The day was spent rushing around. It was full of hurry up and wait. It put me on edge and I hated being on edge.

"The bride wants to see you," I heard someone called out to me as I lurked in the shadows watching the crowd as the happy couple was toasted merrily. It was a sweet wedding, not that I got to see any of it, but I could tell. The bride was all starry eyed as she looked at her groom. The groom was handsome and just so bursting with happiness as he looked at his new wife. It was touching and I was happy to be a part of it, but it was always this type of happiness that reminded me what I was missing. It was always that empty space that felt the loneliest during blissful occasions like this.

I waited for the bride who gushed on drunkenly as she thanked me for everything. It was sweet how such little things made her happy and if my small part of her big day put a smile on her face then my job was done. With a simple kiss on her lovely cheek and I was on my way.

I glanced at my phone as what I had done for the hundredth time tonight nervously and smiled as I saw the text waiting for me.

I'm here.

He was here. He was finally here.
