It was already 8:00 AM in my world. I hate mornings with a passion. It was incredibly hard to wake up for school every morning as a teenager. Things like that haven't changed a bit.
Unfortunately, I had to wake up early today for my job interview at the local Best Buy. Sure, it's not the most glamorous job in the world but it'll pay the bills. That is, if I even get the job.
I climbed out of my king sized bed and stretched my whole body. I walked into my bathroom and took a nice, long shower.
After my shower I put on a white top and a pair of grey trousers. I also put on my heart shaped pendant. I wear this necklace everyday because it's something special to me. My parents gave it to me before I moved away from home. I grew up with them in a small town in West Virginia.
I'm a hick at heart, I suppse.
Soon, I graduated high school and went on to pursue a music career.
But everything changed when I met Chris.
He seemed like the perfect boyfriend. I gave him everything I had. When he proposed to me I dropped everything and quit following my dream to be a music teacher.
But on the day of the wedding, Chris confessed that he had been cheating on me for months and left me at the altar, alone.
I was so devastated that I decided to move somewhere where no one knew my name. I wanted a fresh start, and today I was taking another step in that plan by getting off my lazy ass and getting a job.
I sighed heavily and went downstairs to find some breakfast. Poptarts seemed to be calling my name so I popped them in the toaster and went to watch some television. Figures, nothing was on so I clicked to my DVR and watched some Tosh.0.
This show is probably my favorite. The internet videos were hilarious but what really attracted me to it was the host.
My God, this man was attractive. He was witty and comical, not afraid to make a fool of himself, it seemed. He has the best smile and the most gorgeous brown eyes.
I was in this trance for about 10 minutes when I smelt something burning.
"SHIT!" I exclaimed.
I ran into the kitchen and had a duel with my toaster. I ended up burning my hand in the process and finally i just unplugged the demon thing.
"Breakfast of champions my ass." I muttered as I threw my burnt poptarts in the garbage.
I guess eggs were gonna have to do today.
After eating, I got my things together and headed out to my black Chrysler 300 C. This job was totally gonna be mine soon enough.
With traffic being so hectic it took me at least a half hour to drive to the local Best Buy.
"Wow, record timing."
Seems I made it just within minutes of my interview. I smiled to myself and walked into the large store.
I walked over to the checkout desk and saw a girl around my age with brown hair and big, green eyes.
"Excuse me, I'm here for a job interview." She smiled and nodded her head. "You must be Miss Taylor."
"Please, call me Erica." We shook hands and she led me to a room in the back of the store.
A middle aged man with gray-ish hair was sitting in a chair in front of a desk covered with papers. The young woman knocked on the already opened door and announced my arrival.
"Ah yes. Thank you, Melody." This guy seems nice enough…I hope.
He stood up and greeted me. "So you must be the young lady wishing to apply for a job."
"Yes, that's me." I took his outstretched hand and shook it firmly. He had a nice grip shown from years of experience.
"Please, sit down." I did as told and sat in the chair across from his desk. I was ready to get down to business.
About 15 minutes later we had gone through my resume and basically just a Q&A session.
"Well Miss Taylor, you appear to have all the qualifications of working here. And you're quite a charming young lady."
"Thank you Mr. Hartley."
"Please, call me Bob."
"Short for Robert I presume?" I asked.
"That's right. You're a very bright kid."
He stood from the desk and walked over to a storage closet and pulled out a blue polo with the Best Buy logo on it.
"This one should fit you." He said as he threw me the shirt.
"Wait, so this means I got the job?"
"Yes ma'am. Now, you will start work on Monday morning. Be here by 8 AM sharp." He commanded.
"I won't let you down, Bob!" I said while saluting him.
"I know you won't. And I know this probably won't be the most glamorous job you'll ever have but it's a damn good start."
"Thank you so much sir- uh, I mean, Bob. Hehe."
"Welcome to the family kid." He patted me on the back and gave a hearty laugh. I could tell he was going to be a great boss for sure.
I walked out of his office only to come face to face with Melody. She had a huge smile plastered on her face.
"Soooo you got the job?"
"Yep! Looks like we'll be work buddies now."
"That's so awesome! I was wondering when another young female would show up around here."
I chuckled, "Well, I'll see you on Monday."
I walked out of the store and started doing a little victory dance.
Everyone around could feel my good vibes. Plus the big smile on my face could tell I was in a great mood.
I got in my car and drove home, music blasting the whole way.
