Lucian stared at the small charm in his hand. The one Viktor had ripped from the remains of Sonja's smoldering corpse. The memory was still fresh in his mind, forever burned into his soul. She had died, but their child had lived, against all odds and Viktor's wishes. The last time he had seen his beloved daughter she was being whisked away in Luka's arms. Sonja was content in the fact that Everleigh would survive her grandfathers murderous rampage, even if it meant she would not. She had begged and pleaded with Lucian to find her and ensure she never retuned to this place. He had made that vow with ever fiber of his being, and promised to tell his daughter of her mother and the sacrifice she made to bring her into the world.

That had been over 762 years ago, the world had changed much over that span of time. Many wars were fought, both human and in-human. Vampires and Lycans were still mortal enemies, humans now knew of their existence, and his daughter was still lost. The purges set in place had rid the world of many lycans and vampires alike, Their numbers slowly being devastated, the few that remained hid underground before they too succumbed to the human threat. The tables had been turned and the humans were again back on top of the food chain.

Lucian glared down at the tiny token still in his hands. She was out there still waiting. He wondered if she knew who she truly was. If she had been taken care of this entire time. Obviously the knowledge of her continued existence over 700 years had alerted her to the possibility that she was something more than human. These thoughts continued through his mind until Raze's sudden entrance into the den broke his concentration.

"Any news?" Lucian questioned as the others began to pour in. Taylor, Xristo, Sabas, Gyorg, and Santos. All willing to lay down their life in the service of the one who procured their freedom. His most trusted allies in the ongoing war. Santos was his newest conquest, the young lycan feared no-one and hated vampires with a passion the came second only to Lucian. His rage and fierce strength cutting a bloody swath through the ongoing war. His rage was also his biggest weakness, being provoked at the slightest word or action, the stubbornness and attitude that came with the youth of his kind.

Raze glanced to the others "We're getting closer, reports of Tanis being sighted somewhere off to the North, he's keeping a low profile, staying underground until the need to move arises"

"That will be his undoing" Lucian pocketed the small trinket, keeping it close to his heart always. "We move out tonight, the humans are getting wise to our location, and if they know, then it won't be long before Tanis catches wind of it too" Tanis had a certain affinity with human women, and they for him. The though of lying with an immortal enticing, modern day spies whispering secrets in the safety of the underground. Santos was the first to question the move in typical fashion. Lucian had come to expect these almost daily irritants.

"We cant keep running!" Santos barked emerging from the back of the pack. "We have these bloodsucking scum right where we want them, we can't leave now" he approached Lucian, the smell of aggression was thick in the air. Santos' dominate stance alerted Lucian to the possibility of a turf war happening right now. Before a breath could pass anyone's lips Santos was suddenly thrown backwards as Raze came up from behind, Xristos and Gyorg had his arms pinned to the wall. Lucian approached.

"I gave you the opportunity to avenge the wrongs done to you. Not to undermine my authority or question my judgements, if you feel the need to leave, then leave" Lucian came eye to eye with Santos now, grabbing his collar and bringing him closer, malice laced his words "but nothing will come between me and my goal, and if you do anything to jeopardize this operation, i will kill you without a second thought. This dominance bullshit stops here, learn to control yourself or our time together will be cut very short" Stepping back he regained his composure and with a nod Raze and the others backed off. Santos straightened out his shirt and left the den in a huff.

"He becoming a problem" Raze spoke first to Lucian's back, "If he gets out of control, word can get back to Viktor and a bad situation can worsen, and thats something we don't need right now"

"Headstrong and arrogant...remind you of someone?" Lucian let a smile grace his lips, smiles were rare these days, the troubled times hardly gave anyone reason to smile anymore.

"A necessary evil back then, a death sentence now" Raze answered, he punched the wall in anger "We're too close to turn back, Tanis is within reach"

Lucian stayed silent, too many things were running through his mind, Tanis, his daughter, having to deal with Santos, and the ever present memory of his beloved Sonja. Everything was falling into place, that long ago promise coming closer to fruition.
