mike his place to go to as long as he'd "damn well get some sleep."
Mike had grinned like an idiot, pocketed Harvey's spare key for another time, and gone back to his familiar (as it could be when he barely used it) bed. He stripped down, took a hot shower, and put on fresh boxer briefs before climbing in. He didn't know how long Harvey would actually let him stay home and sleep, but, if it was at least more than an hour, Mike would be happy. His grey sheets were blissfully cool against his heated skin. He sank into the pillows, stretching out his legs like he did in Harvey's bed (where he also rarely got to actually sleep). Though, in his own bed, he feet hung off the edge unlike in Harvey's. Face down with his arms under his pillows, Mike fell asleep instantly. He stayed that way for a good fourteen hours before Harvey began to wonder if his associate slash boyfriend was still alive and blew Mike's phone up, which Donna had kindly silenced, before showing up on fire escape and tapping on the window until Mike woke up.
