A/N: For this story, Bella turned seventeen in 'New Moon' instead of eighteen.
Bella's POV
I laid on my bed staring into space. Things were bad again. Things hadn't really been good since the Cullens left, but they started to get better when I started hanging around Jacob. But now he was gone too. He'd decided that he couldn't hang around me anymore.
I wasn't sure why Jake was abandoning me, just that it had something to do with Sam Uley and his little gang. Jacob had just joined them one day and started avoiding me. Now I was alone again.
I was starting to wonder if there was something about me. Was there something wrong with me? I almost felt like they had to be for the people I loved to keep leaving me like this. First the Cullens and now Jake. What had I done to deserve that?
I was soon pulled from my thoughts by the sound of Charlie's voice. "Bells, it's time for school."
I looked and saw him at my door. "Fine. I'll be down in a minute," I said almost robotically.
"Alright, I've had enough. You are going to go live with your mother. I mean it this time," Charlie said firmly.
"I'm not going," I said simply.
"Yes, you are. I am your father and you are still under age. You will do what I say!" Charlie told me sternly.
I sat up and glared. "I said I'm not going! I won't leave. If you want me to go you'll have to carry me onto the plane." I wasn't sure why I was fighting so hard. It would be so much easier for me to just get out of Forks and forget all about my life there, but the truth was I didn't want to forget, and a part of me still held out hope that Edward would come back.
"And that's exactly what I'll do if I have to," Charlie warned. "You are going!"
I started seething. Who did he think he was acting so parental all of a sudden? It seemed kind of late in the game for him to start acting like a real father. "Get out! Get out of my room!"
"Bella-"
"No! Leave!" I screamed.
Charlie sighed and walked out the door.
I laid back on my bed and started crying again. It seemed to be the one thing I was good at doing lately.

Charlie's POV
After leaving the house, I went out to the woods with a couple of guys from the reservation. We were going to try again to see if we couldn't find those bears that kept attacking.
"You okay, Charlie?" Harry asked me.
Apparently me row with Bella was showing. It wasn't that I wanted Bella to leave. I didn't. I loved having her with me. But I could see my little girl slowly falling into the abyss and I couldn't allow that to happen. If that meant sending her away, so be it. "Yeah, I'm fine, Harry. Bella and I just got into it a bit before I left."
"I thought she was doing better," Harry said.
"She was. She seemed to be coping well when she was hanging out with Jacob, but that stopped. I think they must have had a fight or something," I said.
For a moment, it looked like Harry had a look of regret on his face, but it went away so quickly that I figured I must have imagined it. "Anyway, now she's started to get depressed again. Look, why don't we split up. We can cover more ground that way."
"Whoa. Charlie, I'm not sure that's a good idea," Harry said.
"Don't worry. It'll be fine. This way we can cover more ground," I said before leaving a hesitant Harry.
I through the woods for about a mile before stopping abruptly. There was a woman in front of me with red hair and extremely pale skin. It reminded me a lot of the Cullens. "Hello, ma'am. Do you need some help?"
The woman smirked. "I think I just found exactly what I need," she said.
The next thing I knew, the woman had tackled me to the ground. I tried to fight her off and grab my gun, but she was unusually strong. She tilted my head to the side and bit into my neck.
I screamed out in pain as bite me. It hurt like hell. I keep waiting for her to let go, but she didn't. She kept her teeth sunk into my neck.
I laid there thinking I was about to die when I heard loud growls come out of nowhere. Before I knew it, the woman was pulled off of me by some kind of animal.
That didn't stop the pain I was feeling. If anything, it seemed to intensify with every passing second. I felt like my insides were on fire. Like I was being burned alive from the inside out. It was unbearable. I felt like I was going to die.

Jacob's POV
After destroying the leech that attacked Charlie, Paul, Embry, Sam, and I went back over to him. He was laying on the ground thrashing in pain.
I growled in anguish. It made me angry to see what had happened to him. It wasn't fair. He was the last person on Earth that deserved this.
'You know what we have to do, Jake,' Paul thought to me telepathically.
'No!' I replied fiercely. I couldn't kill Charlie. I couldn't do that to him or to Bella. How would I ever look her in the eye again if I killed her father?
'He's already dead, Jacob. He was dead the moment that thing bit him,' Sam told me.
'But-'
'We have no choice! If he transforms, he'll be nothing but another leech. Another thing that kills. Are you really going to let that happen to him?' Sam asked.
'We don't know that that will happen,' I tried to say. Even I knew it was weak though. Of course it would happen. That was just what leeches did.
'He won't be able to help it, Jake. It'll just be what he is. He will be nothing but a killer. Someone that will kill his own daughter as soon as look at her," Embry said.
I looked down at Charlie, who was still thrashing. I knew my fellow pack members were right. I couldn't let Charlie become one of them. It went against everything I was to let something like that happen. I had to put Charlie out of his misery now.
'I'm sorry, Charlie. Bella, please forgive me," I said in my head before lunging at an unsuspecting Charlie.
