Here's the first outtake from A Desperate Housewife's Escape. I wrote it for Fandoms4ME and it's a futuretake entitled Second Proposal.

DISCLAIMER: Twilight belongs to Stephenie Meyer owns Twilight. I'm just playing with her characters.

I took a deep breath and smoothed the skirt of the blue dress I was wearing out. Edward had announced this morning before leaving for work that he was taking me out for a meal. It had been a few months since the first time I'd met Amelia. Things with her were going well with her. We spoke on the phone frequently and Bree would send me pictures she'd drawn.

I could see a happy outcome for us and I couldn't find adequate words to describe how that made me feel. After years of wondering and hoping I had a chance to get to know my daughter and have her in my life forever. She'd get to know the children I had with Edward, when we got to that point and I'd never again catch myself wondering, what if?

I walked down the stairs to meet Edward. He'd driven over straight after going home to get showered and dressed. As I saw him in the hall my breath caught in my throat. He should with his hands in his suit pockets, looking out the window in the dining room. His sun caught his jaw and I couldn't help but smile. He was beautiful and he was mine. I didn't think I'd ever get used to that idea. Ever. Edward wanted me just as much as I wanted him.

I walked over to where he stood slipping my arms around his waist and resting my head against his back. I smiled as his hands encased mine. He turned in my arms to face me and his face broke out into that beautiful crooked smile. The same one I'd seen on that fateful day when he'd knocked on my door. I smiled as I looked up at him. "Did I ever thank you for knocking on my door that day?"

He grinned and kissed my nose. "Did I ever thank you for saying yes?"

The lazy smile that spread over Edward lips made me want to forget that I was being taken out and just stay in bed all night with Edward. His finger traced the curve of my cheek as he stepped back to look at me. I pouted as his arms left me and he chuckled.

"Bella, you look stunning."

I blushed and shuffled my feet. "Thank Alice for that. She picked everything out for me."

Edward smiled and kissed me. "Remind me to give her a call later."

I laughed as Edward took my hand in his, that same jolt ran through me and it felt right. After so much hurt I was with the person I was meant to be. As I walked out the house I froze when I saw the car on the drive. "Where did that come from?"

Edward shrugged. "I had it dropped off while you were getting ready; I want you to arrive in style."

"Wow, thank you."

Edward smiled as he opened the door of the Aston Martin for me. I slipped in and he shut the door softly. He climbed in and took my head in his as he drove out my drive. "So, where are we going?"

"It's a surprise."

I rolled my eyes. "You and your surprises."

Edward laughed. "Better get used to it, baby. I won't be changing."

I smiled. "I know and that's why I love you."

Edward squeezed my hand as he drove us to our mystery location. The last time he'd surprised me had been with the meal at the diner after I'd landed my job. I racked my brain to think what this could be but couldn't for the life of my figure it out.

Before long I realised where we were headed, Matthew's. I'd never been there before and had heard nothing but good things about them.

"So, you like?"

I grinned at Edward. "I love."

He smiled and kissed me before getting out and opening my door. "M' lady."

I rolled my eyes and took Edward's hand, as I did I couldn't help but notice the valet's face. Edward handed him the key and smiled. "Take good care of her."

He nodded before jumping in the car and driving off a little too zealously. "You realise he's going to take it around the block?"

Edward laughed. "As long as he brings her back in one piece I don't really mind."

"Whose car is it?"

"My dad's. He leant it to me for tonight."

"Remind me to thank him."

Edward chuckled. "It seems we have many people to thank."

I laughed as we walked up to the maître d' and Edward slipped his arm around my waist. "Table for two under Cullen."

She nodded, eyeing Edward up in the process and I wanted to throw my pointy stiletto at her head. I didn't think I'd ever get used to how woman fawned over Edward but I never worried about it. I trusted Edward implicitly and knew he'd never cheat on me. He would never hurt me like that.

The maître d' guided us to a cosy table for two with a lit candle in the centre as we sat she handed us two menus. "Your waitress will be with you shortly. Would you like anything to drink while you're deciding?"

"I'll have a beer and Bella?"

I glanced up from my menu. "Can have a glass of Merlot, please?"

She nodded and moved away. Edward took my hand in his and played with my left ring finger. "We really need to get a ring for that finger."

I nodded. "We really do. We've just been so busy lately. Everything's been insane these last couple of months."

"We'll have to go soon. It can be your birthday present."

"That would be cool. Nothing too flashy though. I had the biggest rock known to man from Mike and I hated it."

"I can just see it but don't worry, baby. I know what you like."

As Edward spoke I noticed how fidgety he was. "Everything okay? You seem a bit out of it."

He nodded, taking my hand in his. "I'm fine, baby. Better than fine. I'm awesome, I'm sat here with the most beautiful woman ever and she's mine."

I blushed as Edward kissed my hand. Shortly after our waitress made her way over and we ordered our food. All five courses. As I ordered my final course I wondered if I could eat it all. "Would you like another drink?"

It didn't escape my notice that she spoke directly to Edward causing me to want to throw my stiletto in someone's face for the second time tonight. "Bella?"

I battled to keep a straight face as the waitress turned to me. "I'll have another glass of Merlot."

She nodded stiffly before heading away and grinned at me. "I don't think she could be any more obvious if she tried. Plus, she can see I only have eyes for one woman in here. Especially when she's in that colour."

I blushed again as Edward pulled my face toward his, kissing me. I smiled as he broke away feeling giddy and ready to float away. Ever since I'd met Edward he'd been able to make me feel happy and free without even trying. Even now, with Mike behind me he still made me feel like that. I was free to be me with Edward, fulfil my hopes and dreams. He'd let me spread my wings and I'd always come back to him because of that. He was home.

"Earth to Bella."

Edward laughed as I shook my head. "Where'd you head off to?"

I shrugged. "I was just thinking, about us."

He took a sip of his beer before smiling. "Us?"

I nodded. "Just how things happened and how I feel free. You make me feel free Edward. So free."

"That's all I ever wanted, Bella. Was for you to be able to do what you wanted and to feel loved."

"Well, you've done just that."

As I finished speaking our first course arrived and we dug in. More courses came and went with Edward and I enjoying them together, sharing pieces of each other's meals and talking the whole way through. As we finished the fourth course I wondered how I'd be able to finish off the last. "I think I've been defeated."

Edward grinned that gorgeous crooked grin of his and took my hand. "That's okay. I'll just eat it for you."

I rolled my eyes as the waitress bought out the deserts and I looked upon it as my Everest. I would defeat it. I picked up my fork and went for it. I would not give up.

"So much for defeated. I've never seen you clear something away that fast."

I shrugged. "It was yummy, what else can I say. I'll be right back."

Edward nodded. "Don't take too long."

As I looked at Edward I could have jumped him right there. He looked so carefree and sexy. How long until we were home?

~~000~~

As I walked out the restroom I saw Edward talking to himself, it looked like he was talking himself up to do something. Tell me something. He looked so worried and as much as I wanted to ask him I figured it would be best not to. He'd tell me when he was ready.

As I walked toward our table Edward saw me coming and stood, taking my hands in his. "Edward, what are yo-"

I stopped mid-sentence as Edward dropped down on one knee. Oh God.

Bella. Do. Not. Cry.

I couldn't take my eyes off of Edward as he looked up at me. I was aware in the back of my mind that the whole of the restaurant had quieted but I couldn't focus on that. All I could see was Edward.

"Bella, I've watched you grow into a strong, independent woman these last few months. I've seen you break free and flourish and it's been beautiful to watch. I love you, Bella and I know I've technically asked you this before but I wanted to do it properly. Bella, will you do me the extraordinary honour of marrying me?"

I wiped the happy tears from under my eyes as I whispered, "Yes."

Edward grinned, kissing sliding the princess cut diamond ring onto my finger. It was perfect for me, everything I would ever want in an engagement ring. I knew Edward would find something I loved. He stood and kissed me as the restaurant applauded around us and he cupped my cheek as he broke away. "Don't cry, baby."

I grinned through my tears. "It's okay, these are happy tears. Edward, you make me so, so happy. I love you."

"I love you too, Bella."

Edward kissed me once more before holding my chair out for me and opening the bottle of champagne that had appeared while I'd been gone. He poured me a glass before pouring himself one. "To the beginning of forever."

I smiled feeling more happy tears in my eyes. "Forever."

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into Bella and Edward's future together. I'd love to hear what you thought and if you have an outtake/futurtake idea let me know in your review.

Thank you to everyone who donated to Fandoms4ME and to Lucy for beta'ing this futuretake for me.

Until next time...
