okay, just saw these movies the other day and once again my imagination flew. So... here goes nothing I guess.
A farmhouse. A barn. a fence circling acres of land out in the country. Yet, no cows. No horses, not even pigs. But every once in a while a big red figure with two little different colored figures can be seen. One of the little figures is red, like the big one but more of a feminine body type. The other is built like the red one but has more of an orange/yellow tone to his skin. Then another feminine figure could sometimes be seen, watching from the porch of the house. She looks completely human but never needs to ask for a lighter. Then up the stairs, to the right at the far end of the house is a room full of books and three computers. In this room a fish man usually hangs out. There is a large tank in the corner full of water that he can climb into if ever he gets... dried out so to speak. It's a big house, big enough for the family of five. But we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, aren't we? I bet you're wondering who these strangers are...
"Oh Liz, you are absolutely lovely." Abe said as she sat down next to him on the couch in the farm house. They had lived there for about 8 months now. Red, or Hellboy, lounged in the arm chair across from them while the tv was on in the background. Liz rubbed her abnormally large belly.
"Abe, I'm fat!" she insisted, rubbing it.
"No, you are merely going through the phase of mother hood. I'm sure you'll be back to your size in no time!" he reassured.
"Whatever." she mused.
"Liz, I was wondering if maybe I could..." he trailed off, holding up his hands.
"What?" she asked, not following.
"Well, I was thinking to myself the other day. I placed my hand on your stomach and could feel the fetuses forming. I wonder if maybe, this far into the pregnancy, they are developed enough for me to essentially know what they're thinking." he suggested. Liz glanced over at Red. Red blew out some smoke from the cigar.
"Worth a shot." he said, shrugging.
"Okay." Liz said, turning so Abe could get to her belly better. He placed her hands around her belly.
"Oh my." he said, seeming fascinated.
"What?" Red asked, leaning forward.
"A boy and a girl." Abe informed. "The boy loves the sound of your voice Liz." he said, turning to Liz. Liz smiled and looked down to her belly. "I'm here honey. I love you very much." she said, rubbing her belly.
"And the girl... is wondering where her father is." he said, glancing over to Red. Red came over, kneeling in front of the couch where Liz was and put his hands on her belly too.
"Daddy's right here baby." he said, smiling too.
Liz shot him a loving look and moved her hand to cover his on her belly.
"She can hear you." Abe said, looking sincerely at Red. Red felt his heart flutter. A dad. He was gonna be a dad. And his baby girl already loved him. Nothing could go wrong.
16 years later
"Red!" Liz hollered up the stairs as she threw on her coat.
"I'm up!" came the call. He came downstairs, obviously just pulling himself from the bed.
"Whatever." she said playfully as he came to stand in front of her. "If I come home today and Abe tells me you interrupted his lesson again to take the kids somewhere to do something I am going to fry you." she said, threateningly lighting the palm of her hand before she leaned up and kissed him.
"I'd like to see ya try." he smiled, kissing her again.
"Okay honey, I gotta go." she said, backing towards the door. "Somebody's gotta make the money in this family." she added playfully.
"Hey, I would work if half the city wouldn't egg the place I was working at!" Red defended as she shut the door. He was the stay at home dad while Liz had gotten a job that was able to provide for the whole family. She got good money from it. Meanwhile Abe took on the job homeschooling the kids. Red would hang around, get bored, and wait for the kids to get out of "school" before the fun truly began for him.
"Scarlet. Get up." came the fishman's voice in her room.
"I'm up!" she said, jumping up. He left the door and she laid back down again.
"I don't wanna get up." she muttered into the pillow, glancing out the window. Sun was shining through and she knew her "lesson" for the day should have already started. Looked like Abe either slept in too or felt like going easy on them this morning.
"Scarlet, I'm not going to say it again. You're father is already up and-"
"Whoa, whoa!" she said, sitting up. "Dad's already up? He's never up this early!" she said, glancing at the clock making sure it wasn't later in the day then she thought it was. It was only 8 o'clock.
"Yes. And if you don't get out of bed I'll have to get him up here to pull you out of bed." Abe threatened.
"Oh god. No, I'm coming. I'm coming." she said as he walked away from her door. She pulled herself from the bed. She went over to her dresser, pulling out a black t-shirt. She then pulled out a pair of black leather pants. Sure, she probably could have stayed in her pajamas but if dad came in and interrupted their lesson, she didn't want to be running through fields in her pjs. She had a slim figure. Very slim and may have almost looked normal if not for the tail, the filed horns, and red tone to her skin. She didn't have a big arm like her father but her brother, Crimson, had inherited it. She pulled on her boots and walked out to the study. Her brother, ever punctual, was already sitting in one of the chairs at the desk where Abe taught them their lessons.
and so the day begins... was her last thought before Abe began his lecture.
