Chapter 8: Purple

Ronan could not sleep. He was very tired the next day.

What was wrong with her? Why is she like that? Why? Why? Why Elesis? …

"It's all because of you and your stupid dense attitude!" Arme suddenly proclaimed and pointed to Ronan.

"Wha-?"

"No, Arme. Just leave them alone." Lire said as she tried to pull the mage away gently.

"But because of him, Elesis is-"

"Is what?" said Elesis, as she suddenly came out of the room.

"Where are you going, Elesis?" asked the archer.

"I'm going to train, alone..."

"Wait! Let me come with you!" said Ronan.

"Didn't I say that I wanted to go alone?"

She then walked away...again.

"Elesis! Elesis!" Ronan shouted as he ran.

Elesis was training all right, but Ronan just couldn't help but follow her.

The ruby knight was fighting monsters malevolently. She looked like she was in berserk mode. Constant berserk mode.

But then, as she was fighting, she was getting very dizzy. Like Ronan, she did not get any sleep. The mobs seem to spawn endlessly. Black spots began to appear before her eyes. Suddenly, she felt like floating.

"Behind you!"

Along with that voice, Elesis heard a slash. After that, complete darkness.

The exhausted red knight woke up later that day on her bed.

"Elesis. You're awake." said Lyre.

"Wh-what happened? Argh! I need to train!"

"No Elesis! Stay there!" Amy said.

"Ronan followed you to your training. We didn't know why. We were surprised when we saw him carrying you unconcious."

Elesis calmed down. "Where is he now?"

"We don't know... He said he wanted to quit from the Chase. He didn't want to be a burden to you, who is only hurt because of him. We tried to stop him...but..."

"And he said that if you want to meet him for the last time, just go to the place where you last met."

The ruby knight immediately stood up and ran. Ran as fast as she can. To Kerrie Beach, as usual.

Stupid Ronan! Stupid Ronan! STUPID RONAN!

The sun was already setting. Ronan was ready to leave.

"Goodbye to you all. I really want to help, but I can't be a burden to just one of you... I hope many more people will join the Chase."

"STUUUUUUPIIIIIIIIIIID ROOOOOOOOONAAAAAAAAN!"

The moment was too fast. Ronan immediately received a punch in the face, and fell to the ground.

"Ow! What was that for!"

"For your stupidity!"

"Oh so now I'm the one stupid!"

"Yeah! You're so stupid that you want to leave the group! What about the Knight Master! What will she think of you! What about the people who need help! What about our teammates! You're so selfish ever! You have always been! You can't even tell the feelings of other people!"

"I can't tell huh..."

"Yeah... Well... Uhh..."

"Well your so dumb that you say red and blue don't blend. Well they become ONE COLOR!"

Then an awkward silence occurred. Elesis' eyes widened. She looked away and closed her eyes to prevent her tears from falling.

Ronan pulled Elesis to him.

"What is your problem, really?"

"See, you can't even tell..."

"Sigh. How would I know if you don't tell?"

"Because... Just... Just don't leave the Chase okay? The team needs you. Everyone needs you. I...need you."

"You...need me? But why?"

"B-because..."

"Because what?"

"Because I love you! There! I told you! Happy now?"

Ronan was really surprised with the words he heard. He looked down. Tears started to fall from his eyes.

"Really now? Why didn't you just tell me?"

"Y-you... You would just reject me that's why!"

"Idiot! Why would I do that! Just shut up, will you?"

After he said those words, he pulled Elesis even closer to him. Then he wrapped his arms around her.

The ruby knight could not help it any longer. She cried a lot again. This time, along with Ronan. They cried together in each others' arms, as the horizon slowly turned purple.
