Since I'm in a good mood, today I uploaded 2 chapters. Have fun reading this chapter :)
Just when the parabatais were about to charge toward the armed men, Jessamine lowered her head and raised her voice.
"Stop! Both of you!"
Their bodies stopped as if they were electrified. Tessa, who was in front of her, opened her eyes and turned to Jessamine, there was a gap between her lips. Charlotte and Henry walked to stand around her. The married couple touched Jessamine's back to encourage her to move ahead, while the boys were looking back to her.
"But why, Jessie?" Tessa asked her.
She raised her head and faced Tessa with tearful eyes then she turned her eyes to Will and Jem.
"Are you crazy? What will happen if you fight them? It's not that you two can defeat them easily all on your own," she scolded them with lower voice. "Besides, you need to find your cure, Will. And what will happen to that someone if both of you are going to be arrested as well?"
At first Tessa had no idea that the person Jessamine was talking about was her, until a sudden idea clicked in her head. She was about to say something but the words stuck in her throat when she saw Jessamine winked her eye to her. Jem and Will's head faced to the ground as soon as the words left her mouth. Then at the same time, they laid their weapons to the ground.
Jonathan raised his hand again, a signal to stop his men from attacking.
Jessamine shifted her head to her right where Charlotte was standing at. She could see that she was trying to hold back her tears.
"Now, now. Don't cry, Charlotte. Don't get too emotional, it's not good for the baby, you know?" She comforted her as she rubbed Charlotte's arms, then embracing her. "Take good care of Charlotte and your baby, Henry," she continued to Henry.
He nodded, "I will."
"And you too, Sophie," she spoke to Sophie with a very soft voice, looking back at the servant.
Sophie, who never had a good relationship with Jessamine, was shocked for her concern was touched so she nodded and replied, "Yes, Miss Jessamine."
Then she faced Gideon, "As for you, Mr. Lightwood. Thank you for asking your father to bail me out of the Silent City, even just for a while. I appreciate it."
He simply nodded his head as a sign that he was saying your welcome.
Finally, she looked at Tessa and smiled a sad smile. "Why are you making that face? Come, dry those tears." She ran her thumbs to rub the tears that were running down Tessa's cheek. "Once again, thank you for inviting me to your wedding, though it didn't go well, but it was one of the happiest moment in my life, to see you, Jem and the others to smile so wide. I will never forget it," she mumbled nonstop.
Tessa stopped her mumbling by wrapping her arms around her and hugged her with a warm embrace. Then she let her go and walked toward the door, she stopped between where Jem and Will were standing at. She laid her palms on Jem's right shoulder and Will's left shoulder then pulled them together into a group hug. In her embrace, they wound their arms around each other. From Tessa's view, they looked like siblings.
"Goodbye, my brothers," she murmured.
"Bye, Jessie," Jem said.
Will stayed silent, letting his heart to say the words that he had kept inside him for so long, goodbye, sister.
She released them and went toward Jonathan's men who were in charge to seize her wrists together.
"A wise choice, Miss Jessamine," Jonathan praised her, rising his glasses by using his index finger.
Before they could leave, Jessamine turned around to see her family in the Institute for one last time. She took a deep breath and shouted the words she had wanted to say since she was taken to live with them.
"I LOVE YOU!"
Those three words pierced their hearts and Charlotte's hands were raised to cover her mouth to stop herself from bawling. Henry's tears spilled the moment he heard those words. Sophie tried to hold back her tears, but failed. She pressed her face against Gideon's chest and he wrapped her arms around her. Tessa couldn't hold back the feeling of losing Jessamine who was already like a sister to her inside her anymore so she let the heavy tears to fall down her cheeks. The two parabatais, Will and Jem stayed silent. Jem's eyes were tearful as he raised his head to look at her for the final time. Will let his head hang down, covering his eyes with his hair's bang. His fists were clutched, and his nails pressed against his palm so hard that blood may spill from it.
He raised his head too and replied, "WE LOVE YOU TOO, JESSIE!"
"WE WILL WAIT FOR YOU!" Charlotte joined.
Happily, Jessamine walked away with tears running down her cheek to her smiling lips. She thought that after her parents' death she would never feel the warmth of a family's love. But that thought was wrong, she was feeling the warmest love from a family she had never felt before until this moment. That she belonged in the Institute. Her home.
Tessa wiped her tears away then walked forward, stopping right next to Will.
"GOODBYE, JESSAMINE!" She shouted then raised her arm to wave her goodbye.
As Jessamine, Jonathan and his men disappeared from their eye sight. Tessa's tears spilled again and Will placed his palm on her shoulder. Needing for comfort, she turned around and tangled her arms around his waist, pressing their bodies together. As if he knew what she was thinking, he also wrapped his arms around her as he looked up into the night sky where the moon shone and a plenty stars were sparkling that were slowly covered by dark clouds and rain began to pour, drenching their clothes and bodies.
As you can see, this is Jessamine's chapter. Quite sad for me though. I guess I changed her character so much that she's really OOC. I hope you liked this chapter.
