I'm so obsessed with these initiation fanfics. Legit.

Enjoy! And yes, Klaine is still at Dalton right now, and together, and Sebastian doesn't exist (THANK GRILLED CHEESUS)

P.S. I know NOTHING about the details of hypothermia, so please no witch hunts. Please and thank you!

The Warblers had never been ones to think up stupid ideas. And then the initiations came along.

Kurt had come to Dalton after Wes had thought them up and gotten them approved (somehow) by the school board; a seemingly harmless prank that would just initiate a new member into the group.

The minute Wes announced the new tradition, Kurt disliked it. He prayed to the Great Spaghetti Monster (A/N: Private joke in my German class. Hehe) that they wouldn't get any new members.

Of course, it was the Warblers. That never happened.

"Boys, meet our newest member, Mason Kelly," David announced. A small freshman walked into the room, a blank look on his face. He was presented his warbler that replaced Pav and sat next to Kurt, shooting him a tiny smile before it wiped away. Kurt shot a forced one back, scared of what the Council would want to do to him.

After the meeting was over, Mason had left with his new warbler and the others stayed behind.

"Alright, we already have an idea for his initiation," Wes said excitedly. "One of you will sneak in the locker room during his gym period and take all the clothes from his locker. When he goes in the shower, another will take his gym clothes."

"But he'll be naked," Kurt protested.

"Exactly!"

"Wes, that's humiliating!"

"It's initiation," Wes retorted.

"Wes, these pranks are supposed to be harmless. A whoopee cushion, maybe the salt shaker cap unscrewed at breakfast. This is cruel!" Kurt shouted angrily.

"Well, the Council has voted. Kurt, you will have to get the information for his gym period and locker number."

"Hell no," Kurt said defiantly. "I never liked this initiation idea. How did you even get this approved?"

"My dad and uncle are on the school board," David said with a shrug. "Do it or you're off the Warblers."

"WHAT?" Blaine shouted, taking his boyfriend's hand. "That's not fair!"

"It's the rules. You disrespect the Council, you're out," Thad, AKA "The living breathing handbook" said. "Take it or leave it, Kurt."

Kurt sighed, nodding. He had no choice.

In his room that night, Kurt was stressing over the initiation. He had seen the dark circles under Mason's eyes and the slump of his shoulders. It was exactly how Kurt looked for a while when he showed up at Dalton after the bullying. He knew this prank would hurt Mason, and deeply. He couldn't let it happen.

He tried to remember if there were any Warblers in his gym class. None. He sighed, realizing what he had to do.

The next day, he gave his gym period and locker number to Wes.

"Good, Kurt. Trent, you'll get his clothes. Nick, you'll get the gym clothes. Everyone clear?" They all nodded with excited smiles. They'd never had an initiation before! The only ones not smiling were Blaine and Kurt, who shot each other looks of disappointment.

The day wore on slowly for Kurt, and then he was in gym. He knew what was going to happen when he got out of the shower, but he still could feel the humiliation pooling in his stomach. He ran into a bathroom stall with a towel wrapped around his waist, prepared to hide in there until right before curfew so he could sneak back to his dorm.

He didn't expect to fall asleep, though.

It was dark outside when Kurt awoke, and he was panicking.

Curfew's in nine minutes, Kurt thought frantically as he saw the clock. I'll never make it back!

But he had to try. If he stayed in the gym all night, first period gym kids would find him in the morning. He had no choice but to run for it.

He exited the gym building and started sprinting towards his dorm, thankful that everyone was inside. The freezing winter air stung his skin as he ran.
Three minutes, he thought. I have time!

And then his towel got caught on a branch.

He sure as hell wasn't going to run back to the dorm naked, so he spent two minutes trying to get his towel off the branch. He was minutes too late when he got back to the locked door. That's when it settled in.

He was locked out of his dorm. Naked. In the freezing cold.

He went to sit on the ground by a tree, wrapping his arms around his knees and beginning to shiver at the wind blowing.

It was going to be a long night.

Jeff walked down the outdoor path to the cafeteria early, whistling a merry tune. It was Wednesday, which meant they had fresh blueberry chocolate chip muffins. With thousands of teenage boys with appetites the sizes of Mars, you had to get there early to snag one.

But the sight he found made him stop all together.

Kurt was huddled under a tree, arms around his knees and his eyes staring blankly at the ground. His lips were a dark blue, and his skin was paler than usual, sickly. Jeff's eyes widened in horror.

"KURT!" Jeff shouted, sprinting towards his friend. That's when he realized Kurt was naked and shivering violently. His skin was ice cold to the touch. "Oh God, Kurt, what happened?"

Kurt didn't respond, and Jeff saw tears running down his frostbitten cheeks. Jeff dug his cell phone out of his blazer pocket and dialed 911.

"Yes, hello, this is Jeffery Sterling! I'm outside Dalton Academy for Boys in Westerville, Ohio, and I think my friend Kurt Hummel has been locked outside all night and he's naked and freezing! I think he might have hypothermia!" he shouted into the phone.

"Sir, please stay calm. Help is on the way. Can you describe his appearance for me please?" the operator said calmly.

"His lips are really blue and so are his fingers and toes. His skin is naturally pale, but now it's just white. He's shaking and shivering and crying and I don't know what to do!" Jeff sobbed, tears running down his own cheeks. He started to feel relief as he heard sirens approaching him and Kurt. Despite the boy's nakedness, he took Kurt into his arms and shivered. Kurt's skin felt like ice, and Jeff was freaking terrified.

"It'll be OK, Kurt," Jeff said, his voice wavering. "We're going to take you to the hospital and you're going to be all better, alright?"

Kurt didn't respond again, and Jeff looked down to see why.

Kurt was unconscious.

~oOo~

The minute they'd reached the hospital and Kurt had been taken through the big double doors, Jeff called Wes.

"Jeffery Sterling, where the hell are you?" Wes spat into the phone. "Homeroom starts in twenty minutes and all the muffins are gone!"

"Forget the muffins and school Wes. Get the Warblers and get all of your asses to the local hospital right now!" Jeff said into the phone.

"What? Why?" Wes shouted into the phone.

"It's Kurt! Tell Blaine gently or I think he'll have a heart attack," Jeff stressed.

"Oh God, what happened?" Wes said frantically, scared for his friend.

"I found him outside this morning, blue, freezing, and naked. I think he was outside all night," Jeff said, tears rolling down his cheeks again. "I'm so scared, Wes, he was so cold and he was crying…"

"We're on our way now," Wes said, Jeff noticing the frantic voices in the background. "Be there in five minutes!"

"Alright, bye," Jeff said shakily, ending the call. Jeff went down to the parking lot in time to catch the three cars belonging to Wes, David, and Thad pulling into the parking lot, each piled with Warblers.

"Guys!" Jeff called out, running towards them. Blaine looked the worst out of all of them, his face covered with fallen tears.

"Jeff!" Blaine called out, running towards the blonde boy and engulfing him in his arms, sobbing into his shoulder. "Is he OK?"

"I don't know," Jeff said shakily. "Did you call his dad?"

"Yes," Blaine said, his voice wavering. "He can't get out of the shop right now because it's super busy, but he basically threatened my life to keep him updated."

"Understandable," Jeff said. He pulled away from Blaine, patting him on the shoulder. "Where's Mason?"

"He said he had a lot of homework to do, but he told us to text him the minute we figure out something," David replied.

"Alright. Follow me to the waiting room," Jeff instructed.

The Warblers hurried after Jeff as he led the way upstairs to the waiting room. After ten minutes, a doctor with a clipboard entered the room.

"Kurt Hummel?"

The Warblers shot up like rockets, rushing towards the man, Jeff and Blaine in front.

"How is he, is he OK?" Blaine asked frantically.

"He's alright, sir," the doctor said. "He suffered from mild hypothermia, but is recovering. He's been asking for a Jeff Sterling and a Blaine Anderson?"

"That would be us, sir," Jeff said. "Can we see him?"

"Yes," the doctor said. "Follow me." (A/N: I am not aware of hospital protocol. Sorry if I got it wrong.)

"What about us?" Wes asked.

"Wait here," Jeff answered simply. He and Blaine followed the doctor down the hall and into Kurt's room. Jeff sighed in relief as he saw Kurt's skin was now the same porcelain color as it usually was and his lips were no longer blue.

"Blaine, Jeff," Kurt said in relief. "Come here, I'm still cold."

Blaine rushed to Kurt's side, sliding in next to him and wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist.

"Oh, baby, you're freezing," Blaine said, pulling Kurt closer.

"And you're really warm," Kurt said in content, pulling his boyfriend closer. "My own personal space heater."

"Is that the only reason we're dating? Because I can keep you warm? Thanks, babe, love you too," Blaine said sarcastically. Kurt grinned, pulling Blaine close for a chaste kiss before pulling back, looking happily at Jeff.

"Thank you," Kurt said. "For saving me. I don't know what would've happened if you were too late…thank Grilled Cheesus it was BBC muffin day," Kurt joked. Jeff chuckled before turning serious.

"What happened, Kurt?" Jeff asked. Kurt averted his eyes from Jeff, instead looking at Blaine.

"Jeff, could you excuse us please? I want to tell Blaine first," Kurt said.

"Of course," Jeff agreed. He left the room, heading back towards the waiting room to tell the Warblers that Kurt was OK.

Meanwhile, Blaine pulled his boyfriend closer, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

"What happened out there, Kurtie?" Blaine asked. Kurt sighed, taking Blaine's hands.

"When Mason first joined the Warblers, I knew there was something off about him. He barely smiled and there were dark circles under his eyes. I don't know if he was bullied because he's gay, but I could tell he'd been through a lot of crap at whatever school he came from. When Wes told us what he was planning and told me I had to give them the info…I had to do something. I couldn't let that happen to him…he's just so young…"

He looked up at Blaine, who still looked confused.

"I realized I didn't have any Warblers in my gym class, so when Wes asked for the info…I told him my gym period and locker number."

Blaine's eyes widened, his mouth falling open slightly.

"No…"

"Yes. So, I hid in the gym bathroom, intending on sneaking out before curfew, but I fell asleep. It was nine minutes to curfew, so I ran for it. I was so close, but my towel got caught on a branch and I couldn't get it loose. When I got to the door, I was too late. I was out there the whole night, and I didn't even sleep…it was so cold it hurt, Blaine…"

Kurt fell into Blaine's arms with a soft sob, letting his tears soak Blaine's blazer. Blaine held his boyfriend tight, bitter tears in his own eyes.

"Do you regret it?" he asked, running his hands soothingly over Kurt's back. Kurt pulled back slightly so he could look Blaine in the eye.

"No," Kurt said, shaking his head. "Imagine how Mason would've felt if that happened to him. The wounds were too fresh to rub salt in, Blaine. Mine are older, I'm stronger. I did it to protect a total stranger…does that make any sense?" Blaine pulled Kurt into him again.

"You are the most compassionate, loving, selfless person I have ever met. You willingly endured all this pain and humiliation to protect a person you barely even know. I've never met someone braver than you, and I've never loved someone more than I love you right now," Blaine said lovingly, pressing kisses to Kurt's hair.

"I love you, too, Blaine," Kurt said, stroking Blaine's face. Blaine leaned into the soothing, cold touch.

Wait, cold. Hypothermia. Initiation. Warblers.

"If you'll excuse me, my love, there are some singing asses out there that need to get their skulls cracked," Blaine said angrily, moving to get off the bed.

"No, allow me. I have something to say that I've wanted to say since Wes even brought up these stupid initiations," Kurt growled. Blaine sighed, nodding. He left for a minute before returning with anxious looking Warblers. Before any of them could say a word, Kurt held up his hand.

"Uh-uh, I talk, you listen. First off, I want you all to know that this could have been sweet little Mason if I hadn't stepped in," Kurt began.

"What are you talking about, Kurt?" Trent asked in confusion. Kurt sat up a bit and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I didn't give you Mason's gym period and locker number…I gave you mine."

"What? Why?" Nick asked, holding Jeff's hand.

"Because I saw what all of you couldn't! I could tell just by looking at Mason that he got a lot of crap at his old school for…I don't know, maybe his social status or sexuality. I knew that the initiations would hurt him, and badly, so I took it for him. Last night, I fell asleep in a gym bathroom stall while I was hiding and waiting for my chance to sneak out. I was too late and got locked out of the dorm after I tried to get my towel, which got caught on a branch. That's why I'm in here. Because of you."

A few of the Warblers gasped, their hands flying to their mouths. The councilmen looked horrified as Kurt continued.

"I don't regret what I did. Like I told Blaine, I could just tell that his wounds were too new to rub salt in. I just…I couldn't sit idly by and watch you hurt such an innocent kid!" Kurt said, tears welling in his eyes. "The only question I have now is when the Warblers turned into bullies."

Blaine slid next to Kurt on the bed, winding his arms around Kurt's waist from behind and pressing a kiss to the distraught boy's cheek. He sent a glare at the Warblers, who all looked equally horrified and guilty.

"I think it'd be best if you left, now," Blaine said, his voice low and obviously subdued. Wes gave single nod before leading the boys out of the door, tears in his eyes. Blaine sighed when they were all gone, changing his and Kurt's positions so they were sitting cross-legged and facing each other, their hands intertwined.

"I'm so sorry this had to happen to you, baby," Blaine said, pressing a delicate kiss to Kurt's lips. Kurt kissed back before pulling back with a smile.

"It's OK," Kurt said. "Even if I knew this was going to happen, I would've done it anyway." Blaine smiled lovingly at his boyfriend, stroking Kurt's hands with his thumbs.

"How did I get lucky enough to get you to be mine?" Blaine asked, leaning closer to his beautiful, amazing boyfriend.

"Just like how I got lucky enough to have you," Kurt replied, wrapping his arms around Blaine's neck and pulling him in for a slow, passionate kiss. A shiver ran down Kurt's spine as he pulled Blaine even closer, not wanting to break away but eventually needing to when oxygen was essential.

"I love you," Kurt murmured, bumping noses lightly with Blaine. Their hearts beat as one, their eyes staring at one another. The Warblers didn't matter, the prank didn't matter, nothing mattered. They were alone, they were together, and they were in love. Nothing else existed.

"I love you, too."

Cheesy, I know.
